Manuel Wendl holds a master’s degree in pharmacy and has led the Johann Strauss Pharmacy in Vienna as concessionaire since May 2023, focusing on sexual health, trans health and accessible, inclusive care for the LGBTQIA+ community. **Ablauf** 18:00 Uhr Einlass 18:30 Uhr Begrüßung 18:35 Uhr Bühnengespräch mit Manuel Wendl im Anschluss: Get-together Eintritt frei - Spenden, um die Freizeitgruppe LGBTQ+ Friends Vienna am laufen zu halten, sind herzlich willkommen. **=> English:** We are excited to launch Queer Talks as a new and extended format of our regular Get-Together at LGBTQ+ Friends Vienna. Alongside socialising and meeting new people, this format creates space for meaningful conversations on topics that matter to our community. For this edition, we welcome Manuel Wendl for a moderated stage conversation on queer health and wellbeing. Please note: This time, the main conversation will be held in German. At the same time, we want everyone to feel included, so the most important insights will be regularly summarised in English throughout the talk. The social Get-Together part of the evening is also intentionally multilingual, making it easier for both German- and English-speaking guests to connect. After the talk, there will be time for questions in English from the audience, followed by an open and relaxed networking part. Free Entry - a voluntary contribution welcome to keep the group active.

Table for 6½: Peking Duck
Table for 6½: Peking Duck
Peking duck (different to the simpler Knüsprige Ente) is distinctive for its ultra-crisp, lacquered skin and the contrast with tender meat. The duck is air is pumped under the skin to separate it from the fat, then it is seared and coated with a maltose syrup glaze, hung to air-dry for many hours so the skin tightens, and finally roasted at high heat in a specialised oven. Sinohouse is regarded as the most authentic place in Vienna for Peking Duck. Normally when you go here you can only have it as a multi-course menu for €77 each. However, I have negotiated that we get Peking Duck just as an appetiser with thin rice pancakes - for €19 each, (which I will collect), and then everyone can order whatever they like on top from the North Chinese menu *** What Table for 6½ is about: Great food, Great people, Great conversations For each event, a small group of 4-8 people (not exactly 6 1/2, but thereabouts), in a nice restaurant, with enough space and a conducive environment in which to eat, drink, talk and think. As the table size is limited to max 8 people: \- You must sign up on Meetup to attend \- It’s really important to cancel if you’re not coming

Doing Well, But Still Asking “Is This It?”
Doing Well, But Still Asking “Is This It?”
Things can look good on paper — steady work, progress, stability — and still feel strangely flat on the inside. No crisis. No breakdown. Just a quiet question: *Is this it?* This workshop is for people who are functioning well, but sense that something doesn’t fully line up. Together, we’ll explore what psychologists call the ***success–fulfillment gap***: the difference between external success and inner experience. Through a few guided reflection exercises, you’ll learn how to better distinguish these signals in your own life — **not to make big decisions**, but to gain clarity. No coaching. No therapy. No pressure to change anything. Just a thoughtful space to reflect and recalibrate. 🌱 **What to expect 🧭** * A short, accessible introduction to the **success–fulfillment gap** * Simple, guided reflection exercises * A calm, structured space to think and discuss in pairs You’ll leave with a clearer sense of how **success and fulfillment show up differently** in your own experience. **Who should attend 👥** This workshop is for you if: * you’re working or building something and generally doing “okay” * you value reflection, but don’t want therapy or motivation talks * you’ve had moments of thinking “*Is this really it?*” — without being in crisis * you’re curious about purpose, clarity, and inner orientation You don’t need to feel successful, stuck, or lost to attend — just open to reflection. **Logistics 🗓️** * **Cost**: Free of charge * **Where**: Impact Hub Vienna, [Lindengasse 56, 1070 Wien](https://www.google.com/maps/place//data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x476d078cbc5cf79b:0x3e9197850789a772?sa=X&ved=1t:8290&ictx=111) * **When: Thursday, April 16th, 2026, 18:00 CET** * **Duration**: 90 minutes ⚠️ **Limited to 14 participants** to keep the space focused and personal. That strategy creates results—but it also creates blind spots. Because real growth doesn’t come from eliminating the “bad.” It comes from integrating the full spectrum. **Beyond good and bad is where the magic happens.** Polarity invites a different way of operating: not choosing one side, but expanding your capacity to hold both. Confidence and doubt. Control and surrender. Success and failure. When you stop rejecting parts of your experience, you unlock a deeper level of clarity, resilience, and creative power. At this LibaTea meetup, we explore what it means to move beyond binary thinking and into wholeness—where nothing needs to be suppressed, and everything can be used. This is not a motivational talk. It is a room of high-performing expats and entrepreneurs exploring a more complete way to think, lead, and live. Expect sharp conversations, honest perspectives, and people who are ready to go deeper. **You will explore:** * Why high performers often reject parts of themselves that actually drive growth * The hidden cost of labeling experiences as purely “good” or “bad” * How integrating the full spectrum increases clarity, adaptability, and performance * How polarity thinking expands leadership, relationships, and decision-making * This meetup is for founders, creators, investors, executives, and ambitious professionals in Vienna who want to expand beyond conventional thinking and operate with more depth, awareness, and impact. **Event flow (ca 90 minutes):** * Arrival & welcome * Breath, tea orders * Guided reflection rounds * Closing integration **About LibaTea** LibaTea is a community exploring liberation through reflection, conversation, and community. We host weekly tea circles and monthly masterminds that bring together thoughtful people interested in personal growth, wellbeing, and meaningful connection. **Why tea?** Tea rituals have been used for centuries to create presence and connection. By slowing down and sharing tea together, we create a simple but powerful setting for reflection, insight, and real connection.
**Dieter Langenecker** [www.langenecker.com](www.langenecker.com)

