Belonging everywhere and nowhere: Story of a nomad soul
Belonging everywhere and nowhere: Story of a nomad soul
There’s a feeling beyond words — the quiet certainty that you are safe, held, and exactly where you belong. In German, it’s called Geborgenheit. Geborgenheit — a German word with no perfect English translation — describes the deep feeling of being safe, warm, and truly at home in yourself or with others. It’s more than comfort. It’s trust. **It’s belonging.** It’s knowing you can simply be, without fear or pretense. Join us for an evening of open discussions, small group activities, and sharing experiences related to "belonging". ***Programme***: *1st hour* of the meet up conversation will be dedicated to soft introductions, easy flow conversations, settling in...: \- 5\-10 mins \- Greetings and Salutations:\-\) I will make sure to go around to introduce myself and greet you personally\, invite you in and make sure everyone is feeling comfortable \- 10 min guided gratitude breathwork \- 5\-7 min\- mindful body scan to release the day and be in the here and now \- 10\-15 min Nomad story by Asali \- 20\-25: invitation to choose a person/group sitting next to you\, across from you \(you choose each other\) and engage in a conversation about "belonging" **10-15 min break** for any hot or cold drink. ( there will be some tea/coffee provoded, ferl free to being your own beverage / snack if you want. *2nd hour* of our circle conversation dedicated to any insights you would like to share either individually or in your chosen group: 30-40 min dedicated to discussions if anyone would like to share what they have discussed with their chosen partner/group: You could begin by introducing each other- you can talk about 3 things you both learned about one another, and also share what you both took away from the discussion, it can also be a topic that is related to the sense of "belonging". Take turns to share the insights. Last 10 minutes or so, ill guide you through a simple Breathwork session to provide more grounding and the rest of the time we can dedicate to any one on one discussions or perhaps you would like to sit in silence? :-) some blankets will be provided, feel free to bring a polster/yoga mat/pillow(s). This meetup event is designed for individuals seeking a supportive environment to work on their personal development journey. **Come as you are!** and take the first step towards a more fulfilling life.

**English:** Are you ready for a night full of knowledge, fun, and excitement? At **QXQ – the queer pub quiz**, it’s not just about brainpower but also teamwork and a good dose of creativity! You’ll play in teams of up to 4 people. Expect intriguing questions, fun challenges, surprising jokers, and a thrilling final round. The quiz is suitable for both internationals and locals, as we make sure all questions are easy to understand in both English and German. However, mixed teams of internationals and locals have an advantage! **Focus topic on this edition:** Winter sports! Don't worry, not all questions are about this topic, but some may be related to it ;-) **How can you join?** • **Teams:** Sign up on Meetup with up to three friends if you want to form a fixed team. • **Play with others:** If you’re signing up alone, we’ll assign teams on-site. **Participation fee:** We recommend a donation of **€3 per person** to help keep the Meetup group running. **Entry & Check-in:** Registration and team allocation start at 6:00 PM. The quiz kicks off punctually at 7:00 PM – so be there on time!
Vienna Film Forum February Meeting - No Other Choice!
Vienna Film Forum February Meeting - No Other Choice!
Welcome to the Vienna Film Forum, a monthly discussion group dedicated to the love of cinema! Think of us as cinema’s answer to your local book club. Each month, we pick a recent or upcoming movie release and meet up to share our thoughts on it. You watch the film on your own time and then meet up with us to discuss it, so make sure to plan in advance to see the film before you come to the Meetup! We are an international group and are devoted to including expats and discussing films each month in English, though you need not necessarily have seen the film in English. For this month, we will be discussing the new dark comedy thriller, No Other Choice, from South Korean auteur Park Chan-wook. This new film, set in the upper-middle class suburbs of South Korea, follows a man who falls out of work in the middle management of the paper industry and devotes himself to eliminating the competition — by any meansns necessary. The film will release on February 5th in Austria and likely runs a couple weeks. Do some research to make sure you can find a screening and see it in time. We hope you join us for a drink and a lively debate as we unpack the film!
Discussion: Does Explanation Kill Wonder?
Discussion: Does Explanation Kill Wonder?
***Does understanding the world make it richer or does it drain something essential from it?*** In this first session of **Marginal Thoughts**, we’ll explore that question through three short and very different works: * A short story by Italo Calvino: ["The Distance of the Moon"](https://www.ruanyifeng.com/calvino/2007/07/ch_1_the_distance_of_the_moon.html) (\~40 min read) * An animated clip of Richard Feynman's ["Ode To A Flower"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSG9q_YKZLI) (\~1 min) * A poem by Walt Whitman: ["When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer"](https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/45479/when-i-heard-the-learnd-astronomer) (\~1 min) Along the way, we'll see Calvino anticipate the dating trend of *'orbiting'* and take it very literally, Feynman may or may not ruin flowers for us, and Whitman will demonstrate that rage-quitting an astronomy lecture can still produce poetry. **How to prepare** Please read/watch the materials in advance. As you do, try to identify at least one point of curiosity, confusion, or uncertainty - these will be natural starting points for our discussion. **What to expect** This is an in-person, conversational meetup. The goal isn't to debate, lecture, or "confess" - it’s to explore ideas and leave with better questions than we arrived with. **Optional context for the extra curious** Calvino's story opens his collection [Cosmicomics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmicomics). The Feynman clip comes from the BBC interview ["The Pleasure of Finding Things Out"](https://vimeo.com/340695809). And here's an honorable mention to Borges' poem ["The Moon"](https://dprbcn.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/the-moon-jorge-luis-borges/) which narrowly lost out to Whitman's.

Past-era discoveries and open networking night in Bratislava, Slovakia, conveniently starting and ending at Vienna Main Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof). Run+B-fast
Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast! Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45. We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier. Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup. Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz
