We will be playing **The Castles of Burgundy**, the classic award-winning game by Stefen Feld. We have multiple copies of the game. So RSVPs are wide open. *Description of* The Castles of Burgundy *from BGG:* Set in the Burgundy region of High Medieval France, **The Castles of Burgundy** puts players in the role of aristocrats, each originally controlling a small princedom. Over the course of the game, players will expand their lands by building settlements and powerful castles, trading along the river, mining silver, and gaining knowledge from travelers. Gameplay revolves around using dice to select settlement tiles from the central game board and strategically placing them into your personal Duchy board to optimize your princedom’s growth and efficiency.

If you know the game, but it has been years since you've played, that is fine as we've all been there and will be patient while it comes flooding back to you. 2. **New To The Group:** If you have never been, we are a friendly group and welcome everyone to come. Very few people come with a friend or spouse. What this means is that it will not be awkward to arrive alone. It is better than a happy hour because it is easy to make conversation about cards. You don't have to even ask the dreaded "what do you do?" question. If you come three times, you are a regular. Also, house rules are that we play stick the dealer (ask if you don't know this variation). 3. **Correct Table Count:** Euchre is a 4 person game--yes, I know there are 3 and 6 person variations, but most people prefer the 4 person game. What this means is that if you sign-up, we are counting on you to be there. The deadline for RSVP is 2 days prior to the meet-up. Please update by that time, especially if you are going to cancel your RSVP. If you get 3 "no shows" and you'll only be able to sign up via an organizer. 4. **The Waiting List:** If this month is like the previous months, we will have a waiting list. Please be considerate and honor your RSVP. Of course, if you are sick and on death's door we don't want you to come out and get the rest of us sick; however, if not please do come play. A good evening of food, drink, cards, and friendship may be all that you need to be more productive the next day. If you are on the waiting list I am expecting you to either remove yourself if you don't want to be considered for an open slot, or check the site (or email) so you know you've been promoted to an RSVP of YES when a slot opens up. 5. **Costs:** There are some costs associated with meetup -- I have to pay Meetup every 6 months for listing on their website. Arcs, again! There was interest for another play and learn of Arcs. I can’t do weekends for a while so I’m trying to setup a game night, possibly at a games store, but maybe at another location. I’ve put down best Thursday (2nd), but I’m a little flexible. If you’re interested, rsvp and let me know what days work for you next week. FYI: Arcs is a confrontational game of battle, resource collection, area control, and has a unique action selection system. and is medium-heavy in terms of rules weight, taking about 3 hours to play.

*Wingspan* is a competitive, medium-weight, card-driven, engine-building board game. You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth: * Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower * Lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors * Draw from hundreds of unique bird cards and play them The winner is the player with the most points after 4 rounds.

Lets meet at Quarter Market in Ballston Quarter to play board games. We play a variety of games with a focus on Eurogames. If you don't know any of the games provided, be prepared to learn a new one. You are also welcome to bring your own games. Please be mindful of other customers using Quarter Market, and make sure there is available table space for them. If table space is limited, consider other nearby locations. Shake Shack, El Rey, We the Pizza, and Cava are located across the street and have table space.

Everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated, but not required. I just got mine. I don't want to get any of my friends sick! I will, however, be screening for a standard set of COVID symptoms. If you are showing any symptoms that could make people nervous, please postpone coming to the meetup till you're over it. While sneezing is not a COVID symptom, I think folks would rather not risk getting even a cold right now, so again please don't show up if this is the case, even if you're sure it is just an allergy. On the other hand, no masks are required, although feel free if it'd make you more comfortable. General day of games! Whatever folks feel like playing. Bring your own or learn a new one! If you want to play a longer game, you might want to propose it on the meetup discussion to judge interest. I'll have snacks and soda on hand. Additional snacks or soda welcome. We usually order out for dinner and then continue on till 10pm. The games we usually play tend towards those requiring more thinking than typical family or party games and they are usually in the 2-4 hour range. We play a variety of games with a focus on high interaction Euros. Events will start with quick games while people arrive and eat lunch. We will start longer games between 1:30pm and 2pm.
