Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.* *Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.* *I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.* *In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.* **THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**

As usual for the first Saturday group, you may use both English and Spanish during the book discussion; you just need an acceptable level of oral comprehension of both languages to fully enjoy it.

Trooz - Pepinster (22km)
Trooz - Pepinster (22km)
It may be winter but we still need to keep our legs in shape, so let's do some climbing with a hike from **Trooz to Pepinster** (\~22km, 550m elevation). We will climb out of the valley of the Vesdre, follow a pilgrimage route through the forest and finish the walk along the valley of the HoĂ«gne to Pepinster. With luck, there will be a bar open for our traditional drink (optional) before taking the train back to Brussels. **The weather forecast is partly sunny but quite cold, so bring warm clothes and rain jacket just in case. The path will be muddy and slippery in places so wear good shoes, preferably walking boots.** **We will walk at an average speed of 5km/h. This is quite fast.** We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. I’ve never walked this route before, so it’s possible there are some mistakes in the planning. **You can find the GPX track here:** [https://mapy.com/s/natenomugu](https://mapy.com/s/natenomugu) **Meeting point and train** We will meet at **8:45** in front of the Starbucks in **Brussels Central**. The train **IC 507 (Eupen)** leaves from **platform 3 at 9:01** (you can also join this train at Brussel Zuid 8:56, Brussel Noord 9:07). It arrives at **10:01 in Liege** where we change on to train **S41 5010 (Verviers-Central & Aachen Hbf) at 10:19** from **platform 5**. We arrive in **Trooz at 10:34.** **Train tickets** \- Single Brussels to Trooz\, € 14\.40 or € 8\.60 with Train\+ \- Single Pepinster to Brussels\, € 14\.90 or € 9 with Train\+ You probably want to buy the Train+ card for the price of € 6 (1 month) or € 48 (12 months). It can be bought in the SNCB/NMBS app or at ticket machines. **Train back to Brussels** There are trains every hour at xx:13 from Pepinster to Liege, changing on to the Brussels train arriving 1h42 minutes later. **Specifics** Distance: \~22 km Elevation gain: \~550 m Net walking time: \~5.5h Level: ***Intermediate (lots of climbing)*** **In the unlikely case of too bad weather, we may cancel a hike, even a few hours before the event. If this happens, we will of course update the Meetup website and send out a message to those registered. So, it is important to have access to either the [Meetup.com](http://Meetup.com) website and/or your email.** **What to bring** **\- lunch \- we will *not* stop at a cafe/restaurant for lunch** \- comfortable hiking clothes – waterproof hiking shoes \- extra socks to change \+ compeed for blisters \- water \(min 2l\) and enough food for the breaks \- sun protection oil\, a head and sunglasses OR a raincoat (please consult the weather forecast on [www.meteo.be](http://www.meteo.be/)) \- mosquito/tick repellent \- some money for drinks/snacks/etc **Basic rules** The number of participants is limited, so make sure that you RSVP only if you really intend to come. If your plans change, update your RSVP asap. This is basic courtesy towards others. Last day cancellations, no-shows and Internet warriors are not appreciated. Only people whose name appears on the main list may come to the hike. **Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability** You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you choose to take part. As participation in this event is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. HIDDEN GEMS IN THE MAROLLES
HIDDEN GEMS IN THE MAROLLES
Join us on Sunday, 8 February 2026 for a relaxed Photoresk photo walk through the Marolles, Brussels’ most characterful quarter. We’ll meet at 11:15 at Place du Jeu de Balle, explore lesser‑known corners and textures, then visit at least one exhibition linked to the PhotoBrussels Festival. We’ll wrap with lunch in the Marolles (vegetarian option available), with Matonge as a backup lunch zone. **Plan** * 11:15 Meet at Place du Jeu de Balle – entrance of the church Maria Immaculata. * Hidden‑gems walk: flea market, Rue Haute/Rue Blaes, murals and courtyards. * Exhibition: one PhotoBrussels Festival venue * Lunch: Marolles bistro/cafĂ©; one vegetarian option guaranteed. * Public transport only; short, frequent hops; mostly walking. **Who’s coming** * Brussels and members traveling from Heerlen (NL), Cologne, Luxembourg, and elsewhere (primarily by train). Aim to arrive Brussels‑Central 10:30–10:45. See also [Photoresk.com ](https://photoresk.com/events/photoresk-brussels-hidden-gems-in-the-marolles/) **What to bring** * Compact kit, comfortable shoes with grip, rain/wind shell, and a sense of curiosity for “hidden gems.” Non‑flash museum etiquette. **Weather plan** * We’ll adapt for rain/wind/cold with covered routes and indoor photo options (churches, galleries, arcades). Final go/modify/pivot posted on the morning. **RSVP** * Please RSVP early and update if your plans change. If you have dietary/access needs, tell us by Friday so we can coordinate lunch and access with venues. **Notes** * PhotoBrussels Festival Sunday hours differ by venue; we will verify week‑of. Place du Jeu de Balle flea market is active mornings (ends \~14:00). Many shops in the Marolles have variable Sunday opening; we’ll treat browsing as a bonus.
