This screening brings together three films by artist and filmmaker Maryam Tafakory, whose work moves between essay film, archival inquiry, and poetic montage. *Daria’s Night Flowers, Razeh-del,* and *Mast-del* draw on fragments of Iranian cinema, literature, and popular culture to explore desire, censorship, gender, and the politics of looking. Working through repetition, erasure, and reassembly, Tafakory creates films that linger on what is withheld or forbidden, transforming absence into a space of reflection and resistance. These works invite the viewer into a slowed, attentive mode of spectatorship, where images and words circulate as traces rather than statements, and where cinema becomes a site of intimate, speculative thought. In a time of busy schedules, changing identities, and endless online connection, what does real friendship mean? Is it about comfort and support, or honesty and growth? The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
