Queer Spirit Full Moon Imbolc Circle
Queer Spirit Full Moon Imbolc Circle
Radical Faeries and Queer Spirits gather in south London at the solar festival of Imbolc, the day before the Imbolc Full Moon in Leo. Sun and Moon energies synchronising here make this a powerful turning point as we approach the end of the year of the wood snake (getting ready for the fire horse) and the end of Neptune and Saturn's time in Pisces, these two planets also lifting our consciousness into the fire territory after the challenging water journey that's been peaking these past months as the spirit prepares us for incoming new vibrational fields. Imbolc is the halfway point between winter solstice and spring equinox, from this point the promise of magic is in the air, days are longer and the Aquarian spirit flows forth strongly. Imbolc is the festival of Brigit, the maiden goddess and is associated with divination, poetry and fire. A time to dress up and pray! Leo Full Moon is where we get to uniqueness we each bring to the Aquarian collective consciousness. So also a good time to dress up and play! Take a break from hibernation, come pray, play and warm yourself in queer love ritual - your host Shokti is also celebrating his birthday on this night! (I had a low key 60th so let's make some noise on my 61st!) Drumming, dancing, social. Dress to express your Faerie spirit! We gather from 7 to set up the space and cast circle around 8pm, then drum, dance and socialise through the evening There are lots of drums and percussion to use. you can also bring your own. also welcome to bring snacks to share and your own liquid refreshments donation requested to cover venue hire. £5/£10 as you can afford, cash on door or PayPal to [PayPal.Me](https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/shokti) NOTAFLOF - No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds. YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENTS OF THESE CIRCLES AND OTHER RELATED EVENTS AT [QUEERSPIRIT.NET ](https://queerspirit.net/)
Woodland Imbolc Ritual London)
Woodland Imbolc Ritual London)
"Arise, arise, arise! Arise from your place of snow and ice..!" we chant, , as we invoke the Virgin Goddess Bride. Thanks** * **You can offer cash fee at start of ritual, or book in advance via our Eventbrite page. link in comment section!** In Pagan & Magical traditions, Imbolc is the time when the Crone/ Winter Goddess loosens her grip on the land, so that the ice melts and waters flow again. It is when the Goddess Bride (Brigid) \`returns’ to us, having spent time in deep caverns of the Earth, resting & regenerating (supposedly after giving birth to the SunChild)! Her path is lit by candles, symbolising the return of light and warmth which is imminent. Bride is a Goddess of poetry, inspiration, healing, knot-magic and weaving. As she returns to us, Brigid brings the gifts of 3 flames - purification, Creativity and Healing! In this Ceremony, we create a sacred altar with statues, candles, inecnse, magical charms, arts.crafts & decorations, adding wooden logs & foliage we find in the woods, and plenty of LED lights! We light a path to the altra area with small candles and string lights. We \`Call on the Goddess' with a group invocation (read, line by line and repeated), , and a choosen young lady, wearing a crown of lights, walks along to altar, and taking on the symbolic role of Brigid. She may then read some poetic words we have prepared and printed out. .. as a symbolic Blessing given by the \`Goddess Brigid' to the gathered people. This ritual event starts in the evening.. So bring torch lights for later. Or better still, bring a lantern for the circle and altar and to walk in the woods. **Magic:** We will be briefly using flaming torches (yes real ones, carefully) for all attendees to pass between flames as a magical act of purification. Perfume Walk in Mayfair - SOLD OUT
Perfume Walk in Mayfair - SOLD OUT
A time trip through history of English perfume houses and their famous clients, from heritage colognes to modern niche perfumery.\*\* If you’re a perfume lover, then we know you’re going to love a historical Perfume Walk through London’s vibrant, heritage-rich Mayfair… Perfume Walks are going to be sauntering through the world of scent, taking in the sights and smells of London’s historic and modern fragrance houses. The perfume walk is an invite to have a glimpse of London history through perfumes, their creators and people who wore them. The tour takes about three hours during which we will visit heritage perfume shops and find out the exciting history of old brands like **Floris**, **Atkinson’s, Penhaligon’s, Grossmith**, and **Santa Maria Novella**, as well as the new players like **Ormonde Jayne** and **Roja Dove** who are creating history of English perfumery in front of our eyes. Floris offers an opportunity for a real time travel. The shop has been occupying the same premises for 293 years and is still run by the same family. Among his clients there are royals, famous people, actors and even literary characters. The visit to Floris also gives a chance to discuss what a unisex fragrance mean. Our partners prepared treats and gifts for all our guests. EVERY GUEST RECEIVES A GOODY BAG. Please check the weather forecast for London and dress accordingly on the day of the walk. **Tickets are refundable up to 7 days before the event**

**Update: full for drums, bass, piano, lead instruments, 1 of 2 spots taken for guitar** full list of scheduled sessions: https://www.meetup.com/Practice-Jazz-Jam-Sessions/events/ **What is it** The novice rehearsal sessions provide an opportunity for people who are relatively new to jazz, to play in a friendly, low-pressure environment. With a short set list that attendees can prepare in advance, it becomes a little less daunting to play and get the most out of practising in a group. See below for this week's setlist. Please sign up before attending. Already full for your instrument? Please check back every other Wednesday, when new sessions go live. If you keep not being able to get a spot, please message the organiser (Xie). Location: Vortex upstairs **Who's it for** Anyone who has practised following the forms (chord progressions) of jazz tunes - maybe on their own at home - and would like to build up playing experience, expand repertoire and practice performing with other musicians. There are various introductions on how jazz jams work - see e.g. https://jazznightschool.org/pages/jam-session-basics You don't need to get all these details right for these novice practice sessions. The set list format should offer opportunities for those at different levels of developing their playing. While at the beginning one might struggle to follow/comp the chords or play through the melody, it gets easier over time and one can start to develop approaches to improvisation, harmonise lead lines, add intros/endings, work