We are heading to East London for an authentic Malaysian brunch followed by a scenic 5+ mile stroll through two of London's best green spaces. A rich Malaysian brunch (think flaky roti canai, fragrant nasi lemak, and comforting laksa). A 5-to-6 mile "I Spy" walk through the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and vibrant Victoria Park. Relax, chill and have a good day out! Weather permitting! And near many Tfl public transport network, if you wish to leave anytime.

Come along to Sprechstunde in our ventilated offices to practice your German over some tea and coffee. Meet fellow German learners and grow your confidence. Please RSVP, we try to accommodate walk ins but numbers are limited to 10 participants. Light refreshments are available, please advice if you have any dietary requirements.

**This is an opportunity for you to meet native English speakers and get lots of conversation practise and see some London sights** We will be walking section 14 out of 15 of the Capital Ring walk. Starting from Hackney Wick station, we will walk along the Greenway, past Abbey Mills pumping station and Greenway Community orchard and finish in Beckton District Park. We will be walking for approximately two hours with a break in between. The pathways are mainly on level tarmac paths with a few moderate slopes but it is mainly flat, and there shouldn't be any issues with mud even if it has been raining. Keep an eye on the event chat which I'll update a day or two before to confirm we are going ahead. We will **meet just outside Hackney Wick overground station at 10:45** at the White Post Lane exit (North side). Unless there is a transport issue affecting everyone, we will aim to start off on the walk at 11am. I will add my location tracking on Glympse so if you are late, we will not wait but you will be able to catch us up. After the walk at Beckton I am planning on heading to a local pub for a drink and a bite to eat. If you are up for coming along please indicate in the comments. I'm estimating we would reach the end of the walk at Beckton for around 13:00. The nearest station to the endpoint is Royal Albert, however I understand this station is closed on the Sunday of the walk and **the nearest next open DLR station is Prince Regent**, around 15 minutes walk.

So I thought, why not turn it into a social?** **This is a no-pressure first meetup to find cool people who want to explore London after work and plan cheap trips out of it. Have you ever wanted to be immersed within either the city or nature in the form of a walk and socialise at the same time? If so, this may be the right walk for you. Welcome to another one of the WALK events where you have the opportunity to explore all the scenic routes I’ll execute whether there’s nature within, whether we get immersed within the city and feel great about yourself. 

With this particular walk, we will be walking from Marble Arch to Shepherd’s Bush. This walk in particular is more of a transition from central London to the western parts of London. One moment, we’re surrounded by landmarks and gorgeous parks and the next, we enter a different dynamic of west London that we haven’t seen before. To be precise, it’s quite the immersive walk as we get to discover what cultures and places are down there. After this walk, we will be heading inside Westfield Shepherd’s Bush for some ice cream at Badiani’s or any other alternative if you wish. Badiani’s is an Italian business specialised in gelato and any other delicacies. They began since 1932 and arrived in the Uk since 2016. If you were to look at their treats, you could say it feels like ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
