Never been to one of our meet-ups before? Been a member for a while or just joined? Either way this is the social for you!
Once a month we hold a special meet-up to welcome in new members. Regulars are encouraged to attend and help new members have a fun night out!
Our monthly “newbie” social is an opportunity to learn about our groups, events held and resources to help members.
More importantly it is an opportunity to meet others going through separation & divorce in a safe and friendly environment. We can all learn from each other, but the primary aim of the socials is to enjoy ourselves!
Our socials are hosted by members of the Divorce Support & Social Group and the Melbourne Divorce Support Group.
We pay for own food and drinks individually.
On Wednesday nights the Royal Melbourne has $20 pizza and pasta specials. Great food and great company.

Social Bouldering Night at BlocHaus Port Melbourne
Let’s meet for a casual evening of indoor bouldering at BlocHaus Port Melbourne.
Bouldering is climbing on shorter walls with padded mats, without ropes or harnesses. BlocHaus describes it as a social activity that can be done with or without a partner, and their first-time page says beginners can come along and hire what they need in-house.
We’ll meet near reception at 6:30pm, do a short warm-up/pre-workout, then start climbing around 7:00pm. You can climb as much or as little as you like, take breaks, watch others climb, or work on problems together.
This is not a competition or a formal coaching session. Everyone is responsible for climbing within their own ability and following BlocHaus rules/staff instructions.
**Who this is for**
* Beginner-friendly and suitable for people who want a relaxed social climb.
* Experienced climbers are also welcome, especially if you are happy to climb casually and help keep the vibe friendly.
* Solo attendees are very welcome. You do not need to come with a climbing partner.

This is the unhurried part: we will stop in on bookstores, an art gallery, an artists' market, take photos of interesting street art (there are quite a few side streets notable for street art).

Gratitude for Healing Pain

We experience pain in life but we are also given bad advice to forget about it.
We are told time will heal. Well what if we understood how to heal ourselves by knowing the potential of gratitude? Can we do an alchemical conversion of our emotions back into joy?
Based on her own book - ***The Alchemy of Gratitude,*** Amruta will take us through the ways we can find healing through energy transformation.
**Amruta Joshi** is a Gratitude Coach and a Meditation teacher.
She started Gratitude for Earth with her husband in 2020 during covid to help spread the awareness of gratitude as a mental health self-help tool. They conducted sessions on Meetups and in communities. They saw how instantly people's faces were lifted up by this simple practice. It led them to deep dive and create a whole community out of this.
Inspiration drawn from so many people led to Amruta writing her very first book - The Alchemy of Gratitude which was published in June last year. The book contains simple techniques for a daily habit of gratitude along with the alchemical process of transforming our lower emotions into higher joy.
**The MTS is committed to providing events that align with and further The three objects of The Theosophical Society:**

* To encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science.

Assertive Communication (NVC + DBT DEARMAN)
Saying what you actually need, without melting down or shutting down, is hard. For a lot of neurodivergent folks it is even harder: rejection sensitivity, masking, and a lifetime of being told we are "too much" or "too blunt" can leave us stuck between bottling things up and exploding.
This month we are getting practical. We will work through two well-tested toolkits for asking for what you want and setting boundaries that stick:
**NVC (Nonviolent Communication)**: a simple structure of observation, feeling, need, and request that helps you say the hard thing without blame or apology.
**DBT DEARMAN**: a step-by-step script (Describe, Express, Assert, Reinforce, stay Mindful, Appear confident, Negotiate) for getting a request across and holding your ground.
Expect plenty of real examples, low-pressure practice, and a chance to workshop a tricky conversation you have been avoiding. No prior knowledge needed. Come as you are, stim freely, step out whenever you need to.
This is a relaxed, judgement-free space for neurodivergent adults (ADHD, autistic, AuDHD, and the still-figuring-it-out crowd all welcome). Allies and partners welcome too.

Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
