[face to face] professional communication exercise
Join this Professional Communication session — to sharpen the skills for architectural pitches, elevator pitches, interviews. This time we meet in the Monbijou park.
💡 How it works
The event is split into two parts:
1. **Communication (10 minute rounds)** – One participant answers a round of design and behavioral questions. Each other participant gets to ask him one question.
2. **Feedback Round** – The group provides feedback on communication, structure, and clarity. Constructive criticism is encouraged.
💡You will be asked:
* **Light design problems** (high-level reasoning, not code)
* **Behavioral questions** (“Tell me about yourself”, “Describe a challenge you faced...”)
No need to prepare anything in advance — just bring curiosity and an open mind.
💡Note: location is the entrance to Monbijou park
HSP Meetup: Visiting Pfaueninsel (peacock island)
**Update, date changed to 31.05. (instead of 26.04.)**
Do you relate to Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS)? Want to hang out with like-minded people? Not sure but want to find out more? Then come and join us on a visit to Pfaueninsel.
We will walk first for about one hour from Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz towards Pfaueninsel. Then we take a short ferry ride to the the island. The ferry ticket (valid for both ways) cost 6 Euro and includes the entry fee of the island. Together we will explore the island and find a place to sit, preferably on the lawn or by the water.
It's best to bring something to sit on, like a blanket or yoga mat. We can play some cards, have a picnic, or just talk about your favorite HSP topic.
We will leave the island at 6 pm and then head back to S-Bahnhof Wannsee (probably with the bus nr. 218).
**When:**
Sunday 31 May at 12:30 pm
**Exact meeting location:**
At the bus stop opposite S-Bahnhof Wannsee. Where we will take the bus nr. 114 at 12:37 towards Heckeshorn.
It's also possible to join 12:45 pm at the bus stop "Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz" in case you come from another direction.
**About the island:**
Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) is a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site in Berlin’s River Havel, renowned for its romantic landscape, free-roaming peacocks, and iconic white fairytale castle.
Please note everyone is responsible for themselves. If you're tired and/or overstimulated, please don't feel obligated to stay and feel free to say your goodbyes earlier on.
Humanity: Dignity, Compassion, and Responsibility
### Humanity: Dignity, Compassion, and Responsibility
Humanity is one of the most basic concepts of human life. It refers not only to being biologically human, but also to a moral ideal: the ability to recognize others as dignified, vulnerable, and morally important beings. To speak about humanity is therefore to speak about compassion, respect, justice, responsibility, and human dignity.
Historically, the meaning of humanity has changed over time. In early civilizations, ideas related to humanity were often connected to divine order, justice, social harmony, and the protection of the weak. In ancient Greek and Roman thought, humanity became linked to reason, virtue, education, law, and civic life. The Roman idea of *humanitas* especially connected humanity with culture, moral refinement, and responsibility toward others.
Religious traditions also shaped the meaning of humanity. Many religions emphasize mercy, compassion, charity, humility, and care for the poor, the weak, and the stranger. In this sense, humanity was understood not only as a personal virtue, but also as a duty toward others and toward a higher moral order.
In modern philosophy and politics, humanity became increasingly connected to universal dignity and human rights. The idea that every person deserves respect and protection, regardless of origin, religion, gender, class, or nationality, became central to modern ethical and political thought. Humanity therefore developed from a limited social or religious duty into a universal moral principle.
However, the history of humanity is also a history of dehumanization. Slavery, colonialism, racism, war, genocide, and social exclusion show how people have often denied humanity to others. Dehumanization happens when human beings are treated as objects, threats, numbers, or tools. For this reason, humanity must also be understood as a critical concept against violence, humiliation, and exclusion.
From a psychological perspective, humanity depends on empathy, compassion, moral judgment, and the ability to understand the suffering of others. From a sociological perspective, humanity is shaped by institutions, laws, education, culture, and social norms. From a biological perspective, it is connected to cooperation, care, attachment, and social bonding. Yet humanity cannot be reduced to biology alone; it also requires moral reflection and social responsibility.
Today, humanity is challenged by war, poverty, migration, racism, technological change, artificial intelligence, and global inequality. Modern societies often reduce people to data, consumers, workers, or political categories. Therefore, the question of humanity remains urgent: how can dignity, compassion, and responsibility be preserved in a world shaped by power, technology, and crisis?
This discussion invites a critical exploration of humanity as a moral, social, political, psychological, religious, and biological reality. Humanity is not only what human beings are; it is also what they owe to one another.

