Responsible AI in HealthCare: Considerations and Opportunities
Our friend **Dmitri Katz**, a 10 years+ long time friend and huge supporter of **STEM4Health**, **G4A**, **Digital Health**, and every **Innovation in Healthcare**, is organizing this event. I highly recommend to attend. Please register at https://luma.com/m47avlhj.
AI is offering new opportunities to address persistent, high-impact societal challenges. In domains where social and human stakes are high, practical value will depend not only on technical performance, but on how well AI systems are aligned with ethical, institutional, and operational realities. Addressing this need requires sustained, cross-disciplinary collaboration grounded in real-world practice. To this end, **ĂTHOS Berlin** is building an interdisciplinary community of founders, researchers, practitioners, domain experts, and policymakers.
âIn this workshop, we will discuss real-world care challenges and the constraints that shape responsible AI use. Participants are invited to contribute practical perspectives.
â**What we aim to produce:**
âThe workshop will produce Challenge Briefs: short documents that describe (a) a concrete care problem, (b) its real-world impact, and (c) the key institutional, ethical, and practical constraints involved. Where it emerges naturally, the briefs may also note open directions for work, such as further research or approaches for AI implementation. The briefs will be published publicly after the event and shared as reference material for future research and innovation.
â**Workshop format (2 hours):**
* âShort, problemâfocused inputs from careâdomain experts, earlyâstage startups, and other workshop attendees.
* âSmall, mixed working groups
* âEach group drafts one brief using a simple structure:
Problem ¡ Impact ¡ Constraints ¡ Directions
* âSharing and discussion
â**Why your participation matters:**
* âHelp ensure that actual constraints shape how AI problems are defined
* âBring institutional, ethical, and operational realities into the discussion early
* âContribute to challenge definitions that shape the communityâs future focus
* âBe acknowledged as a contributing participant in this first workshop
â **What participation could involve:**
* âShare a real-world careâdomain challenge
* âContributing to the drafting group
* âBring a laptop if possible.
âThis is an ĂTHOS community initiative. Participants are welcome to share what they are working on, but the focus will remain on problem framing rather than product pitching. If you have questions or would like to help with the workshop, please let us know.
Warm Regards,
Dmitri Katz

SU&W - XKĂślln Thursday
Come along, grab a coffee, shut up, and write! We will do at least two sessions of each 45 minutes of writing and two breaks. We will start the first writing session at 10:45.
For space reasons we only allow a limited number of attendees, so please update your RSVP if you can't come. We'll probably be grouped around the large table in the back room's center. In the summer, also outside.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Creative Block Lab.
Hi everyone, Iâm putting together a small, free experimental group for artists in Berlin who feel creatively stuck, blocked, overthinking, disconnected, or burned out.
Itâs called Creative Block Lab.
The idea is to create a thoughtful, hands-on space where we donât just talk about creative block, but explore it together in real time. Across three sessions, weâll share experiences, try simple exercises, spend some time working on our own creative projects, and reflect on whatâs actually happening as it happens. The intention is to understand our patterns more clearly and experiment with small shifts, without pressure or productivity talk.
This is part of a longer project Iâm developing around creativity and artistic process, and Iâm curious to see what might grow from it as a real artist community over time.
For a bit of context: Iâm Cuau, a filmmaker and artist based temporarily in Berlin, and Iâm currently building a project called The Poetic Toolbox, which explores creativity, creative block, and inner patterns through a mix of reflection, experimentation, and real conversations with artists.
Details:
â˘â â Free
â˘â â Small group (6â10 people)
â˘â â Three sessions
â˘â â 90 minutes each
â˘â â English
â˘â â Berlin-based
â˘â â Start date likely mid-February
â˘â â Session dates will be decided together with the group to make sure everyone can attend

