NEW HIKE: Hidden jewel of the Jurassic Coast
NEW HIKE: Hidden jewel of the Jurassic Coast
Let's start the Spring with your brand new favourite springy hike! Yeeeeeesssssss! And it is gorse season so be ready for a yellow blanket covering the cliff top giving your photos the peps that it deserves! Wanna go to an absolutely stunning place and enjoy some less known and less busy views of the Jurassic Coast with as much beauty as the Durdle Door or the Coast of Ireland? Yes you do! And this is your trip! Wanna walk pass a place called 'Dolphin point'? Because, you can often see dolphins swimming in the sea as well as the last remaining nesting puffins, razorbills and guillemots(the last remaining penguin species in Europe) on the South Coast of England? Wanna go through a magical forest, an old quary and a splendid lighthouse for your new favourite photo? Well come with Mama Jon then! The Jurassic Coast is the Jewel on the crown when it comes to English Coastal beauty and the area which is 95 miles long (150 km) being difficult to access, most people and hikers just go and visit the Old Harry's, Durdle door and Lulworth Cove, about only 10 miles of this very long coastline missing the other 90% WHAT?! Yes I know, this is a big mistake! There is SO much more to enjoy and the landscapes you will see on this trip will blow your mind! SO, here are a few details for you to get an idea of the trip. We will take a train for a couple of hours, (about 2h20) and then a short bus journey(30 minutes) to Swanage cutting our journey time from 5 to 3 hours. From the sightseeing bus, you will be able to admire national beauties along the way. You need to deserve the Jurassic Coast after all, it isn't so easy to just get there! Once in Swanage, we will start our hike and climb to see the wonders of Dorset, the hike is medium with a few climbs but it is really worth it. Most of hike will be on the Southwest Coastal Path and around pretty places such as Anvill Point Lighthouse, Dulston Castle and The Globe with incredible view of a sea that doesn't really make you think UK kind of sea but has more of a Mediterranean kind of vibe. We will have a break on the cliff top and will then walk through another path back to Swanage where you can get a take away for the train or have a drink there or Wareham if we have time. Guys, the Jurassic Coast is on the other side of the world so it will be a full day out, we should be back at Waterloo by 21:30... and our train tickets are booked for a certain time to save a bit of ££, but British rail...you know... so do not plan an early one in the evening as I will not cut the trip short, I will have a UNO though so be ready for war! INFORMATION: ATTENTION As Always, trains in Britain, once you leave the South Eastern coast are extremely expensive. Usually about £45 return with the group discount, I will collect that money on the day before the hike via bank transfer to buy the train tickets. There will also be an additional charge on the day of 4£50 tap in with your bank card to pay for a return bus ticket too. DISTANCE: 9 miles/16km and it takes about 5 hours DIFFICULTY: Medium, a few steepish climbs PRICE: £17 via Paypal The train ticket should be around £45 ish return to send on my BA on the day before the hike. About 4£50 tap in for a short bus journey on a sightseeing bus INCLUDED in the fee: Guide fee My costs (My train and buses) My Paypal fees and my costs A lovely time with the loveliest people, also called Jonions NOT INCLUDED: Bus fare Train Food Anything not mentioned above WHAT TO BRING: A packed lunch A bank card that you can use to tap in Weather appropriate clothing(Think winter, you will might get wet) Preferably hiking shoes, unless you wish your shoes to die. They will! MEETING POINT: London Waterloo next to the cash machines located next to the clock in the main station hall and the Whsmith at 7:40 am I will send the location when I am there. ATTENTION: Our trips will not be cancelled due to weather conditions so please ensure that you do wear and carry appropriate clothing. 😄 As you can see, my humour is terrible, good luck with that but know that I take care of my Jonions and read the bit about discrimination please, if you are racist, homophobic, cannot accept that people have other opinions or mental health issues, this might not be a trip for you. If you aren't any of the above, we will love you so, come on, press the button. POLICIES: 1: This group is designed for the pleasure and enjoyment of all of us, we do not accept any derogatory comments or behaviours towards anyone. Racism, discrimination and other unacceptable behaviours will only lead to your rejection to any of our trips and this without exception. Systemic & Family Constellations IN-PERSON Full-Day Workshop with Illi Adato
