Bigger, Better, Bolder Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa
**Welcome to Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa!**
As the winter season wraps our city in its gentle sparkle, our community shines even brighter. This time of year reminds us how meaningful it feels to step into a space filled with warmth, laughter, music, and friendly faces—exactly the kind of energy we create together every Monday. While the world outside cools down, our dance floor becomes a cozy haven of joy, connection, and beautifully shared moments. Every Monday feels like a touch of winter magic… only with a whole lot more rhythm.
My objective has always been to create a different kind of social gathering—one that is open, non-judgmental, non-salacious, and safe. A place where you can meet people just like you, where socializing and dancing come together to help build community and tear down the walls that separate us. Here, we make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy the calmness that comes from knowing we are in a safe and welcoming space.
Many times, I have been asked, “Why host an event on Monday night?” Many people escape on the weekend and dread Mondays when they return to work. I believe that if you dance and socialize on a Monday, you infuse your week with joy and positive energy, giving your life balance and helping you face your challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
We’re also thrilled to announce that our trial of advanced Bachata lessons, which began last September, has been a resounding success! Building on this momentum, we’re excited to offer an enhanced schedule for 2025. Our dance evenings will now feature three hours of classes: one hour of beginner to intermediate Bachata, one hour of advanced Bachata, and one hour of beginner to intermediate Salsa. As always, the entrance fee remains $15 for a night of 2 lessons and social dancing. For those interested in the advanced Bachata lessons, there will be an additional $5 fee.
Here’s our updated schedule:
**Miss Bachata – Main Ballroom**
❄️ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Bachata Lesson (No partner required)
❄️ 8:00 pm – 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Miss Salsa – Round Room**
❄️ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Advanced Bachata Lesson (+$5) NEW
❄️ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Salsa Lesson
❄️ 9:00 pm – 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Additional Details:**
❄️ Free Parking
❄️ Full Bar (Free Water, Beer: $5.75)
Over the past decade, organizing Latin dancing events in Mississauga has been a labor of love. Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community, proving that the connections we share are far stronger than the differences that divide us.
Loneliness is a growing concern, with over half of U.S. adults and many Canadians experiencing its effects. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened this issue. Harvard University's long-term study on happiness, which began in 1938, highlights the detrimental impact of loneliness on health. People with strong social connections experience slower mental and physical decline and greater overall happiness compared to those who are isolated.
Here are some key findings from the study:
• Close ties help delay mental and physical decline more than money, fame, social class, IQ, or genetics.
• Relationship satisfaction is a better predictor of aging well than cholesterol levels in middle age.
• A strong sense of community improves memory function.
• Loneliness can be as harmful to health as smoking or alcoholism.
There’s hope! Strengthening our relationships and supporting community initiatives can build healthier, happier lives. Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, expand your social circle, and enjoy a safe, welcoming, authentic environment. Bring your open heart and a smile, and we’ll take care of the rest.
**Cheers to building an authentic, joyful, and connected community!**

Come join La Dolce Vita Social Group for a fun afternoon of playing a game of Bocce!
Bocce is one of the oldest known ball sports, with roots stretching back over 2,000 years to Ancient Rome.
Eventually, bocce travelled the world with Italian immigrants, landing in parks, backyards, and beaches everywhere. Today it is still played the same way; a little skill, a little luck, and a lot of laughs!
Simple to learn yet rich in tradition, bocce remains a timeless game that brings people together across generations!

Italians arrived in Toronto during the late 19th century, and first settled in the old "Ward," centred at the corner of University Avenue and College Street. Over the next few years 40,000 Italians came to Canada between 1914 to 1918, mostly from southern Italy.
Most Italians had moved west of Bathurst Street and the College Street area had emerged as the city's Italian enclave. By the 1920s, the community we know today as Little Italy emerged as a cultural and historic jewel in Toronto!
Leaving southern Italy the majority immigrated to Toronto—increasing from 4,900 in 1911, to 9,000 in 1921, or two percent of Toronto's population at the time.
But it was the massive influx of Italians after the second world war that changed Toronto forever. They brought a cultural revolution to the way Torontonians thought, interacted socially, and ate and of course drank coffee. The sidewalk cafe and patio is one of those things that evolved when the Italians came to town. And coffee is the best part of waking up, no that's Maxwell House I believe, oh well, need I say more! Hope to see you all on this walking adventure!
This walking tour is for all walking levels and fitness skills. Please dress for the season and bring water. And remember to bring your love of history as well.
The walking tour begins outside the **Lillian H. Smith** Library on College Street West just east of Spadina. The tour ends at Shaw Street and College Street West.
This tour has a ticket price of $15.00 per person!

Exploring Ethiopian Culture Through Cuisine at Enatye
Food is one of the most meaningful ways to experience culture — and Ethiopian cuisine is rooted in community, tradition, and bold, layered flavors.
Join the Global Food & Culture group as we gather at Enatye Ethiopian Restaurant to explore traditional dishes served on injera. If you’re open to sharing, we can create a few shared platters so everyone can sample a variety of dishes — but individual ordering is perfectly fine too.
Enatye is a small restaurant and does not make reservations so they recommended the 2-4 pm time frame. We’re initially capping this at 12 guests to keep the experience comfortable and conversational. If interest is strong and the restaurant can accommodate, we may open additional spots. The good news is that they will bill each of us separately!
Come hungry. Come curious. And come ready to connect around the table.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Let us speak Italian and grab a drink or two. All levels welcome!
Ci vediamo!
PARKING INFO :
Street Parking might be a challenge and the event involves drinking. We highly recommend a shared ride or taxi service.
Energizing Walk for Busy People!
Join our weekly walking meetup to have fun, maintain a healthy lifestyle, meet new people, and enjoy the weather! We meet Saturdays at 10am, halfway between the Reston *Container Store* and *Not Your Average Joes* (by the metal benches), leaving no later than 10:05.
Every week, rain or shine, we start by walking along the Green Trail to reach Lake Anne Community Center. Once there, we pause for water/bio (often staying a few minutes extra from April-November, due to the local Farmer's Market), and then we circle Lake Anne and head back to our starting point. It's roughly 3-4 miles and takes about an hour and a half.
Afterwards, some members will often head to *Not Your Average Joes* or another local restaurant for a quick drink/meal before tackling the day.
This event is open to all ages and fitness levels. Dogs are welcome, and we recommend dressing for the weather (umbrella, water, snow shoes, hat, etc.) since we'll walk rain or shine. Also, feel free to bring a friend!
By signing up, you accept and assume all risks and responsibilities with this activity, and nobody will be held liable.
