Abstract painting with acrylic paints: Floral Dreams
Abstract painting with acrylic paints: Floral Dreams
Unwind after work, clear your mind, and immerse yourself in a world of color – that's what this 1.5-hour acrylic painting workshop is all about. "After Work Flow" is a creative space where you can find peace, leave everyday life behind, and fully embrace the moment. No prior experience is necessary – just the desire to try something new and engage with color and movement. On a 30 x 30 cm canvas, you'll discover the freedom of abstract painting. There's no right or wrong, no perfect or imperfect – only your personal expression. You'll learn how colors interact, how they mix, overlap, and create new moods. It's not just about the result, but above all about the process: feeling, observing, and letting go. A special focus is placed on getting to know colors intuitively. You'll be surprised how individual hues change when combined and how much emotion can be contained in a single area of color. Step by step, you'll develop your own abstract painting and learn to let go of preconceived notions. Brushstrokes also play a crucial role. You'll discover different ways to apply paint – calmly, boldly, softly, or with texture. Each brushstroke becomes a movement that lends depth and character to your painting. You're encouraged to experiment, try things out, and find new forms of expression without pressure or expectations. The workshop invites you to enter a state of flow – a place where time ceases to matter and you become completely immersed in the creative process. This is precisely where relaxation arises: when you detach yourself from your thoughts and simply allow yourself to drift. All materials are provided, including a 30 x 30 cm canvas, high-quality acrylic paints, and all necessary tools. At the end, you'll take your own abstract artwork home – a memento of a short creative break just for you. "After Work Flow" is more than just a painting course. It's a break from everyday life, a moment for yourself, and an invitation to experience color anew.

Als Leitfaden dienen die Werte der Urban Sketchers: https://urbansketchers.org/de/who-we-are/#mission/ #uskzurich \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- EN After several meetups in the city, it is time for another small trip outside Zurich. Our destination is the [Botanical Garden Grüningen](https://maps.app.goo.gl/CJaHZA7BzW2MNqDw9?g_st=ic), set on a hill above the historic little town and shaped like an arboretum. The award-winning greenhouse, trees and shrubs from around the world, and the varied outdoor spaces offer plenty of sketching subjects somewhere between plant study and architecture. Even in less-than-perfect weather, the visit is well worth it: there are several sheltered places to draw and take cover, not only inside the greenhouse itself. We are very pleased to be welcomed to the garden and would like to warmly thank our hosts for the invitation. **Meeting point** At the entrance to the Botanical Garden Grüningen. **Getting there** By public transport, you can reach the garden from Zurich, Winterthur or Rapperswil via S-Bahn to Wetzikon ZH, then bus 867 to Grüningen, Im Haufland. From Uster, take bus 845 to Grüningen, Im Haufland. From the bus stop, it is about a 20-minute walk to the garden. If you are coming by car, free parking is available. More information can be found here: [https://www.botanischer-garten.ch/den-garten-besuchen/](https://www.botanischer-garten.ch/den-garten-besuchen/) **Entrance** The entrance is free of charge. Please bring your own drawing materials and, ideally, a small folding stool. No prior experience required. We sketch for about 2 hours, solo or in small groups, at an easy pace. Afterwards we regroup, share our sketches and take a group photo. As always, we follow the Urban Sketchers values: https://urbansketchers.org/who-we-are/#mission/ #uskzurich

KIDS Manga Drawing Class
KIDS Manga Drawing Class
Drawing manga often seems complicated and intimidating at first glance. The expressive eyes, distinctive features, and dynamic characters lead many to believe that years of experience are required. But this manga drawing workshop addresses that very fact: drawing manga is much easier than you think when you learn the right basics and are guided step by step. In my manga drawing workshops, children and teenagers learn the most important manga drawing techniques in a playful and easy-to-understand way. The course is structured so that it is easy to understand even without prior knowledge and provides a sense of accomplishment from the very beginning. The goal is to dispel participants' fear of drawing and foster their creativity. All necessary materials are included in the course, so you don't need to bring anything. Drawing paper, pencils, and other materials are provided on site. Warm-up and Sketching Exercises (10–15 minutes) We begin by loosening up our hands with simple drawing exercises and quick sketches. These help develop confidence in your lines and allow you to start drawing in a relaxed way. Basics: Manga Faces (approx. 30 minutes) You will learn step by step how typical manga faces are constructed – from the basic shape and proportions to the eyes, nose, mouth, and facial expression. Drawing a Manga Character Together (45–60 minutes) Afterwards, we will put what we have learned into practice and draw a complete manga character together. You will learn how to make characters come alive and how small details convey personality.

Batik Tulis Workshop – Wax & Dye Textile Art (Zurich)
Batik Tulis Workshop – Wax & Dye Textile Art (Zurich)
**Step away from the pace of everyday life and spend a day immersed in the quiet rhythm of batik.** Batik is a traditional wax-resist textile art where patterns emerge slowly through the interaction of hot wax and dye. The process invites patience, attention, and a different sense of time — one where the act of making becomes as important as the final piece. In this studio workshop we will explore the traditional batik tulis process using canting (the wax drawing tool) and dye. The day unfolds gradually: observing how wax flows, how colour layers develop, and how patterns begin to reveal themselves on cloth. Working with batik often becomes a quiet conversation between intention and discovery — balancing moments of control with moments of letting go as the wax and dye take their course. Many participants find that the process creates a natural space for focus, reflection, and an inner dialogue that unfolds through making. During the workshop you will: • learn the fundamentals of traditional batik wax-resist techniques • create two small batik textiles (one guided, one your own design) • experience the slow, meditative rhythm of working with wax, colour, and pattern 📍 Location Artiloft – Craft Factory Albulastrasse 24, 8048 Zurich 📅 Dates • May 17, 2026 • June 28, 2026 • August 30, 2026 🕙 Time 10:00–16:30 (with lunch break) 💰 Price CHF 240/ session (materials included) Registration and payment are handled directly by Artiloft: [https://en.artiloft.ch/service-page/batik-cire-teinture](https://en.artiloft.ch/service-page/batik-cire-teinture) Languages: English / German For those who feel drawn to explore batik more deeply, Hazura also hosts small immersive batik retreats in Yogyakarta where participants learn directly with local artisans. The **Subagya Art Retreat** offers a slower cultural immersion into the craft and its living traditions. **Learn more:** [HazuraStudio | Subagya-art-retreat](https://www.hazurastudio.com/subagya-art-retreat)
