Door hun handelswijze raakten banken in Nederland voor ongeveer €200 miljard, in Duitsland voor €400 miljard, in Frankrijk voor €320 miljard, en in het Verenigd Koninkrijk voor €300 miljard onder water met betrekking tot het onderpand—en mondiaal gaat het om biljoenen euro’s. Samen met Wink Sabée schreef Hester het boek Worst Bank Scenario, waarin in detail wordt beschreven hoe “Bretton Woods 2.0” wordt uitgerold.

I’ll bring a whiteboard where everyone can share ideas for future community gatherings, creative meetups, and ways to stay connected between workshops. Welcome to the fourth edition of the Cafe Crawl series! This edition is a special one because it's for women only, a fun girl's night out exploring cute cafes together! It's the perfect way to make new female friends in the city or just have a good evening together. We will visit a few nice cafes close to the beautiful Griftpark and we might pass some beautiful street art too. At each stop we'll sit down, enjoy something to eat or drink, and get to know the women around us. You'll be put in small groups that switch a few times, so by the end you'll have had genuine conversations with a good mix of women. How it works: We walk, we discover, we eat something delicious, and we meet new people. Welcome to **Jiada Mahjong**, a place to learn, play, and connect around the table. Whether you’re completely new or already know the game, you’re welcome. Beginners are guided step by step, while experienced players can jump straight in and play at their own pace. On **Friday, 1 May**, we are hosting **A Mahjong Night** at **Grand Café LIVING in Utrecht**. Expect a relaxed, beginner-friendly afternoon of Mahjong, where you’ll learn the game, play together, and meet new people in a laid-back atmosphere. ✨ **What to expect:** - Step-by-step Mahjong introduction - 3 hours of casual play with guidance - Two drinks (wine, beer, or soda) - Two bits (bittergarnituur) - Extra drinks & bites available for purchase at the bar - Relaxed social atmosphere - Meet new people and share a table **All Levels Welcome** Whether you’re completely new or already play comfortably, this session is designed so everyone gets the right experience at the right table. **Beginner Workshop (never played)** Learn how to play Sichuan Mahjong (also known as “Bloody Battle to the End”), a fast-paced and accessible variant that blends strategy, skill, and a bit of luck. This beginner workshop is designed to get you from zero to playing in a single session. You won’t sit through a long lecture. After a short introduction, you’ll start playing right away. A dedicated host will guide you step by step at the table—explaining the tiles, the flow of the game, and the core techniques as you go. You learn by doing, not by memorizing. By the end of the session, you’ll be able to play a simple version of Sichuan Mahjong independently. Depending on how quickly you pick it up, you may also start understanding how scoring (points) works. Why Sichuan Mahjong? It’s one of the most popular and beginner-friendly Mahjong styles. The rules are more accessible than many other variants, while still offering enough depth to keep the game interesting as you improve. **Open Play (Basic, Intermediate & Advanced)** Already familiar with Mahjong? You’ll be seated with players at a similar level and can jump straight into gameplay. Questions are always welcome, but the focus is on smooth, uninterrupted play. We support multiple Mahjong styles, including Sichuan, Hong Kong, and Riichi. Tables are organized based on player preferences whenever possible. If enough players wish to play the same style, we’ll group them together. However, this depends on attendance and cannot be guaranteed.
