Weekend Backcountry Getaway
**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/weekend-backcountry-getaway)**
**A beginner-friendly, paddle-in camping adventure through the Algonquin Highlands.**
St. Nora Lake sits in the heart of Algonquin Highlands, tucked away from the car-accessible campgrounds and the crowds that come with them. It is just as beautiful as its more famous neighbours in the park, and a lot easier to get into.
The adventure starts with a canoe lesson on the water before we paddle a short 2.5km to a spacious group campsite on the lake. Along the way you will pass classic Canadian Shield scenery: sandy beaches, granite rock faces, and pine-fringed shores. No portages, no prior experience required.
Once you are set up, the rest of the weekend is yours to shape. Swim off the rocks, read in a hammock, or pick up real campsite skills like hanging your food away from bears and building a proper fire. That night, the campfire and a clear sky full of stars will give you some amazing views.
On day two, we take the canoes back out to explore the lake more fully, poking around the shoreline and finding the corners of it that most people never see.
This is a two-day getaway built for people who want real backcountry experience without a gruelling multi-day commitment. We handle the gear, the food, and the logistics. You show up, load the canoe, and go. Group sizes are kept small on purpose so the site stays quiet and the experience stays personal.
By the time you paddle back out on Sunday, you will have put some genuine distance between yourself and the city. That tends to matter more than people expect.
What's included
* Professional & certified guides
* โAll camp meals, cooking equipment and mess kits
* โTents
* Canoe rentals
Sleeping bags and sleep pads can be rented from WU for a small fee.
Whether youโre a seasoned camper or itโs your first time in a tent, this adventure has something for everyone.
**Highlights**
**Canoe-in seclusion:** Your campsite is only accessible by water. No road noise, no neighbouring RVs, just a lake, a fire ring, and genuine quiet.
**The paddle in:** A short, flatwater crossing past a small island, through some of the most beautiful Canadian Shield scenery in the province
**Learn to camp:** Our guides cover the essentials: hanging your food away from bears, building a fire, and setting up a site that works.
**Event cost: $349+HST - optional transport available.**
**Register [here.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/weekend-backcountry-getaway)**
**About Wilderness Union**
Wilderness Union is deliberate about building an outdoors community that connects you to the life-changing magic of the outdoors and helps you find your people.
Members range from 20-40 years old. The group is a mix of GTA locals and newcomers to Toronto from within Canada and abroad.
Attendance numbers on Meetup don't reflect our actual event attendance - we typically have 15-20 community members at each event. Large enough that there's someone new to meet but small enough that it's not overwhelming!

Life Force & Light Language with Blue Lotus Tea Ceremony
This class is a guided life force energy transmission designed to help you deepen awareness, regulate the nervous system, release stored emotions, and connect more deeply with themselves. The practice combines life force activation, light language, somatic release, music therapy, and meditation in a safe, supportive environment.
Blue Lotus Tea
Blue Lotus tea will be served as an optional ritual element. It is non-psychedelic and only mildly psychoactive, helping participants relax the body, quiet the mind, and become more receptive to the experience. It supports the practice but does not create the activation itself.
During the Session
Participants lie down while receiving a guided energy transmission. Experiences vary and may include:
* Gentle spontaneous body movement
* Emotional release (laughing, crying, etc.)
* Feelings of warmth, tingling, or energy movement
* Deep relaxation or bliss
* Visual imagery or meditative experiences
* Vocal expression such as humming, singing, or spontaneous sounds (often described as light language)
Intended Benefits
Many participants report:
* Greater emotional release and nervous system regulation
* Increased self-awareness and clarity
* Enhanced intuition and confidence
* Breaking old patterns and limiting beliefs
* Improved relationships and life direction
* Greater creativity, resilience, and sense of purpose
The emphasis is on personal growth, conscious awareness, and integration, rather than seeking dramatic experiences during the session itself.
What is Light Language?
Light language refers to spontaneous vocal, tonal, or gestural expression that some people experience during deep meditative or energetic states. It is viewed within this practice as an intuitive form of self-expression that may support healing, communication, and creativity.
Preparation
* Avoid alcohol or recreational drugs on the day of the class.
* Eat lightly (fruit or juice) 1โ2 hours beforehand.
* Stay hydrated.
* Meditation or gentle breathwork beforehand is encouraged.
* Integration guidance will be provided after the session.
Who Should Attend
The class is open to adults seeking personal growth and self-exploration. It is not suitable for individuals experiencing psychosis or mania, those under 18, or people in the third trimester of pregnancy.
About the Facilitator
Radia is the founder of Light Body Expansion (LBE) and has facilitated more than 95 classes internationally, supporting over 500+ of students through nervous system regulation, meditation, and energy-based practices.

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations.
If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!).
**HOW IT WORKS**
**Step 1: Bring a topic**
Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event.
**Step 2: Circle up & share**
We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds.
**Step 3: Walk, talk & float**
We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"
**Step 4: Feel more alive**
Two hours flies by. You're back where you started โ but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times.
*For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)*
**HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC**
A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.
Recent topics include:
* "What are you passionate about right now?"
* "What makes a good friend?"
* "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?"
* "How do you want to be remembered?"
* "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?"
Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here.
**FAQ**
* Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk!
* We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space.
* We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space.
* Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know.
* Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome โ please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic!
**LOGISTICS**
* If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event.
* This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs.
* Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details.
* If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. ๐ค ๐
