KREATIV UNTAPPED #1 – Storytelling Untapped w/ Ben Sauer
**\>\>\> Registration takes place on Luma: [https://luma.com/yp90isjd](https://luma.com/yp90isjd)**
**Welcome to KREATIV UNTAPPED #1 – Storytelling Untapped w/ Ben Sauer**
**A hands-on session. No slides. Just your stories.**
We couldn't be more excited to tap into this with you at Thoughtworks Berlin. *Follow us on [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/kreativ-untapped) and [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/kreativuntapped).*
**KREATIV UNTAPPED** is a creative playground born in Berlin — and we're kicking off with the discipline that sits at the heart of every other one: **storytelling.**
Because here's what AI can't replace: the human desire to create. Creativity is what makes us uniquely human — it's a muscle, and like any muscle, it needs training. Most of us have stopped.
**KREATIV UNTAPPED** is where we change that — through hands-on sessions with working practitioners across visual arts, tactile crafts, narrative & sound, and spatial & performative disciplines.
**This evening** is about words, voice, and presence. In a world full of decks, dashboards and screens, we've forgotten how to just… tell a story. This evening is a practice in putting the slides away and using the oldest tools we have — your voice, your hands, your story.
**Expect a short provocation from [Ben](https://bensauer.net/), a hands-on session with a sketching element to flex that creative muscle, a round of group sharing, and time to actually meet the people in the room.**
**Who's this for?** Anyone with a story to tell — and the willingness to tell it without a slide deck.
No job title. No prior experience. Just the willingness to tap in.
Creativity untapped. Connection for real.

***An event by our friends from KREATIV UNTAPPED***
Rethinking Java for Accelerators: A Toy MLIR/TOSA Compiler with Bruno Caballero
In May, [Bruno Caballero](https://github.com/bruno-ah-um) will show us how to target hardware accelerators from Java with MLIR based on [his fork of the OpenJDK Project Babylon](https://github.com/bruno-ah-um/openjdk-babylon-mlir-tosa).
Bruno leads the Java Virtual Machines Engineering team at [MicroDoc](http://www.microdoc.com), which develops JVMs and maintains ports across various processors and operating systems.
In this talk, we’ll explore a toy project that translates Java code into MLIR for the TOSA dialect, which is used for AI and accelerator workloads. We’ll briefly introduce current approaches (e.g., TornadoVM and Babylon/HAT), before looking at how this project reuses existing compiler infrastructure instead of building new backends. Finally, we’ll touch on whether DSLs should be embedded in general-purpose languages like Java or designed as standalone languages.
Small snacks and drinks will be available. There is always space for outside topics and discussions. If you have specific questions, please bring them. Looking forward to meeting everyone again!

Singing in the dark. Voice meditation workshop
### This voice meditation workshop is an invitation to enter darkness together. Not to escape, but to listen, feel, and stay with what is usually avoided.
We will work with voice and singing as tools for exploring grief in its different forms: grief after losing someone to death, after the end of a relationship, or after the loss of hope, future, or meaning. Not as a therapeutic intervention, but as a shared artistic and somatic experience.
The workshop will be based on Eastern European folk songs about loss, mourning, and death that carry collective memory and emotional structure that allow us to access grief without explanation or narrative.
In the second part, we will move into a guided voice meditation circle in complete darkness. Through sustained tones, breath, and gentle vocalization, we will create a shared sound environment that supports relaxation, stimulates the vagus nerve, and helps regulate the nervous system. The darkness allows attention to shift inward and reduces the pressure of being seen or performing.
The Workshop will be led in English by singer and singing teacher [Weronika Regosz](https://www.betweenvoices.org/).
Bring comfortable clothes, water, and a notebook.
We are looking forward to this special workshop exploring the darkness together. Send an email to infobetweenvoices@gmail.com to save your spot!
\*The workshop will be held at Ahorn Space, Hermannplatz 8, Berlin.
\*The event is donation-based.

