At our **Speed Speaking** event, we come together in a cosy circle, taking turns responding to quick, playful, and thought-provoking prompts, ranging from lighthearted questions to unexpected twists that spark curiosity and smiles. We begin with gentle breathing or simple improv exercises to help everyone relax, feel present, and connect with the group. You’ll have up to two minutes per turn, just enough time to express yourself without pressure, so everyone gets multiple chances to step up and speak. Each round brings a fresh topic and an easy invitation to share. There’s no overthinking and no pressure to perform, just authentic moments and genuine voices. This is a space where you don’t need to be “good” or get anything right. It’s about enjoying the experience, exploring your voice, and connecting with others in a warm, supportive atmosphere. You’re free to jump in and share, or simply listen and take in the energy. Either way, you’ll be surrounded by laughter, kindness, and a welcoming sense of community. **Welcome to UK Mafia!** We meet regularly at **The Hydrant (Monument)** on the **Second Floor** (see large function room). Play the game that 'Traitors' is based upon! Mafia is a 10-player social game; it can get competitive, but it's easy to learn. We play at multiple tables. The **Mafia team** tries to hide and eliminate the **Citizens**, while the **Citizens** try to find the Mafia through deduction and logic. This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. Join us for a tour of Brothers Drake Meadery in Grandview, hosted by the owner Oron Benary. He will explain the mead-making process and offer us generous samples of their fine meads. Mead is basically wine that is made from honey instead of grapes. There are many different flavors that range from dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, to sweet. They are best known for their Apple Pie Mead. Oron has offered us a special price of 5.00 each person for the tour and tasting, which is normally 25.00 per person. I've taken the tour several times, and it's always enlightening and fun. Rebecca will bring a tea that will pair well with the mead for a tea tasting afterwards. Park anywhere around the building.
