Wellness Wonder: Breezy Yoga @Harbour Front
In this 1‑hour class, we practice gentle stretching and Hatha yoga with mindful breathing, focusing on basic poses, clear alignment and slow, steady movement. The pace is beginner‑friendly, with options to go deeper if you already have some experience, and the goal is to leave you feeling calmer, lighter and more connected to your body.
I didn’t grow up with a sports background, and my body is naturally quite stiff and not very coordinated – that’s exactly why yoga has been so helpful for me. It gave me a gentle way to start moving, and over time it’s helped me build flexibility, mobility and strength in a way that feels kind and sustainable. If you feel stiff, out of practice or nervous about joining a class, you’re very welcome here – this session is designed with beginners and “not‑so‑sporty” people in mind.
**This class is for you if you:**
● Are new to yoga or returning after a break
● Want a simple movement routine without a gym/studio membership
● Prefer small, relaxed groups and a supportive atmosphere
● Are local or travelling and want to enjoy the waterfront with mindful exercise
**About the instructor – Sophia Chu**
Sophia is a 200‑hour certified yoga teacher and practicing landscape architect with experience in hospitality design, giving her a strong eye for space, atmosphere and how nature and cities shape how we feel. She is also a landscape architecture lecturer, used to guiding groups step by step and helping beginners feel at ease.
Originally from Taiwan, she has lived abroad for over two decades, teaches fluently in English and Chinese, and welcomes people from all backgrounds. Since 2021 she has run the social Meetup group Wondering Wanderer and leads yoga sessions with FitFam Hong Kong, creating comfortable spaces for people to move, relax and connect.
**Class fee**
Free event – no payment required.
☆ This April class is offered as a community introduction session so you can try Wellness Wonder’s outdoor yoga, meet the group, and share feedback before we start regular paid classes later in the year.
**What to bring / wear**
● Your own yoga mat
● Small towel (optional)
● Comfortable clothing you can move in
Mats for newcomers (first come, first served):
● 1 soft foam mat (very beginner‑friendly)
● 1 thin rubber mat (more grip for those with some experience)
☆ Please message in advance if you need to borrow a mat.
**Meeting point**
Wood deck by the waterfront in Tamar Park. Please check the photo/map on this event page for the exact spot and arrive about 10 minutes early to settle in. If you have trouble finding us, contact Sophia via Meetup.
**Weather & Cancellation**
If rain or bad weather is forecast, we may move to a covered area nearby or reschedule. Updates will be posted on this event page 2–3 hours before class.
**Memeber's Cancellation / RSVP**
Out of respect for the host and other participants, please update your RSVP if you can’t attend. If possible, cancel at least 48 hours before class so your spot can go to someone else and the session can be planned properly. We understand that sudden illness or emergencies can happen – in those cases, just send a quick message when you can.
**Disclaimer**
By signing up and attending this event, you acknowledge that you are participating voluntarily and are responsible for your own health and safety. This class is not a substitute for medical advice, and you agree to practice within your limits and inform the instructor of any relevant conditions or injuries. April 2026 - Everything Is Tuberculosis - John Green
For our fourth book, we have the acclaimed bestseller which explores why the curable disease of tuberculosis is still endemic in much of the world.
'AN ACCLAIMED BEST BOOK OF 2025: NPR, Scientific American, Science News. Goodreads Readers’ Choice Nonfiction Winner.
Tuberculosis has been entwined with humanity for millennia. Once romanticized as a malady of poets, today tuberculosis is seen as a disease of poverty that walks the trails of injustice and inequity we blazed for it.
In 2019, author John Green met Henry Reider, a young tuberculosis patient at Lakka Government Hospital in Sierra Leone. John became fast friends with Henry, a boy with spindly legs and a big, goofy smile. In the years since that first visit to Lakka, Green has become a vocal advocate for increased access to treatment and wider awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, preventable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing over a million people every year.
In Everything Is Tuberculosis, John tells Henry’s story, woven through with the scientific and social histories of how tuberculosis has shaped our world—and how our choices will shape the future of tuberculosis.'
This book is available on Kindle. For international delivery you can find it from Blackwells and it may also be available at the library or an English language book store.
We are a "real" book club, which means we do read the book before the meet-up and discuss it. New members are always welcome.
We need to notify the venue about how many will attend, so please make sure your RSVP status is accurate.
Hope to see you there!

Bhutanese Movie Night in Peng Chau
Hi there everybody! We invite you all to come enjoy Peng Chau island to our next movie night on 26th of April. This time we will watch our first Bhutan movie. We have chosen the movie called 'Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait' (2016) from director Khyentse Norbu: he chronicles a sacred jungle ritual whose masked, anonymous participants seek after complete self-knowledge.
The movie will have English subtitles. If you want to watch a Bhutan movie for the first time come and enjoy!
We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in a terrace in Peng Chau. There is a ferry at 5:50pm from Central Pier N6 and arrives in Peng Chau at 6:30pm. I can meet people at the pier at 6:30pm. Or if you want to spend the day in Peng Chau and meet each other afterwards that's also fine!
Please let me know if you are coming beforehand so we can prepare for us to meet and take you to the address. We want to encourage discussion about the movie and its theme afterwards. We will prepare some questions so we can debate about it together! You can bring your own food too. Also if you have more ideas on how to make our experience more fun, feel free to share it! If you have any question you can message me :) Hope to see you soon!
