This formidable **Norman motte and bailey fortress**, built in the **11th century** beside the **River Medway**, provides a dramatic start to our day’s hike through one of **Kent’s most historic landscapes**. Our route takes us past the **village of Leigh** and towards **Penshurst Place**, an extraordinary **medieval manor** dating from **1341** and one of the most complete examples of **14th-century domestic architecture** in England. In **Tudor times** it became a **hunting lodge for Henry VIII**, and today it remains an evocative reminder of **England’s aristocratic past**. From here, we head into **Haysden Country Park**, where the trail opens into **lush meadows**, **tranquil woodlands, lakes, rivers** and the **gentle hills of the High Weald** — a landscape renowned for its **rich medieval character** and **ancient woodland**. **Come join other adults play the outdoor games of croquet and kubb in St Pancras Gardens, North London, for free!** No experience or equipment required, just good vibes. We play golf croquet in pairs, with the first team that scores 4 hoops being declared the winner. **Another Summer weekend. And to make the most of the warmer weather - we've got your Sunday sorted again with our next Social Walk and Pub trip, exclusively for 20s and 30s.** And for this latest Sunday walk, we’ll be visiting one of the most popular walking spots in the city, **Greenwich Park 🌳** As always, before heading off on the hike, you'll be allocated a group/team for an initial mix of fun and light-hearted games to help break the ice and help you get to know your fellow walkers a little better. After the games and everyone is warmed up for walk, we’ll then set off on our 2-3 hour hike across East London 🥾 From the green bushy pastures of Blackheath, we will wander into Greenwich Park taking in some of the most famous views overlooking London and the Old Royal Observatory along the way. We will then venture past the historic sailing ship, the Cutty Sark, through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel and along the canals of the Isle of Dogs to Canary Wharf.
