Ditchling Beacon, Hollingbury & Brighton Seaside Swim – Country Hike
Walk length 13miles/20 km approx. Linear.
A very picturesque route from Burgess Hill via Ditchling Beacon to Brighton.
Ditchling Beacon commands a place as the third highest point on the South Downs at 814ft (American designations define a mountain as 1000ft!, getting close) with panoramic views, because of its defensive position it was also the site of an early Iron Age Hill fort.
The hike has a nice mixture of fields, ridge sections, hillforts as well as some urban sections into Brighton.
We pass Brighton station on the way to the seaside and at Brighton you have the option of seeing the seaside, shopping or having a social drink and maybe having a swim!
THIS IS A SUBSTANTIAL BUT MEDIUM LENGTH HIKE HIKE WITH A NUMBER OF GRADIENTS.
Lunch & Finish
Please bring a packed lunch & water for the hike. We should finish before 5pm which will include a 30 min snack lunch stop (rustic lunch stop in fields, no facilities) however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace (this is a complete day out and your are advised not to plan definite events for the evening).
Various meeting points see below..
The hike is linear and start from Burgess Hill Station at 11am.
Meeting at London: Meet from 9.30am at London Bridge Train station to get the 10.05am train arriving at Burgess Hill at 10.58am (get off at Burgess Hill but we return from Brighton so get a return ticket to Brighton.
At London getting group saves at 9.30am (may have to queue, please be prompt so we can get tickets and board the train when announced they can get busy).
The meeting point is London Bridge Train Station. Meet next to the main ticket office opposite the WHSmith. See photo below.
Cost: Train £18.20 (Super Off-Peak Return) or less with a group save, network railcard or ordered online.
If driving to Burgess Hill be aware this is a linear hike and you will need to collect your car after the hike to Brighton, short single train journey.
Walk Cost: £7 cash on the day organizer fee (the host is a qualified London guide). For paypal it is 'colin45@hotmail.co.uk' Please send as friends and family to avoid charges. For bank transfer message organizer.
Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You should wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking shoes, warm and wet weather clothing and carry sufficient food and water. Please see our Terms and Conditions (http://www.meetup.com/London-Explorers/pages/Terms_and_Conditions/)

Free Meditation & Yoga - Join us on - Saturdays 11:00am in Enfield
Meetings run weekly on Saturdays from 11.00-12.30 in Enfield Town Library,
Community Room, 66 Church Street, Enfield, EN2 6AX
Join us for wonderful **free** weekly meditation sessions in Enfield Town Library, classes are always free.
Sahaja Yoga is a unique form of meditation that will enable you to connect with your Inner Self, establishing a higher awareness within you resulting in a deep feeling of peace, calmness, balance, and joy.
It is a tangible practical **experience**: Sahaja Yoga is “Subtle, Simple and Real”.
It was founded by H.H. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi ( 1923-2011) and has at its core the process of Self Realisation: connecting with your real Self through the awakening of the dormant energy in our sacrum bone called Kundalini who takes us into the deep peaceful state of thoughtless awareness.
In the class, we will go through the process of Self Realisation and learn how to achieve the state of meditation effortlessly. Also, we will learn about balancing our subtle system, diagnosing and solving our problems, and meditating at home.
Sahaja Yoga helps all aspects of our life: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, it is an extraordinary method, unique from any other types of meditations as it uses our own energy Kundalini who can correct our chakras, balance us, and take us to a much higher and deeper state of awareness.
We do not need mats, we sit on chairs, it is easy and simple, Sahaja means spontaneous in Sanskrit, and it is for all cultures, ages, religions, and backgrounds.
There are free meetings all over London, the UK, and more than 100 countries.
If you are looking for well-being, harmony, and solving your problems, if you want to get out of confusion, and/or mental health problems, if you are looking for answers then you are in the right place.
Come along and try, no need to sign up, beginners are welcome anytime.

This is Outdooraholics’ most popular hike, a dramatic and exhilarating journey across the chalk cliffs of Sussex that we have been leading for over 12 years. The **Seven Sisters** are a spectacular series of gleaming white chalk cliffs formed at the end of the last Ice Age by glacial meltwater. Erosion has since created an “eighth sister,” and today the cliffs stand as one of England’s most iconic landscapes.
We begin in the coastal town of **Seaford**, home to a Napoleonic-era **Martello Tower** built in 1810 as part of a chain of 103 coastal defences against French invasion. From here, the trail climbs onto the cliff tops, where for much of the day we walk high above the sea, treated to endless coastal views and fresh sea air.
Our route follows the **South Downs Way**, passing through **Birling Gap** and past the striking **Belle Tout Lighthouse**, famously moved 17 metres inland in 1999 to save it from falling into the sea. The final highlight is **Beachy Head**, a dramatic beauty spot with sheer chalk cliffs dropping into the sea below.
We finish in **Eastbourne**, statistically England’s sunniest town, where we celebrate our coastal adventure with refreshments in a local pub.

**Cliffs – danger**
There are sheer drops off the cliffs and some of these soft chalk cliffs are crumbling at the edges with chunks regularly falling and no fencing in place. Please keep at least 3 metres away from the edges. If you fall, or the ground at the edge of the cliff collapses it will almost certainly be fatal.

Ivinghoe Beacon Trail - Saturday 2 May
Join us as we head to the Chilterns where we will explore fields and forests on our way to the high point of Ivinghoe Beacon. With views stretching as far as the English Midlands, the beacon lit here provided, over the centuries, speedy communication across the country in times of crisis. The beauty of the area is such that in the 1960s it was frequently used as an outdoor location for action-adventure television shows including 'The Avengers' and 'The Saint'.
Our hike will take us along the Ridgeway, a trail located at the top of the steep scarp slope of the Chilterns that has been in use since the stone age. Along the way we shall find Grim's Ditch, an ancient fortification dating back to before the arrival of Romans.
On our return we shall pass by the Bridgewater Monument, built in honour of a duke whose Lancashire canal was the earliest of its kind and made him the richest noble in the country.
We will also walk through the woods of the Ashridge Estate, famed for having some of the largest displays of bluebells anywhere in the south of England.

Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games!
The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime!
Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!