Sonic Journey
Join us for SonicJourney – an intimate evening of sound, story, and deep listening in Berlin. Multiple facilitators will weave a living soundscape with Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, chimes, voice, and various beautiful healing instruments from the sound healing world. You’re invited to lie down, soften, and let the vibrations support your nervous system, invite deep rest, and gently carry you wherever your inner journey wishes to take you.
**What We’ll Do**
We gather in a cozy studio in Friedrichshain for a 90-minute SonicJourney: a guided 1-hour sound journey / sound bath in Berlin, held within a gentle opening and closing.
* **Arrival & Opening**
We arrive, land in the space and in our bodies, and share a short introduction to SonicJourney and the theme of the evening.
* **Sonic Journey**
You lie down on your mat, get comfortable, and close your eyes. Three facilitators co-create a living soundscape using instruments from the sound healing (Klangheilung) world: Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, flute, voice, and subtle textures of silence.
Rather than telling a story with words, we let sound carry the narrative. Each person receives their own version of the journey – images, emotions, and sensations may arise in their own way and timing, like a very personal Klangreise.
* **Integration & Closing**
We return slowly, with time to feel the body again, integrate in silence or share a few words, and close the space together so you can carry the experience back into your evening.
**How It May Feel**
Everyone’s journey is different, but participants often describe feeling:
* Calmer, softer, and more connected to their body
* Less mental noise, more inner space
* Gently energized yet deeply grounded
* More open to creativity, rest, and connection
You don’t need to “do” anything right – your only job is to show up as you are and receive.
**What's unique about SonicJourney**
* Multi-voice sound field – Several facilitators play at once, creating layered textures and depth.
* Story as sound – Instead of words, we let stories unfold through vibration, rhythm and silence.
* Community at the core – This space is about being together, not just having an individual experience.
* Rooted in sound healing – We use instruments chosen to support the nervous system and invite deep rest.
**Who this is for:**
SonicJourney is for you if:
* You long for a pause from the pace and noises within.
* You feel curious about sound healing, altered states, or deep relaxation.
* You enjoy non-verbal, sensory experiences more than a lot of talking.
No prior experience with yoga, meditation or music is needed. All backgrounds and levels are welcome.
If you are pregnant, have sound sensitivity or have a medical condition, you’re invited to reach out beforehand so we can support you as best we can.
* Comfortable, warm clothing and socks.
* Optional: your own mat / blanket if you prefer (studio has mats and props).
* Water bottle.
* Any extra cushion or eye cover that supports your rest.
**MEET THE HOST**
**Dhiraj**
**Dhiraj’s** journey from software developer to sound healer was inspired by his wife’s deep connection to yoga and spirituality. Through yoga, meditation, and sound healing, he discovered a profound sense of peace and a passion for helping others reconnect with themselves.
Now, as a sound bath healer, Dhiraj creates warm, welcoming spaces where people can relax, reflect, and find inner calm. A proud member of Yogic Escape, he loves sharing the joy and balance he’s found, helping others on their own paths to self-discovery.
**SARA**
Sara is a certified sound and energy therapist based in Berlin. A longtime practitioner of yoga and meditation, she trained in sound
healing with a focus on Tibetan bowls and gongs.
"In 2023, I encountered sound healing and felt the profound potential of sound vibration and energy work—to unlock, to heal, and to reconnect deeply. I love shaping sound baths as spaces of complete surrender, where people can simply be—beyond roles and definitions—and gently come home to themselves, without judgment and in peace."
**DICLE**
Dicle is a Berlin-based dancer, yoga teacher, and Pilates/Barre instructor
, and sound healer. Rooted in her dance background, her teaching is guided by creativity, mindfulness, and deep care for her students.
She creates balancing, transformative sound baths with Tibetan singing bowls and complementary instruments—spaces where the body softens, the mind clears, and the nervous system can settle into parasympathetic rest.
**FEDERICO**
Federico is a Berlin-based sound healing practitioner and yoga teacher. After years of embodied practice and teaching, he trained in sound healing in 2025. His encounter with sound deeply transformed his way of perceiving life and practice, guiding him toward a more subtle, essential, and listening-based approach. His work creates spaces of stillness, regulation, and reconnection through vibration and presence.
“Sound healing changed the way I listen—to my body, to others, and to life itself. Working with sound taught me that transformation does not always come through effort, but often through allowing. In my sessions, I offer a space where nothing needs to be fixed, where people can slow down, rest, and gently return to themselves.”
**Important Notes for Participants**
While SonicJourney is designed to be deeply soothing and restorative, we offer the following guidance so the experience can be safe and supportive for everyone:
* If you are taking medication for anxiety, depression, sleep, blood pressure, or any condition affecting the nervous system, the depth of relaxation and altered state may feel more amplified.
* If you live with epilepsy, strong sound sensitivity, PTSD, a history of trauma, or certain mental‑health conditions, the long, layered vibrations may evoke unexpected sensations, images or emotions.
* If you are pregnant, especially in the first trimester, please only join if it feels right for you and after consulting your healthcare provider.
* If you use hearing aids or cochlear implants, you may choose to adjust or remove them if the sound field feels too intense.
If any of this relates to you — or if you’re simply unsure how your body may respond — we warmly encourage you to check in with a healthcare professional before attending. During the journey, you are always welcome to change position, sit up, rest, take a break, or step outside. Your comfort, choice and inner stability matter above all.
*May the vibrations guide you, cleanse you, and remind you of the quiet healing already alive within your being.*