Science Meets Mindfulness – From Anger to Compassion
Science Meets Mindfulness – From Anger to Compassion
**Pause. Sense. Feel. Transform.** **Anger, rage, and frustration are part of being human. Yet when left unchecked, they can hijack our nervous system, cloud communication, and strain our relationships.** **This two-part experiential workshop series offers a grounded, science based path to meeting anger with awareness; and transforming it into clarity, empathy, and compassion.** **Blending neuroscience, mindfulness practices, embodied movement, and mindful communication tools, we explore how anger affects the body and brain; and how it can become a powerful gateway to self understanding and deeper connection with others.** **Through guided meditation, reflective journaling, gentle movement, visualisation, pair and group exercises, you’ll learn how to rechannel stress, regulate your nervous system, and engage with conflict in a more conscious and compassionate way.** **Part 1: Rechanneling Stress and Understanding Our Needs** **We all experience anger and frustration, when we feel disrespected, unheard, or blocked from reaching our goals. These emotions can feel overwhelming and have a strong impact on our nervous system and well-being. How can we navigate these moments without being overtaken by them?** **In this first workshop, we focus on understanding anger from the inside out. We explore how emotional hijacking and chronic stress work in the brain and body, and how our internal narratives and unmet needs fuel reactive patterns. With curiosity** **and compassion, we begin to transform anger into self-awareness and self-care.** **You’ll explore:** **● The neuroscience of anger, rage, stress response, and emotional hijacking** **● How bodily sensations and internal narratives shape anger** **● Identifying the feelings and unmet needs behind frustration** **● How to rechannel anger through breath, visualisation, and gentle movement** **● Using mindful self-talk and mantras to express needs** **● Cultivating self-compassion as a foundation for clarity and regulation** **The Mindful BAse x Villa Vida** **Where science meets mindfulness – for awareness, connection, and community.** **At The Mindful BAse, we believe that mindfulness is not only a personal practice, but also a powerful way to strengthen relationships, communities, and our connection with our environment.
Socrates Cafés are gatherings around the world where people from different backgrounds get together and exchange thoughtful ideas and experiences while embracing the Socratic Method; the idea that we learn more when we question, and question with others. Although this may be considered a "philosophical" group, there are no rules as to what is discussed. Those attending decide upon the questions of the night. Usually, the topics revolve around social concerns, moral issues, and the first principles of things. Prior to each meeting we vote online for the questions we will discuss. That way, we will have enough time to ruminate on them and have more in-depth conversations. If you RSVP to a meeting, you may post your question in the event comments section below. I'll send out a survey for voting a few days prior to the meetup. We discuss two questions each night. So you will get to cast two votes in the survey. When we meet, we break into smaller groups of five to seven to discuss the top two vote-getters. Each group discusses one question for around 45-50 minutes, and we then take a short break. After reconvening, each group moves on to its second question. Hope to see you there! -Brian
Nature's God: The Heretical Origins of the American Republic, cont'd
Nature's God: The Heretical Origins of the American Republic, cont'd
This will be our last meeting on *Nature's God: The Heretical Origins of the American Republic*, by Matthew Stewart. For this meeting, please read the last two chapters: Chapter 7: The Empire of Reason Chapter 8: The Religion of Freedom **Where did the ideas come from that became the cornerstone of American democracy?** America’s founders intended to liberate us not just from one king but from the ghostly tyranny of supernatural religion. Drawing deeply on the study of European philosophy, Matthew Stewart brilliantly tracks the ancient, pagan, and continental ideas from which America’s revolutionaries drew their inspiration. In the writings of Spinoza, Lucretius, and other great philosophers, Stewart recovers the true meanings of “Nature’s God,” “the pursuit of happiness,” and the radical political theory with which the American experiment in self-government began. [LINK](https://a.co/d/bkTWJNb) I recommend using an AI tool like ChatGPT to ask these questions: 1. What does Matthew Stewart say about the empire of reason in his book Nature's God? 2. What does Matthew Stewart say about the religion of freedom? I hope to see you there! Fred
Speaking the Language of Virtues: Transforming Everyday Interactions
Speaking the Language of Virtues: Transforming Everyday Interactions
What if the way we speak—to our families, colleagues, and communities—could actively bring out the best in others? Join us for an elevated conversation on how to incorporate the language of virtues into our daily interactions, inspired by the work of The Virtues Project. This approach centers on recognizing and naming the positive qualities—such as courage, kindness, integrity, and perseverance—that exist within each person and moment. Together, we’ll explore how using the language of virtues can: * Strengthen relationships and build trust * Shift conversations from reactive to intentional * Encourage growth, accountability, and mutual respect * Create more positive, purpose-driven environments at home and at work Through discussion, examples, and shared experiences, you’ll gain practical ways to integrate this language into everyday moments—from giving feedback to navigating conflict. Come join a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the underlying truths that unite us all – on what we can do through our use of words to contribute to a better world. Join us for an open and respectful conversation where participants can share perspectives, experiences, and insights. Whether you come to speak or simply to listen, all thoughtful voices are welcome.

