How does plate tectonic shape the ocean and how can we even discover geological mechanisms? This month at Hong Kong Skeptics in the Pub we are lucky to have Markus Rummel who is a marine biologist with a background in biotechnology (MSc.), and Lucia Hu is a research student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, whose research focuses on harnessing the natural filtration power of marine sponges to identify reef fish species. They will give us an overview presentations on concepts of oceanography, illustrated with colorful graphics and videos, Including the physical, chemical and biological mechanisms that shape the environment, life and climate in the ocean as well as the terrestrial ecosystem. Michael Chan is a qualified Urban Krav Maga Instructor under the British Combat Association UK. He brings a wealth of Martial Arts experience to Hong Kong.
