Bigger, Better, Bolder Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa
**Welcome to Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa!**
**Spring is in the air, and with it comes the promise of new beginnings, fresh energy, and the joy of connection!** As the season of renewal unfolds, we invite you to step into the rhythm of community, dance, and celebration at Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa.
My objective has always been to create a different kind of social gatheringâone that is open, non-judgmental, and safe. A place where you can meet people just like you, where socializing and dancing come together to help build community and tear down the walls that separate us. Here, we make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy the calmness that comes from knowing we are in a safe and welcoming space.
Many times, I have been asked, âWhy host an event on Monday night?â Many people escape on the weekend and dread Mondays when they return to work. I believe that if you dance and socialize on a Monday, you infuse your week with joy and positive energy, giving your life balance and helping you face your challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
Weâre also thrilled to announce that our trial of advanced Bachata lessons, which began last September, has been a resounding success! Building on this momentum, weâre excited to offer an enhanced schedule for 2026. Our dance evenings will now feature three hours of classes: one hour of beginner to intermediate Bachata, one hour of advanced Bachata, and one hour of beginner to intermediate Salsa. As always, the entrance fee remains $15 for a night of 2 lessons and social dancing. For those interested in the advanced Bachata lessons, there will be an additional $5 fee.
Hereâs our updated schedule:
**Miss Bachata â Main Ballroom**
ð 7:00 pm â 8:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Bachata Lesson (No partner required)
ð 8:00 pm â 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Miss Salsa â Round Room**
ð 7:00 pm â 8:00 pm: Advanced Bachata Lesson (+$5) **NEW**
ð 8:00 pm â 9:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Salsa Lesson
ð 9:00 pm â 12:00 am: Social Dancing
âš **Additional Details:**
âïž Free Parking
âïž Full Bar (Free Water, Beer: $5.75)
Over the past decade, organizing Latin dancing events in Mississauga has been a labor of love. Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community, proving that the connections we share are far stronger than the differences that divide us.
Loneliness is a growing concern, with over half of U.S. adults and many Canadians experiencing its effects. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened this issue. Harvard University's long-term study on happiness, which began in 1938, highlights the detrimental impact of loneliness on health. People with strong social connections experience slower mental and physical decline and greater overall happiness compared to those who are isolated.
Here are some key findings from the study:
ð¿ Close ties help delay mental and physical decline more than money, fame, social class, IQ, or genetics.
ð¿ Relationship satisfaction is a better predictor of aging well than cholesterol levels in middle age.
ð¿ A strong sense of community improves memory function.
ð¿ Loneliness can be as harmful to health as smoking or alcoholism.
And thereâs hope! Strengthening our relationships and supporting community initiatives can combat loneliness and build healthier, happier lives. Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, expand your social circle, and enjoy a safe, welcoming, authentic environment. Bring your open heart and a smile, and weâll take care of the rest.
ðž **Cheers to a season of renewal, joy, and community!** ðž

TIAMAT in Toronto (Tier 2)
**Note: You must have completed TIAMAT Tier 1 in 2025 or later to participate in Tier 2.**
The TIAMAT program is informed by a 4E cognitive science framework, where cognition is taken to be more than just what happens inside the skull. Rather, cognition happens *between* the mind and the body, and *between* us and our world. There is a *co-dependent* relationship between our mind and our body, and between ourselves and our world. What our workshops do is ask you to **engage with the world in a *different way***. Because they are mutually dependent, a different manner of engagement reveals new aspects of both yourself and the world.
Weâve designed TIAMAT for transfer. In other words, weâve designed it so that the altered relationship between yourself and the world within the practices, carries on and grows beyond the practices.
### What is Tier 2?
**Tier 2** â Sitting between Tier 1âs structures and Tier 3âs state-work, focuses on **shadow work** (i.e. those behaviors we disown) in a participatory, relational container. The **stance is curious and collaborative**: we work *with* what arises, instead of providing an ideal standard for you to meet. Expect intensity paired with clear agreements, escalation-through-repetition, all with the support of like-minded folks and relational support. Collective sense-making is built into Tier 2, ensuring that youâre neither alone in distress nor stuck in your own rumination cycles.

Italian Conversation Hour
Ciao a tutt\*!
Let's meet Monday at 6.30pm at the Upper Arlington Library (Tremont Branch) in **Meeting Room A** to speak in Italian for 1 hour.
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations.
If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!).
**HOW IT WORKS**
**Step 1: Bring a topic**
Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event.
**Step 2: Circle up & share**
We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds.
**Step 3: Walk, talk & float**
We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"
**Step 4: Feel more alive**
Two hours flies by. You're back where you started â but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times.
*For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)*
**HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC**
A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.
Recent topics include:
* "What are you passionate about right now?"
* "What makes a good friend?"
* "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?"
* "How do you want to be remembered?"
* "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?"
Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here.
**FAQ**
* Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk!
* We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space.
* We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space.
* Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know.
* Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome â please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic!
**LOGISTICS**
* If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event.
* This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs.
* Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details.
* If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. ð€ ð
**IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...**
[The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up.
* This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).

Main Library, Meeting Room 2B
What does it mean to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world?
In this gathering, we'll continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount from a mystical perspective. Together weâll explore Matthew 5:13â16, looking not only to the passage as moral instruction, but also to the deeper transformation of consciousness that Jesus invites. Together we'll reflect on how spiritual awakening changes the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Libera Animae is an interfaith community focused on inner growth, creativity, and authentic connection.
