Meetup #1 - The Launch!
Hello everyone! Welcome to the first Agentic AI London meet up. This event has been in the making since summer 2025 however... Running and organising meet up events is almost a full time job!
That being said I'm super excited to bring to you our line up for the launch event below;
**Matt Berry \| Solutions Architect @ WRITER**
***The rise of the AI builder: how value creation is shifting beyond engineering!***
Until now, building for the enterprise meant writing code and relying on engineering teams. That assumption is now changing. I will explore how AI is expanding who can build, enabling product, operations, marketing and domain experts to create real outcomes.
**Martin Schaer \| Solutions Engineer @ SurrealDB**
***Multi-Model RAG with SurrealDB & LangChain***
In the rapidly evolving field of AI, most of the work goes into optimisation – either maximising accuracy or minimising latency. In this talk, Martin will walk through an experiment building a chatbot that answers questions over chat-style conversations, and show where different retrieval strategies shine. He’ll explore when plain vector retrieval is enough, when lightweight graphs start to help, and how to handle tricky aspects like time awareness and evolving context, using LangChain components on top of a multi-model database. The focus will be on practical patterns and trade-offs rather than benchmarks.
A huge thank you to Vorboss LTD for hosting and sponsoring drinks as well as the WRITER team for sponsoring food for the evening!
Please arrive at 6pm for some networking, pizzas and drinks with the talks starting at 6.30pm sharp!

* **Speaker**: [Ash Berlin-Taylor](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashberlin-taylor/), Director of Airflow Engineering at [Astronomer](https://www.astronomer.io/) & Apache Airflow PMC Member
Apache Airflow® continues to thrive as the world’s leading open-source data orchestration platform, with 30M downloads per month and over 3k contributors. 2025 marked a major milestone with the release of Airflow 3, which introduced DAG versioning, enhanced security and task isolation, assets, and more. These changes have reshaped how data teams build, operate, and govern their pipelines.
In this session, our speaker will share insights from the State of Airflow 2026 report, including:
* Latest trends in how teams are using Airflow today
* What’s next for the project and ecosystem
* A discussion of emerging best practices and evolving use cases
Join us to hear directly from a leader in the community and discover how to get the most out of Airflow in the year ahead.
***Talk #2: Building the Apache TinkerPop Provider for Airflow***
* **Speaker**: [Ahmad Farhan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/atfarhan/), Data Engineer
Graph databases are powering everything from recommendation engines to fraud detection, but integrating graph operations into modern data pipelines has often required custom code and workarounds. Earlier this year, Ahmad built a new Apache TinkerPop provider for Airflow, making it easier than ever to orchestrate Gremlin queries, manage graph workloads, and connect Airflow to TinkerPop-enabled systems.
In this session, you’ll learn:
* What the TinkerPop provider does and why it matters for graph-based workloads
* How to run Gremlin queries and manage graph jobs directly within Airflow
* Real examples from the development process, including design decisions and lessons learned
* How this provider opens the door for new use cases in graph analytics and data engineering
Join us to explore how Airflow and TinkerPop can work together to streamline graph workflows and unlock new patterns in modern data pipelines.
**AGENDA**
* **5:30-6 PM:** Arrivals, networking, food & drinks
* **6-7:05PM:** Presentations
* **7:05-8PM:** Networking

2. [Sulaiman Ahmed, ML Engineer](https://suliahmed.com/), [Gardin](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sulaimankareem94/): *Solving Agriculture with Technology:* Making plant growth measurable
Modern agriculture faces a fundamental challenge: limited resources and increasingly expensive energy. Growers are under pressure to produce more food using less water, less power, and fewer inputs, all while maintaining high yield and standard quality over time. In this short presentation, I'm going to explore how measuring a few metrics effectively from the glasshouse can help address this challenge. I will also present some of the basic concepts in plant growth, some of the challenges that face growers, and how we solve them using data-driven methods.

Meetup #12 - The Octopus Organisation
Shaping our future with AI. Creating opportunity through AI fluency, connection and community.
No jargon. No hype. No confusing terminology.
**Join us for our next in-person meetup in London on Thursday January 29th.**
This month we're meeting the authors of the latest book published by Harvard Business Review: The Octopus Organisation - A Guide To Thriving In A World Of Continuous Transformation. We'll have signed copies of the book available as prizes on the night!
Sticking with the theme of transformation we're also excited to be hosting Masha Gaganova, a transformation leader with refreshingly grounded and practical advice about leading people through change!
**Where and When?**
* Thursday, January 29th
* Doors open at 18:00
* Talks start at 19:00
* Tessl HQ, 210 Pentonville Rd, London N1 9JY, UK
**The Octopus Organisation: Meet the authors**
In this fireside conversation we discover what an octopus organisation is and learn how to thrive in a world of continuous transformation. With AI driving transformation across businesses and teams of all sizes and industries, what can we learn from these experts in transformation at scale?
Drawing on their experience at companies such as Amazon and McDonald's and work with hundreds of global companies, authors Phil Le-Brun and Jana Werner show you how to break away from the broken model of transformation and embrace continuous change.
**Phil Le-Brun:**
Phil leads the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Executives in Residence team, comprising former CXOs who provide board and C-suite advisory. Prior to AWS, Phil held senior roles in McDonald’s Corporation including VP for Global Technology Development and International Chief Information Officer and has been recognised as one of the top 100 UK-based CIOs.
**Jana Werner:**
Jana Werner is an Executive in Residence at Amazon Web Services, where she guides the executive teams of Fortune 500 companies in building adaptive customer-centric organizations. Her academic background in uncertainty dynamics grounds her practical advice for leaders navigating complex environments and building resilient organizations.
**Talk: Wondering how to make a transformation work? Have lots of cups of tea** (Masha Gaganova, Transformation Consultant)
In real organisations, change doesn’t stick through frameworks, roadmaps, or shiny tools. It sticks when someone takes the time to build trust one-to-one, name what’s happening, and hold the boundary when discomfort shows up.
In this talk, Masha shares patterns from leading transformation in complex, high-stakes environments from digital and AI adoption to new ways of working. Why sustainable change creates temporary discomfort. Why softening the message kills momentum. Why people don’t resist change, they resist being left out of it.
**Masha Gagonova:**
Masha Gaganova is an international transformation leader, Fractional Change Partner, and speaker with 15+ years driving strategy and change across pharma, medtech, healthtech, and the public sector. Her work always starts with the end user, often a patient, and connects strategy, technology, and human behaviour to deliver measurable impact.

Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers
The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way?
This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents.
Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to:
Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture.
Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases.
Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI.
Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem.
Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does.
Want to be a speaker? submit your talk to our Call for Presenters!!!