“Good Job”: A Conversation on Seeing, Valuing, and Uplifting One Another
“Good Job”: A Conversation on Seeing, Valuing, and Uplifting One Another
Inspired by the song "Good Job" by Alicia Keys, this gathering invites us to pause and reflect on the quiet strength, resilience, and everyday efforts that often go unseen. How often do we acknowledge the people who keep things moving—at work, at home, in our communities? And how often do we recognize that same perseverance in ourselves? In this conversation, we’ll explore: * The power of simple recognition and encouragement * How affirmation can strengthen resilience and connection * Ways to create environments where people feel seen and valued * The impact of gratitude on culture, leadership, and well-being Through reflection and shared dialogue, we’ll consider how a simple phrase—*“good job”*—can carry deeper meaning when it’s grounded in sincerity and awareness. Come join a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the underlying truths that unite us all – on seeing, valuing, and uplighting one another. Join us for an open and respectful conversation where participants can share perspectives, experiences, and insights. Whether you come to speak or simply to listen, all thoughtful voices are welcome.

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: Doom and Dinosaurs
Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: Doom and Dinosaurs
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **“Doom and Dinosaurs,”** a look at how mass extinctions shaped the dinosaurs and what research on these events tells us about Earth life’s long-term prospects, with Ian Wilenzik, paleontologist and visiting assistant professor of biology at George Washington University. [Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-dino-doom](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-dino-doom) .] Pity the poor dinosaurs. They lacked both scientific research to help deal with potential environmental catastrophes and places where they could have a beer and discuss it. You, on the other hand, have the opportunity to come to Profs and Pints to hear a fascinating talk on the impact of mass extinctions on dinosaur evolution and what research on dinosaurs tells us about biodiversity and Earth’s current biodiversity crisis. Dr. Ian Wilenzik, who has studied and taught courses on dinosaur evolution, population spread, and extinction, will leave you with a greater appreciation of the resilience of life on earth and how we’re both the product and source of biologically catastrophic events. Many of us are familiar with how a big meteor impact about 66 million years ago wiped out the Earth’s dinosaur population, leaving us only with their feathered descendants, birds. Less well known is how the Earth actually has undergone five periods of mass extinction that wiped out nearly all life, and how dinosaurs arose from one and endured another—both caused by volcanic activity—before meeting their match in the third. To ground his discussion, Dr. Wilenzik will talk about how we study mass extinctions by looking for geologic evidence of volcanic activity, meteoric blasts, and other catastrophic activity and of gaps in the fossil record after them. He’ll also discuss what makes a dinosaur a dinosaur, describing their distinct anatomical features. He’ll talk about how they and other forms of life evolved over long periods of time and were affected by extinction events. We’ll look at how the meteor-caused mass extinction that wiped out dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous paved the way for the rise of mammals and the emergence of primates, and, eventually, us. Looking ahead to future mass extinctions and what might survive them, we’ll talk about how that plant you forget to water might have the last laugh, as well as why crocodiles might be around a while. (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. The talk starts 30 minutes later.)
