Let's explore Tai Lam Country Park! This trail leads to the spectacular Reservoir Islands Viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, also known as the Thousand Island Lake. The final section is a final steep climb up a dirt trail with numerous stairs to the viewpoint. The islands are actually the hilltops of a former valley that was flooded to create the reservoir, which was the first one built in Hong Kong after World War II. ## **Trail Facts** **-Difficulty Level:** Moderate **-Length:** 8.2 km/5.1 mi **-Duration:** 2-3 hours **-Elevation Gain:** 964 Feet **-Trailhead Coordinates:** 22.37849, 114.01047 **-Dogs:** Allowed! To get to the meeting location via public transport, take MTR West Rail to Tuen Mun Station, then take Exit C or D to Ho Pong Street, where you can find the Green Minibus 43. Ride Green Minibus 43 to the end of the route at So Kwun Wat Tsuen (next to a small Tin Hau temple). Our hike begins on a flat paved road. We will follow signs for the MacLehose Trail Section 10, passing farms until reaching a car park and a barrier to enter the reservoir trail. Along the way, we will pass views of the Thousand Islands Viewpoints and Shenzen! Please plan for crowds as the trail is quite popular on the weekends and for a totla hiking time of 1.5-2 hours at a leisurely pace. Public transport via Green Minibus 43 or taxi will be available at the conclusion of the trail. Hi there everybody! We invite you all to come enjoy Peng Chau island and our next movie night on 22th of February. This time we will watch our first Rwanda and Burundi movie. We have chosen two countries instead of one because the movie itself include this two East African countries. The movie is called 'Neptune Frost' (2021) from directors Anisia Uzeyman and Saul Williams: In the hilltops of Burundi, a group of escaped coltan miners form an anti-colonialist computer hacker collective. The movie will have English subtitles. If you want to watch a Rwanda movie for the first time come and enjoy! We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in a terrace in Peng Chau. There is a ferry at 5:50pm from Central Pier N6 and arrives in Peng Chau at 6:30pm. I can meet people at the pier at 6:30pm. Or if you want to spend the day in Peng Chau and meet each other afterwards that's also fine! Please let me know if you are coming beforehand so we can prepare for us to meet and take you to the address. We want to encourage discussion about the movie and its theme afterwards.