Tennis doubles (NOT FOR BEGINNERS) - White Star Evere
Tennis doubles (NOT FOR BEGINNERS) - White Star Evere
Hello! This is a meet-up to play tennis from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday. Meeting is on the courts. The courts are booked under the name Jean-Marc. This event is for intermediate and advanced players and not organised for novice players or beginners. Please make sure to bring the exact sum of 10 € in cash. The event is non-commercial. This sum covers the cost of the courts reserved. The organizer is not there to make money out of you. Ladies are encouraged to join. If anyone wants to drop out, they should do it on Saturday morning, not on Sunday the day of the meetup, another wise it would be too late to find a replacement in time or to cancel a court in time with reimbursement. If you don't do this, you will be asked by the organizer to reimburse your participation fee. If this happens too late then those who have cancelled after Saturday morning will have to cover the extra cost for reserving the courts. In the past meetups, it happened too many times that we were an oneven number and because of that all those present had less fun to play. If you don't show up without giving a written excuse in time, the first future participation will be cancelled and you will be asked to reimburse the participation fee. If it happens too many times you will not be able to participate anymore. In case if we are an uneven number of players, then the last player (except the host of course who has to collect the money) can leave or persuade other players to play with him or her. Of course if the last player leaves, then he or she doesn't have to pay the participation fee. If this player leaves, he or she will be added on a future event by the host or organizer in the participation list if the player is far away in the waiting list. This is the advantage of leaving on a voluntary basis;-). We operate on the principle of Fair Play as we do not have umpires or referees. Any disputes or disagreements over line calls or scores should be resolved immediately on the court and, when agreement is not possible, the point or game should be replayed. To be able to replay the game, 3 players need to agree on that without manipulation of the one who disputes an entire game, anotherwise injustice could occur where in the end possibly the biggest cheater could win... This situation applies also, if the host or the organizer is involved. When one of the players still doesn't accept this compromise, then it should be reported (meetup message by preference) to the organizer or host of the meetup event. One of the consequences could be that the first upcoming event could be cancelled by the organizer for the player who doesn't comply with the compromise to play the point or the game again. If the same player does that again for a second time, then the person will see 4 of his next tennis meetups cancelled. If this happens a third time with the same player, then the player in question will be banned from all future tennis meetups with an exclusion as a final result. Whenever there is a big problem, it should be reported as well to the organizer of the group so he can, if necessary, take actions to improve the situation for all the players. Please also note that if you are the first on the waiting list, you will automatically be moved up to the attendance list if someone pulls out. So if you are on the waiting list and see that you cannot attend, please also change your status to not going. If you would like to organize a meet up either this week or next week please get in touch with me, my name is Jean-Marc. It will depend on your initiatives to create more tennis meetups per week.
Into the Woods... (~14-15k)
Into the Woods... (~14-15k)
Our journey takes us once more under the towering beech cathedral of the **ForĂȘt de Soignes**. We’ll begin our transition from city to nature at the threshold where Brussels meets the wild: the entrance to **Bois de la Cambre**. Standing before the **stark white pavilions**—those historic sentinels of the park—we’ll gather our strength before disappearing into the deep greens and dappled light of the ancient woodland. We will go over light trails and firm forest paths (trail shoes aren't a necessity but advisable) - depending on the weather conditions the route may be adapted. [Find us on Strava](https://www.strava.com/clubs/1211350/group_events/3431563936572874958) What to Expect: * Distance: \~14-15 km * Pace : 6-6:15 min/km * Good Company: Run with like-minded individuals and make new friends. * Post-Run Coffee: Optional gathering at 'Cafe de La Presse' for coffee and refreshments. * **Bag Drop: Available** Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability in all claims. As the participation is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves.

Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way? This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents. Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to: Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture. Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases. Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI. Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem. Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does. Want to be a speaker? submit your talk to our Call for Presenters!!! [https://sessionize.com/azure-cbus-2026/](https://sessionize.com/azure-cbus-2026/)
