Women in Product - Informal networking drinks 👩🍹 (in person)
Hi everyone,
Looking forward to the Bank Holiday? So are we! What better way to return to the workweek than a cheeky after-work networking event! This event will be relaxed and informal, with the chance to meet and connect with other Women in Product London members.
Please join us on **Wednesday 8th April** for a quick drink and a chat at [The Jack Horner Pub ](https://www.jackhornerpub.co.uk/)on Tottenham Court Road (nearest station) from 6:00pm until around 8:00pm. Spaces are limited so please make sure you book now. As this event is not sponsored, any food or drinks you order will need to be paid for at the bar.
See you soon

Speed Speaking for Confident Communication
At our **Speed Speaking** event, we come together in a cosy circle, taking turns responding to quick, playful, and thought-provoking prompts, ranging from lighthearted questions to unexpected twists that spark curiosity and smiles.
We begin with gentle breathing or simple improv exercises to help everyone relax, feel present, and connect with the group.
You’ll have up to two minutes per turn, just enough time to express yourself without pressure, so everyone gets multiple chances to step up and speak.
Each round brings a fresh topic and an easy invitation to share. There’s no overthinking and no pressure to perform, just authentic moments and genuine voices.
This is a space where you don’t need to be “good” or get anything right. It’s about enjoying the experience, exploring your voice, and connecting with others in a warm, supportive atmosphere.
You’re free to jump in and share, or simply listen and take in the energy. Either way, you’ll be surrounded by laughter, kindness, and a welcoming sense of community.
Along the way, you’ll naturally build confidence in public speaking through relaxed, human conversations, without it ever feeling forced.
You’ll leave feeling lighter, more at ease expressing yourself, and more confident using your voice both on stage and in everyday life.
Come for the conversation, stay for the connection, and leave with a stronger, more confident voice.
As our event is kindly hosted by the pub, we warmly encourage everyone to support the venue by purchasing a drink before this session. Your contribution helps us continue using this welcoming space and keeps these gatherings possible for everyone.
Kindly RSVP in good time and keep your attendance status up to date. As we’re limited to a maximum of 20 participants, this helps us manage the space and offer spots to others who’d love to join.
If you enjoy being here and find something meaningful in this event, you can always support me by leaving a little something 💛☕
No pressure at all, just your presence means a lot. But if you’d like to help me keep creating and hosting more moments like this, I truly appreciate it.
Thank you for being part of this!

Mafia Game & Social – Beginner Friendly – Hydrant (Monument)
**Welcome to UK Mafia!**
We meet regularly at **The Hydrant (Monument)** on the **Second Floor** (see large function room). It is near **London Bridge**. 1 Monument St, London EC3R 8BG
**Do I need to know anything beforehand?**
This is a **beginner-friendly** event, and most of you will be playing with us for the first time. You will get to play many games. Most importantly, this is a social activity, so feel free to talk to anyone between the games and have fun!
**♂️ What is Mafia?** Have you seen 'The Traitors'? Play the game that 'Traitors' is based upon! Mafia is a 10-player social game; it can get competitive, but it's easy to learn. We play at multiple tables. You get a secret role and work with your team to win. A game lasts about 45 minutes, so we play many during the day. The **Mafia team** tries to hide and eliminate the **Citizens**, while the **Citizens** try to find the Mafia through deduction and logic.
While this is a **beginner-only** event, we also host tournaments and online events with more experienced players from around the world. Ask us about our online games and trips abroad!✈️
***
**[How to Play?](https://bit.ly/HowToPlayMafia)**
We will teach you how to play when you arrive. You will quickly see that the game has two phases:
**Night:**
* The Mafia secretly targets a Citizen
* The *Don* (Mafia) learns if a player is the *Sheriff*
* The *Sheriff* (Citizen) learns if someone is Mafia
☀️ **Day:**
* Each player says in their turn who they think the Mafia are
* Then, everyone votes publicly to eliminate one player
The game continues until the Mafia are eliminated or they outnumber (or equal) the Citizens. We will explain all the rules at the venue, and you’ll pick it up.
Want to learn more about the game? See our wide range of resources, including brochures and videos: **[https://bit.ly/EMF-TIPS](https://bit.ly/EMF-TIPS)**
***
\*\* Why Mafia?\*\* Mafia is a global game played by over 15,000 people in 50+ countries, with clubs, tournaments, websites, and federations, like the [English Mafia Federation](https://bit.ly/EML2025) and the [Mafia World Cup](https://www.youtube.com/@MafiaWorldCup/streams).

April 2026 Meetup
Elixir London Meetup; February 2026 edition. All are welcome.
**Session 1: Anton Borisov - Distilling Kafka's Binary Protocol into Elixir**
We'll trace a produce request to show what any Kafka client has to get right. In the BEAM ecosystem, erlkaf wraps librdkafka, brod implements the protocol in Erlang, and [kafka_ex](https://hex.pm/packages/kafka_ex) goes pure Elixir.
Kafka_ex's approach is to generate serializers at compile time from Kafka's own schema definitions: plain structs, pattern matching, structural boilerplate isolated from the logic you actually think about. That design is what let us jump two major versions ahead and adapt to significant protocol changes. Let's dig into the idea, the code, and the tradeoffs.
**Session 2: Evadne Wu** **\- JavaScript Execution Strategies in Elixir\-based Agent Frameworks**
We'll look at integration points between elixir agents (in the AI fashion) and JavaScript execution, and all the foot guns involved.
*The event is kindly sponsored by* [Fresha](https://www.fresha.com).
**Time**
Doors open at 18, start at 18.30.
**Venue**
Fresha
The Bower, 207-211, Old St, Tower, London EC1V 9NR

Wine Not? (Women Only)
Wine Not? is a women-only gathering before the Balancers Saturday social.
Most attendees come solo, so it’s an easy and welcoming place to meet people and settle in before the night gets busier.
London can make meeting new people feel awkward, especially if you're coming alone. This early social creates a comfortable environment where you can chat, laugh, and get to know a few friendly faces first.
Expect a relaxed atmosphere, a few light games, and plenty of time to connect naturally.
Around **8.30 pm the main Balancers social begins**, and the room fills as over **150 people usually join the night**.
Wine Not? naturally flows into the rest of the evening, so you’re welcome to stay and enjoy the full experience.
Coming solo is completely normal. Our hosts will be there to help everyone feel comfortable, included, and connected from the start.

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.

Tour of Brothers Drake Meadery and mead/tea tasting
Join us for a tour of Brothers Drake Meadery in Grandview, hosted by the owner Oron Benary. He will explain the mead-making process and offer us generous samples of their fine meads.
Mead is basically wine that is made from honey instead of grapes. There are many different flavors that range from dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, to sweet. They are best known for their Apple Pie Mead.
Oron has offered us a special price of 5.00 each person for the tour and tasting, which is normally 25.00 per person. I've taken the tour several times, and it's always enlightening and fun.
Rebecca will bring a tea that will pair well with the mead for a tea tasting afterwards.
Park anywhere around the building. Please avoid parking in front of the houses in the neighborhood behind the Meadery.
Please keep your RSVP current. Knowing how many will attend will help Brothers Drake plan accordingly to accommodate us.