Chitta Walks - Awareness in Motion
Chitta Walks is for people whose days move fast, while the mind never fully lands. Thoughts keep looping even when nothing is urgent. The body moves, but attention is elsewhere. Over time, this disconnect drains clarity and ease.
This walk is a simple reset.
We meet in Berlin’s Tiergarten and walk at a gentle pace. Parts of the walk are in silence, with light guidance and a few short prompts. The walk itself is the practice, bringing body and mind back into the same moment.
No apps. No performance. Just a clear space to slow down and notice what is happening.
If you want to slow down without withdrawing from life, join a Chitta Walk.
✨ **What to expect (approx. 90 minutes):**
* A short arrival and orientation
* A guided silent walk (phones off, no conversation)
* One concise science-based impulse on attention or stress
* Optional reflection in pairs or small groups
* A simple takeaway or experiment for daily life
🚶**Who this is for:**
* Professionals, creatives, and people in transition.
* People who feel mentally busy and want more clarity and balance.
* Those curious about mindfulness, but grounded and practical.
* Anyone comfortable with silence and gentle self observation.
🔔 **Practical notes:**
* Duration: 60-90 minutes
* Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
* No prior experience needed
* Group size is limited to keep the space quiet and focused
🧭 **Facilitator:**
My name is Partha Sarathi, you can call me PS. I have lived in Berlin for over 12 years. With a background in physics and materials science, my interest in mindfulness grew through personal experience with stress and health challenges. I facilitate the space and structure of the walk, inviting shared exploration rather than instruction.
🤔 **Why Chitta Walks?**
Chitta is a Sanskrit word referring to the mind or field of awareness, used here in a practical, non-religious sense.
Chitta Walks is about noticing how the mind works by slowing down and walking together. Mindful walking makes thought patterns visible in real time, while moving and sensing in the world.
The name points to a simple capacity: noticing what is happening in the mind without immediately trying to fix, judge, or optimize it.
🌿 **Possible effects:**
A calmer nervous system.
Clearer attention.
A felt sense of being more present in your body.
Subtle insights into how your mind reacts under everyday conditions.
A quieter, more grounded way of moving through the city.
**Come as you are. Walk. Notice. Leave with a little more space inside.**

Together, we will talk about these topics:
* What you are currently working on
* What you need help with
* What would you like to help with
* What you you would like to learn
This is event is great for:
* filmmakers
* movie nerds

Zwischen Postkartenmotiv & deinem Bild
*English follows below*
Was dich wirklich anhält.
Pierre

