CheckedIn - London Chapter - Speed Networking With The CheckedIn App
### 📍**CheckedIn London — Speed Networking for Real Connections**
CheckedIn London is built for one thing:
**helping you meet the right people faster—in real life.**
We get you out from behind the screen and into the room, where real conversations happen.
We show up at tech mixers, networking events, and industry gatherings across Leeds and use the **CheckedIn app** to turn quick introductions into meaningful connections—*on the spot*.
### 🚀 How Speed Networking Works with CheckedIn
At each event, the CheckedIn app helps you:
* Instantly connect with people you meet—no business cards required
* Follow up later without awkward LinkedIn requests
* Remember who you met, what you talked about, and why it mattered
* Turn short conversations into real collaborations, fast
Think of CheckedIn as the **spiritual successor to LinkedIn**—
but built for **in-person moments**, not endless scrolling.
No cold DMs. No forgetting names. Just tap, connect, and keep the conversation going after the event.
Whether you’re a founder, operator, creative, or curious professional, this is a space for conversations that actually go somewhere.
Come solo or bring a colleague.
No pressure. No pitches.
Just good people, efficient introductions, and momentum.

Free Human Towers Rehearsal + Social (Sunday)
Sunday rehearsal with Castellers of London. Meet us at the OBC Community Centre to help build human towers!
This get together is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends, socialise and have a go and explore your abilities as a human tower builder a.k.a Casteller!
For newcomers we have a team of trained Castellers who will introduce you to the group, guide you through the activity and help you safely take part in this unique Catalan tradition.
When you arrive just approach us as we are really friendly! If in doubt ask for Cuss! Please let us know if you are bringing guests.
After the rehearsal we go to a nearby pub for social drinks where everyone is welcome :)
What do you need?
1. Ideally a cotton shirt: to protect your neck and shoulders, the more durable the shirt/top the better. We do not recommend any thin items of clothing!
2. Jeans: allowing you to move freely without breaking.
3. Mask: We still require the use of a mask as you will be very close to your fellow Castellers - basically you will be hugging people!
The rest of the equipment is on us!
We take health and safety very seriously, both in relation to COVID-19 and also the activity- please be assured that the safety of all participants is of the utmost importance to us and we take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk, ensuring we all have a great time!
Our regular members won't be filling in the Meet Up to say they are going 🙂
So don't be put off if you see only a handful have said they are going.
A minimum of 25 on the day is normal. What the Meet Up may show is how many new people like yourself are going.

🦇🎬 VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST
***🍷At war with himself, feared by all, tortured and alone—when the sun sets, the hunt begins.***
**👋 Greetings everyone!** Let’s meet up for a gothic adventure as we step into a world of dark fantasy anime.
Directed by **Yoshiaki Kawajiri**, this film transports us to a dark, atmospheric future, where the undead have risen from apocalyptic ashes, and vampires rule the night—though even they face extinction.
While this film serves as a sequel to the original, it’s a standalone story based on the third novel, **Demon Deathchase**, so no need to watch the first film.
We’ll start with some pre-show conversation at the **Victory House Wine Bar,** then head over to **Prince Charles Cinema**—spot me in **G10**! After the credits roll, we’ll dive into our **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse)** reflections together.
**See you there for a night of dark vampires**

HU: Discover a Key to Spiritual Living
**As divine, immortal Soul, we have an inborn connection to the Creator. This unbreakable bond of love, support, and guidance can allow us to live life productively, joyfully, and adventurously. However, it can be challenging to remember and use our gift of spiritual communication. Singing HU – a sacred sound and ancient mantra – can help us recognize, strengthen, and consciously maintain this deep connection.**

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: The Secrets of Runes
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **“The Secrets of Runes,”** on the origins, development, and interpretation of the runic script, with Lilla Kopár, runologist and a professor of medieval literature and culture at Catholic University.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-rune-secrets](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-rune-secrets) .]
The fame of runes outshines that of any other ancient script. They can be found not just on Viking Age rune stones, but on Bilbo’s door and as the Bluetooth logo on your cell phone. Runic script is commonly associated with magic, used by modern practitioners of neopaganism, and in recent decades has captured the imagination of filmmakers and video game designers.
Yet most of us know little about the historical origins of runes and have no clue how to read or use them.
Come to Crooked Run Fermentation in Sterling, Va., to get schooled on runic script with the help of Lilla Kopár, a veteran scholar of runes who has earned a following among Profs and Pints fans by giving fantastic talks on medieval monsters and Norse mythology. As someone who has carried out extensive field research on runes, published several articles on runic objects, and even appeared on the History Channel commenting on runes in America, she’s exceptionally qualified to introduce you to runology and the fascinating things that runes tell us.
Dr Kopár will discuss the development of runic script from its humble origins on the borders of the Roman Empire in the first or second century CE, through its popularity in the Viking world, to its use and misuse in modern times. She’ll discuss how runes are a set of related alphabets that underwent changes over time and she’ll describe what inspired changes in this writing system and where and how runes were used in the medieval period.
Her richly illustrated talk will highlight some of the most intriguing objects with runic inscriptions, from humble bone fragments to impressive rune stones, and offer insight into the scholarly methods of deciphering and interpreting runic inscriptions. We’ll also look at the function of the runic script from simple practical notes and memorial inscriptions to cipher-runes and magic.
The most fun might be the in-class assignment, which will involve reading a few runic inscriptions and writing your name and other words in runes. (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. Talk starts 30 minutes later.)