Systemic & Family Constellations IN-PERSON Full-Day Workshop with Illi Adato
**You are invited to join a deep healing group process that extends beyond us as individuals into the wider 'field' of historical/ancestral influences, where our family's past traumas are seen, acknowledged, and attended to, so that they do not limit our well-being today.** In these **short videos, our facilitator Illi Adato** explains the key aspects of the Systemic and Family Constellation approach to therapy and healing: [https://www.facebook.com/LondonFamilyConstellations/videos](https://www.facebook.com/LondonFamilyConstellations/videos) We shall meet at The Kailash Centre in St. Johns Wood, London NW8 for this month's group session, **open to all**. Issue Holder and Representative spaces are available: **For Representative (Participant) Booking £45:** **[https://calendly.com/illiadato/in-person-constellations-representative](https://calendly.com/illiadato/in-person-constellations-representative)**[ ](https://calendly.com/illiadato/in-person-constellations-representative) **For Issue Holder (Client) Booking £175:** If you wish to attend as an Issue Holder at this workshop and have your own Constellation done please email your request to: [ih@londonconstellations.uk](ih@londonconstellations.uk) **Please Note:** There are limited issue holder spaces available, please book early to avoid disappointment and wait for a confirmation email of your booking. This workshop provides a perfect opportunity to experience the deep and insightful Systemic Constellations process. A unique and powerful therapeutic method for self-exploration, understanding core behaviors, removing blocks, and reintroducing movement and growth. It is used as a major resource in working through trauma and it can assist in depression treatment. To read comments from participants in previous workshops click this link [https://bit.ly/33Asprs](https://bit.ly/33Asprs) **WHAT ARE SYSTEMIC CONSTELLATIONS?** The Systemic Constellations method is a unique therapeutic process of exploration of the forces that move us in life. Such forces often appear as difficulties or a sense of being 'stuck' in life, affecting our behavior, relationships, career, health/wellbeing, or even financial circumstances. This method provides a three-dimensional ‘map’ of one’s life as it is at present. It is a simple yet powerful way to explore entanglements and blockages in our personal life and in our family history. The method brings awareness and clarity into personal challenges by focusing the client on the root cause of such difficulties. Constellations provide an opening for a positive life shift and present ways for deep healing processes to occur. **WHAT HAPPENS IN A CONSTELLATION SESSION?** In Constellations work the ‘client’ is referred to as the ‘Issue Holder’. The method uses workshop participants as ‘Representatives’ to stand in for key people in the client’s life such as family members, colleagues, partners, ex-partners etc., sometimes ‘abstract’ concepts such as an emotion, country of origin, religion, or destiny are also represented. All participants are invited to take part as Representatives. Workshop participants often report (see reviews: [https://bit.ly/33Asprs](https://bit.ly/33Asprs)) experiencing profound insights into their own lives by simply witnessing the process, regardless of how they choose to take part. **WHY DOES THIS WORK?** Scientific research shows that the experiences of your ancestors can determine your behavior today and affect future generations.\*\* Recent scientific research into DNA reveals that a component named epigenetics is embedding the effect of a traumatic experience by altering the genetic structure. It means that some of our behavior patterns can be attributed to traumatic events in your family history. This notion has always been one of the guiding principles of Systemic / Constellations Therapy, a form of work that is dedicated to exposing and dealing with issues emerging from our family system. Our group provides a **safe space** where deep personal work is done and where maintaining confidentiality and respect for each other's privacy is paramount. **\*\* DNA research paper and news article links:** Discover - Grandma's Experiences Leave a Mark on Your Genes [https://bit.ly/3dLwEkK](https://bit.ly/3dLwEkK) BBC News - "Memories" pass between generations [http://bbc.in/1dNShPe](http://bbc.in/1dNShPe) **Facilitated by Illi Adato** MA Lon\. London's Lost Rivers - Walk the River Walbrook!
London's Lost Rivers - Walk the River Walbrook!
