Filmonik Kino-Kabaret 2026 - Short films premiere screening party and meetup
Join a group of ecstatic and exhausted filmmakers premiering short films they've made in the last few days in a shared creative hub. Every year the quality and creativity are off the charts. Come see for yourself.
The Filmonik Kabaret is our yearly event, an all-you-can-film buffet of creativity where everyone collaborates on as many films as they can in a shared production space called the Kinolab at Balam Balam Place. Chaotic magic happens leading to this final screening on March 31. Some filmmakers had only 24 to 72 hours to execute their vision, but others will be editing up to just a few hours before screening. Expect comedies, drama, suspense, experimental films, action films, short docos, maybe some trashy goodness and stop-motion and animation are certainly on the table, but we don't know exactly. Year after year the filmmakers impress and thrive in this collaborative environment with over 60 participants. It's a celebration of film, not a competition. No creative restrictions, no set teams. Come and enjoy the creative explosion. Short QA after the films give insight into the production.
Doors to theatre at 6:00pm. Films start at 6:30pm. $15.
The short films are unrated therefore it is an 18+ event by default.
Tickets at [https://events.humanitix.com/filmonik-kino-kabaret-2026-short-films-premiere-screening-party](https://events.humanitix.com/filmonik-kino-kabaret-2026-short-films-premiere-screening-party)
Howler Bar & Theatre is a fully accessible and inclusive venue.
Kitchen opens at 5:00pm for dinner before screening. Menu: [www.howlerbrunswick.com/bar-and-food](www.howlerbrunswick.com/bar-and-food)
Limited tables are available inside the theatre to order meals and snacks once the screening has started and during the intermission.
No need to buy this screening ticket if you plan on attending the whole Kino-Kabaret event from March 27 and make films as the separate Director or Cast & Crew ticket includes access to this screening.
To get the feeling of the production and premiere screening have a look at the 2025 recap ([www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0TJ4iObWsU](www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0TJ4iObWsU)) or 2022 recap ([www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHGlT075OVA](www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHGlT075OVA)) with both having a premiere screening at Howler and the production hub at Balam Balam Place (formerly known as Siteworks in 2022).

**INTRODUCING THE INDUSTRY EXPERT:**
*DA Game Changers: Vic Planning Update – Terrain Consulting Group (Lorenzo Rigoni)*
Is the Planning System Changing Faster Than You Can Keep Up?
Trying to keep up with planning changes in Victoria right now can feel like aiming at a moving target. Just when you think you’ve got the rules figured out, the government rolls out new codes, new controls, and new pathways.
The problem? If you don’t understand how these changes affect your projects, you can easily get caught out.
You might miss opportunities your competitors are taking advantage of. You might design a project based on outdated rules. Or worse, you could lose months navigating a complex planning system that feels like it was designed to confuse everyday developers.
At our next Property Developer Network Meetup, we’re bringing in Lorenzo Rigoni from Terrain Consulting Group to unpack what’s really happening inside the Victorian planning system right now and what it means for mum and dad developers on the ground.
Lorenzo will break down the latest Victorian planning policy changes, including:
• The new Activity Centres framework
• Updates to the Single Home Code
• The Townhouse and Low Rise Code
• New Canopy Tree Controls
• VicSmart pathways for two dwellings and two-lot subdivisions
• New car parking provisions
• The Planning Amendment Bill – Better Decisions Faster reforms
But most importantly, he’ll translate all of this into plain English so you understand how these changes impact your next subdivision, dual occupancy, or townhouse project.
If you want to stay ahead of the game, instead of playing catch-up with council, this is a presentation you won’t want to miss.
***This is your chance to talk property with other enthusiasts!***
See you all soon!

IN PERSON in Columbus: Creative Deal Autopsies + Wholesaling 101
(Note: RSVPing here on Meetup does NOT reserve your seat. To do that, you'll need to register at our website, **[HERE](https://www.coreerocks.com/Events.aspx?ID=IN-PERSON-in-Columbus-Creative-Deal-Autopsies-Wholesaling-101-14-4-7-2026)**.)
The market changed—and most investors are still operating like it didn't.
Deals that used to work don't.
Buyers want different things.
And a lot of what's being taught right now is outdated or just wrong.
And, since 2011, it's been our job to make sure that our members are armed with the most up-to-date, real-world strategies for building wealth in Central Ohio real estate…
…so our mission with this meeting (and every meeting) is to give you the no-hype, warts-and-all info you need to succeed.
First, Wholesaling 101—a clear, real-world look at how wholesaling actually works today, what to pay, and how to stay out of trouble.
Then, Creative Deal Autopsies—real investors breaking down real deals with real numbers, real conversations, and real outcomes.
You'll also get the chance to put the presenters in the hot seat and ask any and every question you have about how they did their deals.
You'll learn:
1. What wholesaling actually is
2. How to calculate real offers
3. Where deals are coming from now
4. What buyers want
5. How creative deals are structured
6. What contracts and terms are used
7. What can go wrong—and how to avoid it
**Agenda:**
5:00–6:00: Free Light Dinner and Networking
6:00: Earlybird Meeting – Wholesaling 101
7:00: Buy-Sell-Trade (members only)
7:30: Creative Deal Autopsies
Members: Free
First-time guests: Free
Non-members: $35 (or join for $30 instead)

This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us.
COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
***
Did you know that there are atheists everywhere?!?! You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'!
Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life.
Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio.
Social meetings held most Tuesdays at a local pub/restaurant at 7:00 PM (and often into the wee hours). Attendees call themselves agnostics, skeptics, humanists, non-theists, deists or even theists. All attendees are welcome but should support our vision.
Atheists of Columbus (AoC) is part of Omnipresent Atheists (OA). AoC members are invited to join this OA meetup and/or OA Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/omnipresentatheists/ ) but are free to continue conversations on the AoC Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/columbusatheists/ ). AoC was founded in 2012 as a networking, social group for Central Ohio area humanists, skeptics, atheists, agnostics, nonbelievers, freethinkers, and the curious. It was a member of Columbus CoR and held weekly meetings, mostly on Fridays, for several years but then operated as an online only group for some time. In November 2018, Omnipresent Atheists (OA), a group that routinely meets on Tuesdays, invited AoC to merge.
Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason (ColumbusCoR.org). Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason ( http://www.ColumbusCoR.org ). Omnipresent Atheists endorses the mission of the Secular Coalition for America ( http://secular.org ).