Berlin Sprachcafé. Learn and practise German easily (A1-A2)
The Language Café is primarily aimed at people who are struggling with their mental health which can make it hard to go to regular courses. We want to create a safe space for everyone to learn and practise without pressure. Everyone is welcome! Please try to be on time so we can all get started together :)
We mainly practise on a beginner/lower intermediate level and adapt to everyone's prior level of German.
The Language Café will focus on teaching you the most important words and phrases and basic grammar in German. The content of the course is adapted to real life. (everyday life in Germany, dealing with authorities, etc.) We will cover different topics every week and you can join us anytime, since the topics do not necessarily build on each other.
The Sprachcafé is for free.
\*If you cannot make it please cancel your participation so someone else from the waiting list can join, thank you!\*

Soundness Check Circle | Mental Health Support
Hi, I am Zoe, a software engineer by profession. I have been running this support group since a shortly after covid 😇
The location is confusing if you route from google maps. Please note that it’s at Choriner Str. 12, 10119 Berlin. Do note the street and house number to reach ☑️ the bar next to it is always closed so please don’t get confused by it.
What to expect in the circle:
\- The first 45 minutes we can spend to get coffee and settle down
\- On a volunteer basis\, each of the attendee will then get some time to share things that they are dealing with\, perhaps for 2\-5 minutes
\- You can skip sharing even if you are in a circle\, there's no force \(and there will never be\) on you to share\, staying silent and listening is completely ok
\- Attendees can recommend books or reading material if they like
///// ….. ///////

Moving Through Sound, Settling Into Resonance 24.05
A somatic listening and sound journey ·
This workshop begins in the body.
Through subtle, guided movement — weight shifting, breath, attention to sensation — we turn listening inward. Into the body. Into the space between sounds. Into the micro-movements we rarely notice. A geophone microphone picks up the vibrations of movement in the space, amplifying them back into the room. You may hear your own weight shifting. You may hear someone else's. The boundary between the two begins to dissolve.
The sound doesn't create connection. It reveals it.
From movement we move into stillness. Into deep collective listening. Into sound.
Resonant instruments — singing bowls, gong, chimes, tuning forks — meet field recordings of the natural world. The room settles into a full sound bath, arriving into a body that has already been opened by movement.
This workshop is rooted in experimental sound, deep listening, and the simple act of paying attention. It is playful, embodied, and quietly surprising. You will leave with a different relationship to the sounds around you — and probably to the women you made them with.
No experience needed. No performance required. Just curiosity and a willingness to arrive.
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. All instruments and materials provided.
Beneath the noise. A deeper listening.

Ensuring Software Quality in the world of AI Developers - Matt Eland
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
Like it or not, AI agents are now capable of turning a quickly written paragraph of requirements into a pull request that is ready to be integrated into real-world production applications and it's now our responsibility to make sure AI doesn't go rogue and take down prod - or corrupt our data by misunderstanding the requirements or our existing schemas. In this session we'll explore strategies to protect our codebases through unit and integration testing, documentation, and code review along with additional ways of providing context and guard rails to our AI agents as they carry out the work we've assigned them to do. By the time we're done, you'll have a firm grasp of the problem and understand some helpful options for protecting your codebase from vibe coding mishaps getting YOLOed into prod.

Drunken Philosophy: What’s up with all the AI hate?
**Welcome to Drunken Philosophy** a casual, curious social discussion
**Optional topic for this meetup: What's up with all the AI hate?**
A recent survey found that 74% of Americans have a negative view of AI, and I want to know why. Come out and debate whether AI is good or bad.
My hot take: a labor-saving tool that could potentially help cure cancer gets called dangerous because it might raise unemployment or cause a speculative investment bubble, that tells you a lot more about capitalism and the economic system we live under than it does about the tool itself. As a computer programmer, I think AI is a wonderful tool that has increased my productivity by at least an order of magnitude. I'd go so far as to say Claude Code is the best tool I have ever used. Debate me and name a better one.
Is AI potentially dangerous? Yes, but so are a lot of tools. Chainsaws. Steam engines (early ones would occasionally explode and kill everyone in the room). Do you think cavemen sat around debating whether fire could be used as a weapon or for self-harm, and decided not to discover it?
I have two friends who hate AI for opposite reasons: one thinks it's a fad and not useful, and the other thinks it's going to take over everything and cause human extinction.
Come out tonight, have a friendly debate, and make some friends.
No lectures. Friendly crowd. Drop in for one drink and stay if it's fun.