Come along on Sunday 31st May for a guided walk/hike, walking the route of one of London's lost rivers - the River Walbrook! **About the walk** We will walk the entire length of the river (about 2 miles), from its source to where it enters the River Thames. The Walbrook is unfortunately completely covered and is now part of sewer system since the 1860's. The walk is part hike/part guided, so starting at its source in Shoreditch, we will follow its route and on the way I will show you points of interest which would have been on the banks of the River Walbrook and tell you more about them. **The River Walbrook** The meaning comes from *'weala broc'* meaning '*brook of the foreigners'* which is what the invading Romans took to mean the native Britons. Despite being one of the shortest rivers to flow through London, the River Walbrook is counted as a major waterway, as it carved a route right through Roman Londinium. The exact location of the source of the river is of great dispute, although evidence suggests it is somewhere on Holywell Hill in Shoreditch. It was an important part of the Roman city providing fresh water to the Roman citizens. We will walk about 2 miles, so sensible shoes are advised. The terrain is pavements. The walk finishes near Cannon Street Station. **Payment** Full Members of the group will be free, everyone else the cost is £7 per person (payable by cash or credit card on the day). **Become a Full Member** To become a Full Member (£14 a year), either: \- Pay cash at an event \- Pay via Bank Transfer \(TSB Bank plc\, Sort code: 77\-66\-65\, Account no: 00030809\, Account name: Cultureseekers) \- Pay via credit card on the day or in advance \([https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QLAX8AUI](https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QLAX8AUI)) \- Pay via PayPal\, send a payment to [general@cultureseekers.org](mailto:general@cultureseekers.org), using the ‘Friends & Family’ option Benefits of becoming a Full Member [here...](https://www.meetup.com/london_cultureseekers/photos/22974682/531979527/) **Afterwards** After, we will head to the 'Sir John Hawkshaw pub' (a Wetherspoons pub) on the concourse of Cannon Street Station for a chat over a drink. 🧙 Hiking Glastonbury: Land of Myths, Magic & Holy Grail Legend
🧙 Hiking Glastonbury: Land of Myths, Magic & Holy Grail Legend
################# **Explore Britain’s most stunning trails in a small group of up to 15, travelling together by private minibus to beautiful, remote locations not easily reached by public transport.** **We’ve created a list of [FAQs](https://drive.google.com/file/d/12gIZWTLfA3zQsx1fb0lpv1zOWP2vC5tq/view?usp=drive_link) to help answer your questions.** ################# Come and join us on a trip to **Glastonbury**, possibly the quirkiest town in England, and home to the famous **Glastonbury Music Festival**! This city is at fascinating crossroads of various religions and spiritualities, from Christianity and paganism, to Druidism and witchcraft, and is unusually rich in legends and mythology. **Glastonbury Tor**, which we're going to climb, took centre stage in the opening ceremony of the **London 2012 Olympic Games**, celebrating the “idyllic, mythical England”. Our **4-mile route** will follow the **Glastonbury Way** around the town and its beautiful landscape, taking in the most significant places. We’ll also visit the beautiful **White Spring** **temple** at the base of Glastonbury Tor (free entry). Candle-lit and atmospheric, it is a unique and sacred space long cherished by pilgrims and local people, and commonly used for quiet reflection, ceremonies and meditation. Opposite the White Spring are the peaceful, sunlit gardens of **Chalice Well** and the **Red Spring**, which you’re also welcome to visit for a small entry fee. After the hike, you’ll have free time to explore **Glastonbury’s weird and wonderful shops**. This is the perfect place to browse for crystals (and learn about their healing properties), tarot cards, jewellery, lotions and potions, incense, herbs – and even wizard hats and magic wands! 🌟🔮🃏The town is also home to more than **50 spectacular pieces of street art**, with colourful murals decorating the city centre and adding to Glastonbury’s vibrant, creative atmosphere. **This trip is suitable for BEGINNERS** – a great way to experience hiking before joining our more difficult trips! 🤩 **LEGENDS OF GLASTONBURY** There are many legends surrounding Glastonbury. Below are the most famous ones. *Jesus and Joseph of Arimathea* Jesus is said to have come to Glastonbury as a boy, travelling here with his uncle, Joseph of Arimathea. Joseph was a tin merchant and had travelled to England's south west for this valuable metal. After the crucifixion of Jesus, Joseph travelled to Britain with the Holy Grail (the cup used by Jesus at the Last Supper), which he buried under Glastonbury Tor. *The Holy Thorn* Joseph is said to have arrived in Glastonbury by boat over the flooded Somerset Levels. On arriving, he climbed up Wearyall Hill (a 15-minute walk from Glastonbury centre). Exhausted, he thrust his staff into the ground and rested. By morning his staff had taken root and grown into a miraculous thorn tree, known as the Holy Thorn. A flowering sprig of the Holy Thorn is cut every year and presented to the monarch, where it resides on his Christmas Day breakfast table. *The Isle of Avalon and King Arthur* For many people, Glastonbury represents the Isle of Avalon, the mythical island of Celtic tradition, believed to be a gateway to the underworld. Glastonbury is said to be the final resting place of the legendary King Arthur. **DISTANCE & DIFFICULTY** Distance: 4 miles (7km). Ascent: 220m. Difficulty: [Easy](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BMjvqhAAdSeCdyzLPHs0z04_e2TiKdci/view). **ITINERARY** **07:45** Meet outside Hotel Novotel London West, 1 Shortlands, W6 8DR (a five-minute walk from Hammersmith Station) **08:00** Sharp departure **11:15-14:00** Hike to Glastonbury Tor, 2000-year-old oak trees of Gog and Magog and the White Spring **14:00-16:00** Free time for lunch and to explore Glastonbury's quirky shops **16:00** Departure **19:00** London, Hammersmith **TRANSPORT** As on most of our trips, we'll travel in a comfortable 16-seater minibus. **BOOKING** To keep ticket prices down and avoid PayPal/Meetup fees (£7 extra per ticket), we kindly ask for payment by bank transfer. Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games! The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime! Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!