on communication between band members, and even listen to recordings together and pick up specific arrangements. Bass players are expected to be able to play a walking bass line on swing tunes, and simple bossa lines for bossa novas. Playing the melody, or "head" - the responsibility is shared between horns players (e.g. sax, trumpet, violin), guitar and piano. Feel free to discuss among the group before each song - different parts of the head or the starting / ending heads can be played by different players. Some melodies will better suit several voices at the same time, whereas others are sensitive to variations in how they are played and may prefer a single instrument at a time. **What it's like** A relaxed and welcoming atmosphere - please put aside any worries of making mistakes if you’re thinking of joining us for the first time. To ensure the group is accessible for those at different levels, I ask that each novice session should work on only the below four songs of the set list, unless each and every attendee feels they prefer to move on. Each novice session is limited to up to: 1 drummer, 2 bass, 2 keys, 2 guitar, 3/4 lead instruments. Always use the top of the description to see if there is an available slot for your instrument - please do not try to work this out yourself by looking at the other attendees' instruments. **Tunes this week (Sat 31 Jan)** * Take the A train in C (warm up) (Vache, Allen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8JJv13K3WU * Jordu in Cm (Brown, Roach) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GslhRUBgXNI * Hackensack in F (Thelonious Monk) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVDs_Nn-0a8 * Little Boat (O Barquinho) in Bb (Eric Alexander) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiMVlSVMMPw Everyone is encouraged to listen to a variety of recordings for each song, but please ensure you are familiar with the recording provided as a primary reference. **Tune preview - next novice session (Sat 7 Feb)** * Blues in the Closet in F (warm up) (Stanley Turrentine) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9vNUao-Cww](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9vNUao-Cww) * Corcovado in C (note odd number of measures) (Cannonball Adderley) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=open6GCI6ZA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=open6GCI6ZA) * Caravan in Fm (note: the form is AABA, first chord C7) (tricky, rhythm instruments learn accompany parts) (Stringspace) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDTnxMoRWd8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDTnxMoRWd8) * There is no greater love in Bb (Freddie Hubbard) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MelwhSdHhw0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MelwhSdHhw0) **Preparing for the session** The chordal form of each song follow the iReal Pro app as a common reference, or you can use sheet music from Real Books. Resource for sheet music: https://www.seventhstring.com/fbindex.html http://therealbook.info/ Try to immerse yourself in the songs by listening to recordings by different artists on youtube, spotify etc. Learn the head (main melody) of the song if you can. Don't hesitate to let the band know you can play it so you can start things off **Equipment** there is a piano, drum kit (no cymbals or high hat clutch), bass and guitar amps, stands, and microphones. Drummers: please bring cymbals (none available for rental) and hi hat clutch **Vocalists** Singers are welcome, however please note that the songs have fixed keys, and some of the repertoire are likely not in the right key for your range. If you are an experienced singer, it may be possible to arrange sessions with repertoire catered to you - to explore this, please first come to the "Afternoon Open Jams" so I can get a sense of your singing. **Observing** Would you like to attend a session without playing/singing, to get an idea of the format or to get a sense of what to practise first at home? You can sign up as usual to any novice session, and send me a message that you'd like only to watch the session. When you feel ready, the fee paid can be carried over toward any future session where you join to play or sing at the rehearsal. **Cancellation policy** Please try to make it to any session you sign up to, as the jams are organised around a particular mix of instruments. However, if things do come up and you can no longer make a session, please send a message to the organiser, Xie, as soon as possible. Places are non-refundable if your plans change, but if you provide over 1 week notice it may be possible to carry over the fee for a future session. \-\-\-\-\- any questions do get in touch!

Leo Full moon Ritual - Sekhmet Protection magic (Feb'26) -Central London
**A Call to Magic for Global Safety** Come join me in a special ritual, when the moon is still waxing in the sign of Leo, to make a sacred circle and call upon one of the fiercest goddesses in myth and legends. Sekhmet the Lion-headed warrior Goddess. Normally in our Sekhmet rituals at Leo new moons, we invoke and calm her rage and thirst with beer and wine. This time, however, on a waxing leo full moon, we shall invoke her and petition her to vanquish warmongering tyrants. The how and where and when - we leave to the wisdom of the warrior Goddess! **Wars are nothing new -** sadly! But now, a dark force is rising fast in the western world - and some tyrrants have managed to unravel centuries of peace, and driven by whims and egos, they theaten to instigate a new wars! Many people would think this will pass. Others will say its all Fated. More will say there are lessons to be learnt and we must not interfere! Evil wins and when good people do nothing. And while politicians are paralysed and very measured in their reactions, can we Witches and magicians really afford to sit and wait? Come stand in a ritual Circle - and Call this warrior Goddess Goddess to stop these Tyrannt.! **RITUAL what to expect** \-\-\-\- * We start with a brief **pathworking** \- a guided visualisation for stillness and energy opening\. COLUMBUS SPIRITUALITY MEETUP
COLUMBUS SPIRITUALITY MEETUP
We are excited to host Guided Meditations on Sundays at 6 pm in our Ashram/Gallery/Home! !! !! Everyone wants to know what kind of God we worship and what kind of meditation we do. We worship the GOD that LOVES US! We understand that god is an energy and it lives in us as us. Our meditations guide others to actually experience that energy! xoxo We don't just talk about peace, love and affection, we experience it :) Also we are a home not a business, so we enjoy building community one friend at a time. We always build in time for people to mingle & develop friendships! xoxo Much Love, Frank Tennyson Namaste, Frank Tennyson http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/f/9/9/600_447824953.jpeg
