To support the Government’s initiative to develop artificial intelligence (AI) as a core industry and to enable traditional sectors to upgrade and transform through AI adoption, the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) is organising the 2026 seminar series “AI Empowerment: Enhancing Industry Capabilities.” The first seminar, titled “AI and Urban Planning: Building Smarter Cities,” will bring together business leaders and industry experts to examine the transformative role of AI in construction and property technology. Discussions will focus on how AI-driven innovations can improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability; enhance customer experiences; create new business models; and open up growth opportunities, while addressing associated challenges and impacts. Through industry leaders’ sharing of effective AI and data analytics applications, the series aims to foster cross-sector collaboration and knowledge exchange, promote best practices, support the development of intelligent infrastructure, and advance the industry in alignment with government initiatives on smart cities and green building development. Hi there everybody! We invite you all to come enjoy Peng Chau island to our next movie night on 22th of March. This time we will watch our first Ecuadorian movie. We have chosen two movies from Ecuador, one short and another longer. The first short is called 'Willkawiwa (The Sacred Fire of the Dead) (2022)' from director Pavés Quevedo Ullauri. The second long movie is called 'Ozogoche' (2023) from director Joe Houlberg: Cuviví is the Ecuadorean indigenous name for the upland sandpiper, a wading bird that has special significance for the communities living around the Ozogoche lakes in the middle of the Andes. The movie will have English subtitles. If you want to watch a Ecuadorian movie for the first time come and enjoy! We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in a terrace in Peng Chau. There is a ferry at 5:50pm from Central Pier N6 and arrives in Peng Chau at 6:30pm. I can meet people at the pier at 6:30pm. Or if you want to spend the day in Peng Chau and meet each other afterwards that's also fine! Please let me know if you are coming beforehand so we can prepare for us to meet and take you to the address. We want to encourage discussion about the movie and its theme afterwards. We will prepare some questions so we can debate about it together! You can bring your own food too. Also if you have more ideas on how to make our experience more fun, feel free to share it! Our primary groups are outdoor movement groups, but we are launching virtual groups for the state of Ohio and beyond and the groups will move outside in the spring, creating room for men's groups, women's groups and coed groups all over the country. We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