Pitch and Planning Session # 55 - FREE EVENT
The next **Pitch and Planning Session** will be on **Feb 15th at 19:00.** We are super looking forward to hearing your pitches and watching you meet people ready to help you make your films a reality in the really real world!
đThe event is located at **House of Music** in RAW Gelande, Revalerstr 99, 10245 Berlin . A very large and amazing space that we are now calling home.
For those who are new, our Pitch and Planning Session is a monthly English language event held here in Berlin for people who have an idea for a film and would like to pitch it, as well as those people who are eager to work on films. It's all about getting films made.
If you have a film idea that is burning a hole in your brain, tell the people in the audience your story idea and hopefully you will meet people who can help you make your idea into a reality!
This event is also for people who want to help out in all aspects of filmmaking to help make these pitches happen. So if your passion is camera, sound, hair and makeup, writing, lighting, fighting, or anything that could help, you are always welcome. Whether you're new to filmmaking or experienced and want to work on something cool and creative, no matter what your area of expertise/interest is, this is for you!
Be sure to show up to either pitch your idea or be ready to listen to some interesting pitches from excited people and potentially help someone make their film. Let's make some cool shit!
If you still want more information you can head on over to our website:
*https://berlinfilmcommunity.com/pitch_and_planning/*
I have been a part of making some of these pitched projects into real world movies and I have always had a blast.
Filmmakers & Movie Nerds Meetup #167
Curious what we do? Check our [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/filmmakersandmovienerds/) âĽď¸
Would you like to meet some like-minded filmmakers? Start a project? Or do you need help with a movie you are currently working on? Are you new in the city and you'd like to meet people tinkering with movies?
**Then you should join us!**
We meet every Sunday. Itâs important to us that we get to know each other in person. To create a community of connected people, work, learn and grow together. For film making you need a crew of reliable people with a positive can-do-attitude. This is the place to find them.
Together, we will talk about these topics:
* What you are currently working on
* What you need help with
* What would you like to help with
* What you you would like to learn
This is event is great for:
* filmmakers
* movie nerds
* writers
* camera operators
* editors
* actors
* sound recorders
* composers
* gaffers
* producers
We are limiting the amount of people, so we can have a structured introduction and discussion. After that we get together loosely with some drinks and chats. And then we mostly go for dinner with a couple of us.
**Important information**:
*To sustain and grow this amazing community, we started a member contribution that is due every month. The money we collect is used solely for the purpose of the community. Of course you can come once or twice without contributing to check us out!*

đđŹ Cinema: "It Was Just An Accident"
**\*"It Was Just An Accident"\***
Feel free to join if you're interested. :)
Why the movie is important:
* **A Symbol of Resistance:** Filmed in secret within Iran without government permission, the movie is a defiant act by Panahi, who has faced multiple arrests and a long-standing filmmaking ban.
* **International Recognition:** It won the prestigious [Palme d'Or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Was_Just_an_Accident) and became the first Iranian film nominated for Best Motion Picture â Drama at the Golden Globes.
* **Personal and Collective Truth:** The story is deeply informed by Panahi's own 2022â2023 imprisonment in Evin Prison and the real-life testimonies of fellow inmates he met there.
* **Breaking Taboos:** It is one of the first major Iranian films to show women without the mandatory hijab, reflecting the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement and contemporary Iranian reality.
* **Moral Complexity:** Rather than a simple revenge story, it forces the audience to grapple with the agonizing cycle of violence, questioning whether mercy or retribution is the true path to justice.
Unraveling against the ever-present backdrop of authoritarianism, the film coalesces into a climactic act of resistance by an Iranian auteur who is no stranger to unjust detainment himself. Powered by thrilling momentum and peerless craft, Franceâs Best International Feature Film entry to the 98th Academy Awards asks us to consider â and reconsider â the line between right and wrong.
The winner of the Palme dâOr at Cannes is a fearless tour-de-force from cinematic luminary Jafar Panahi. Both urgently political and deeply humane, this new moral classic confronts truth and uncertainty, revenge and mercy, head-on.

Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life)
A classic Italian road comedy that was so good the film ministry recognized it as "culturally significant." Starring Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant, the film shows that for young men in love the rules of the road are only suggestions. And the rules for love? Hey, this is an Italian picture! Oh to be young and filled with joie de vivre or la dolce vita.
A french/italian fun filled movie with a surprising twist at the end.
Do you have a fun memory from your youth?
