Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast! Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45. We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. "Ask your Guru" is a colloquial discussion event in English held in a small group (about 5-10 people) in a cosy place. One participant takes on the role of the "guru" - someone who prepares to share a specific view of the world which helped them gain a stronger sense of mastery over or fulfilment in life. The other participants listen to the guru and contribute their own views and ask questions, leading to a lively, deep exchange. You don't have to contribute to the discussion; it is also fine to remain silent and just listen, however you prefer it. Our event will take place in a restaurant where you can order a drink or have dinner. The event is scheduled for two hours. After the first hour there will be a ten minutes break. Hi everyone, On **Sunday, April 5**, 2026, I’m planning a beautiful spring hike in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Wachau, following a scenic **circular route** **from Krems** via the Hohen Markstein, the Fesslhütte and the famous **castle ruins of Dürnstein**, before **returning to** **Krems**. Along the way, we pass quiet natural areas, historic stone vineyard terraces, and enjoy wide panoramic views before returning to the charming town of Krems. This hike is all about **walking, wide views, and enjoying the landscape together** — with plenty of time for conversation, short breaks, and simply being outdoors. **Fitness Note:** Although we will walk at a relaxed pace, the hike requires moderate physical effort due to its length (about 18 km). The trails themselves are not technically difficult, but a reasonable level of fitness is needed to comfortably complete the distance. **Highlights** 🌄 Beautiful walk from historic **Krems to Dürnstein** through classic Wachau vineyard scenery 🏘️ Charming old towns of **Krems and Stein** with narrow streets and centuries-old architecture 🏰 Visit the famous **castle ruins of Dürnstein**, where King Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned 🌸 Late March to mid-April is peak season for the famous **Wachau Marillenblüte (apricot blossoms)**. With a bit of luck, we’ll walk right through blooming apricot trees — one of the most beautiful sights of spring in Austria **Meeting Point & Travel** 📍 **Meeting point:** Franz-Josefs-Bahn station at **07:30 a.m.**, near the ticket machines to buy the group ticket. If you arrive too late for the group ticket you have to buy your own ticket individually, the best choice is likely the **VOR Freizeitticket**. Information regarding the tickets at the end of the post. The train leaves at **08:00** from **Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof**. We will arrive in **Krems** at **09:08**. **Hike Details** **Duration:** Approx. 6.5 hours (pure walking time) **Distance:** Approx. 18 km **Elevation:** 300m up / 300m down **Difficulty:** **Medium** (partly considered demanding due to the length) More information on the trail: https://www.bahn-zum-berg.at/waldviertel/fesslrunde-von-krems/ Trains back from Krems to Vienna run every hour. **What to Expect** We’ll walk together at a **relaxed, social pace**, staying as a group throughout the day. This is **not a race or performance hike** — the focus is on shared experience, conversation, and enjoying the landscape at an unhurried rhythm. We’ll take regular short breaks whenever useful. 🥪 We don’t plan to stop at huts or restaurants during the hike, so please bring your own snacks and drinks (at least **1.5 liters of water**). 🌧️ Weather can be changeable, so **basic rain protection is recommended**. 🥾 Please wear **sturdy hiking shoes**. Some sections may be muddy, depending on the weather. 🦯 Trekking poles can be a great help for extra stability if we encounter any muddy patches. Please note that **there are no public toilets on the trail itself**. There is a public toilet in **Dürnstein** before we start the hike and another one in **Krems** at the end. If we are lucky, we may also pass an open **Heuriger** along the way. **Important Notes** ⚠️ **Disclaimer:** As always, this is a free, private leisure activity.