**Between Postcard Motif & Your Image**
**Berlin has enough postcards. This time it's about finding out which image in it is truly yours.**
In 3 hours we move from Ostkreuz through the RAW Gelände and Warschauer Brücke to Oberbaumbrücke. Through places chosen deliberately because they're full of contrasts, movement and that typical Berlin energy you can't stage. No guided tour, no checklist of spots. More like a shared playground for focus, attention and your own inner photographic eye.
**At the center is a question that almost never gets asked on regular photo walks: How do you filter out from all the noise, the stimuli and the thousand possible subjects of a big city what actually matters to you?** Not what's worth seeing according to a travel guide. What genuinely stops you in your tracks.
With small exercises, real exchange and places that have enough friction to become interesting, we look together at how focus, imagination and your own inner vision influence which images emerge. And why some photos still feel alive later, while others are forgotten three seconds after opening them. Some people notice for the first time here how strongly their own perception changes photography.
The ending is a real Berlin moment. Cold "Späti" drinks and/or street food, surrounded by a few of the city's most iconic postcard motifs. Not as a tourist selfie spot, but to see your own images differently and take home ideas from other people's perspectives that you wouldn't have found alone.
**Smartphone or camera, beginner or pro: The space is wide enough for everyone to work at their own level. What counts is curiosity about your own perception and the desire for more than the typical tourist photo tour.**
Suggested donation from 20 €. => Small group, full attention.
I'm looking forward to you and your eye. To the images nobody has made yet, because they've been waiting for you.
Warm regards and anticipation,
Pierre

**This week's topic: Knowing Yourself**
Do we know who we are? Sometimes we can be very certain about our ideas of our identity, other times we lose clarity about it. None of these help us flow with life. So let’s explore how we can know ourselves better and how this helps us.

**Fluentbody™** is a somatic movement practice that invites you to reconnect with your body and the present moment. Guided by breath, music, and awareness, you’re encouraged to move intuitively—led by sensation rather than thought. It’s not about how it looks, but how it feels.
Each session unfolds as a shared journey with a clear intention, supporting authentic movement beyond ideas of right or wrong. The practice can be grounding and energising, helping release tension, awaken sensation, and explore both softness and strength.
No movement or dance experience is needed. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in (layers recommended). We move barefoot or in socks.
Book Swap in Gleisdreieckpark 📚 – Social Butterfly Club 🦋
Bring a blanket, maybe a drink or snack, and 3–5 books you’d like to pass on, and spend a relaxed Sunday afternoon with fellow readers at the Gleisdreieck Park.
Novels, philosophy books, poetry, comics, forgotten favorites — in any language — everything is welcome. Maybe you’ll leave with fewer books — or more. Both are part of the adventure.
This is not a formal market or networking event — just a cozy little community gathering with books, conversations, and a bit of curiosity. Come browse, swap, chat, or simply enjoy the atmosphere on the grass.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Finding Product Insights
**The Behavior Gap: Where Products Win or Lose**
Teams today have more data than ever, and yet many still struggle to understand why customers adopt, engage with, or abandon their products. Teams sprint, ship faster, and chase more signals… all while metrics stall and confidence drops. The missing piece isn’t more data. It’s often the behavioral insight between the metrics, explaining why the numbers move in the first place. Dashboards can tell you what customers did, but understanding why they did it (and how to influence what they do next) requires a deeper blend of insights. This session is about closing that gap.
Drawing from real-world experience designing and scaling products as [ZoCo Design](https://zocodesign.com/)’s CEO, [Lacey](https://www.linkedin.com/in/laceypicazo/) will share how to cut through the noise and identify the insights that actually change behavior—moving people, and moving metrics. You’ll learn:
* Why understanding customer behavior is a quant and qual challenge
* How to spot the signals that actually predict behavior change
* Where AI accelerates insight, and where it creates distraction
* How to get meaningfully closer to customers, without adding more tools
This talk reframes how to evaluate performance and identify what levers actually improve it, helping your team to make smarter bets with greater confidence. Every meaningful outcome is driven by behavior change. And when you know how to design for behavior, you stop guessing, and start building things that work.

Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor.
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving." The film continues John Carney’s “long run of success with yet another charmer” and “a sharp, hopeful crowd-pleaser that strikes the right notes!”

American Sign Language Beginners Meetup Group
We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able!
Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! Each meetup will explore different topics related to ASL/Deaf culture, and will feature time to practice conversation with one another. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn!

Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration!
This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired.
**New to electronics or curious about tinkering?**
You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building.
While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.
