Lenten Devotional Vespers
**Lenten Evening Vespers — Holden Evening Prayer (Marty Haugen)**
Join us for a quiet, candlelit service of Lenten Evening Vespers using *Holden Evening Prayer* by Marty Haugen — one of the most beloved and meditative settings of the Christian evening office.
As the sun sets and the day slows, we gather for prayer, scripture, silence, and song. This simple, beautiful liturgy creates space to breathe, reflect, and listen for God’s voice in the midst of a busy world.
### Why Lent?
Lent is the 40-day season of preparation leading to Easter. It is a time of honesty and renewal — a season for turning our hearts back toward God, remembering our need for grace, and walking again the road that leads to the cross and ultimately to resurrection. Traditionally, Lent is marked by prayer, reflection, repentance, and hope.
### Why Vespers?
Vespers is the ancient evening prayer of the church. For centuries, Christians have gathered at dusk to mark the close of day with psalms, scripture, and song. In Lent, evening prayer becomes a particularly powerful practice — slowing us down, quieting our hearts, and inviting us into the deep mystery of Christ’s journey toward the cross.
### About Holden Evening Prayer
Written by Marty Haugen at Holden Village, this setting of Evening Prayer is known for its hauntingly beautiful melodies and its gentle, contemplative spirit. The music is simple, repetitive, and easy to sing — drawing everyone into prayer, whether you are new to church or have prayed these words for a lifetime.
***
Come as you are.
All are welcome.
No church background required.
Step out of the noise of the world and into the stillness of the evening.
Walk the Lenten road together — one prayer at a time.
Fluentbody™ with Elsabeth on Wednesdays
*This session will be the **last of this current Fluentbody round** before I take a moment to rework the format. Feel welcome to join!*
**Fluentbody™** is a somatic movement practice that invites you to reconnect with your body and the present moment. Guided by breath, music, and awareness, you’re encouraged to move intuitively—led by sensation rather than thought. It’s not about how it looks, but how it feels.
Each session unfolds as a shared journey with a clear intention, supporting authentic movement beyond ideas of right or wrong. The practice can be grounding and energising, helping release tension, awaken sensation, and explore both softness and strength.
No movement or dance experience is needed. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in (layers recommended). We move barefoot or in socks. ***This is a donation based session with suggested donation between €5-€15.*** Looking forward to move with you on Wednesdays!
When our favorite artists and thinkers disappoint us
**Experimental Discussion**
**Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)**
Have you ever been disappointed in an artist, a thinker or a public figure who was actually important to you?
In this discussion, we want to reflect on how we deal with moments when art or ideas that matter to us are suddenly poisoned by something we learn about the people who made them.
This is a version of the old question „Can you separate the art from the artist?“. However, in this discussion I’d love for us to focus on our personal experience rather than debating how society should deal with art we don’t personally care about.
In this event, we’ll use experimental methods to structure our conversation and encourage insightful exchange.
Find out more in the FAQ below, or [send us an email](mailto:info@diskussions-experiment.de) if you have any questions!

**FAQ**
***What can I expect from the event?***
Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out or feel.
Our intention is always to create a space where conversations unfold more mindfully, relaxed, and insightful than they would in an unmoderated setting. To achieve this, we experiment with different rules, which may work better or worse at times :)
In any case, it’s always worth sticking around for a while after the moderated part – our participants are lovely, and it’s a great additional opportunity to exchange ideas
***Who is this event for?***
This event is for anyone who is curious about the topic and/or the method.
We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome.
You don’t need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part.
***Do I have to actively participate, or can I just listen?***
It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be a name round as well as breakout groups, i.e. short segments in which all participants talk in groups of 2-3 people. You do not have to participate in these; you can use the time for a break instead.
***What’s the duration of the event?***
Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel welcome to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation.
***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?***
The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms!
***What is "The Discussion Experiment"***
The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations.
Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively.
Read more about it on the [main page.](https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/) This project is run by [Igor Don](http://www.linkedin.com/in/igor-don) and Maria Scholze.

Kostenloser Info-Zoom zum Training: innere Freiheit & Klarheit durch Gefühle
Infoabend zum Dreijahres-Training - Kostenfrei (live über Zoom)
Start: Mi. 11. Mär. 26, 19:00 Uhr
Ende: 21:00 Uhr

4th Lent - Saturday Evening Service in English with Holy Communion
Join us for our Saturday Evening Worship with Holy Communion—a service for night owls and anyone who needs a different rhythm for the weekend. Centered on John 9:1–41, we hear the story of Jesus healing the man born blind—and the deeper question it raises: what does it mean to truly see?
This is a night for honest faith. Light breaks in, eyes open, and we’re confronted with the unsettling truth that sometimes the people most sure they “see” are the ones most resistant to grace. That’s not just then—it’s us. We all carry blind spots, assumptions, and ways of hiding from what we’d rather not face. In church, we name this because the Gospel isn’t denial; it’s illumination. Christ meets us in the dark and leads us toward what is real and freeing.
We’ll gather in a old school liturgy, share Holy Communion, and enjoy warm fellowship afterward. All are welcome. We mean it: ALL are welcome!
Christian Singles' Meetup
International Meetup for those who still like to follow the Peaceful teachings of Christ.
We are free and curious humans, try to practice patience, kindness, humanity, etc, and have the freedom to read any book of the world, including the Gospels.
Let's support each-other, upbuild faith, and find some like-minded friends in our community.
(If you are a new believer, you are also welcome only if you have been practicing Christianity regularly for at least since last 3 years. )
Evening Worship Service
Join us for a welcoming and reflective Saturday evening worship service in Engish. This service follows a classic liturgical form and includes Holy Communion, offering a meaningful and grounding way to end the week.
The liturgy is a bit shorter than our Sunday service.
After worship, stay for fellowship and conversation. Whether you are new to faith, returning after a long time, exploring Christianity, or deeply rooted in the tradition — you are truly welcome here.
And when we say *all*, we mean **all**.
Come as you are. You belong.
We celebrate open communion, meaing all are wecome to recieve Holy Communion.
4th Sunday of Lent - Worship in English with Holy Communion
Join us for Worship with Holy Communion on the 4th Sunday of Lent, centered on John 9:1–41—Jesus healing the man born blind, and the deeper question of what it means to truly see. This is a day full of holy tension: light breaking in, eyes opening, and the unsettling truth that sometimes the people most confident they “see” are the ones most resistant to grace.
That’s not just a Bible story—it’s our life. We all carry blind spots, assumptions, and ways of protecting ourselves from what we don’t want to face. In church, we name this because the Gospel is not self-improvement—it’s illumination. Christ comes to meet us in our darkness, to expose what harms us, and to lead us into a freer, truer way of living.
We’ll worship in a traditional liturgy, celebrate Holy Communion, and then share great fellowship after the service. All are welcome. We mean it: ALL are welcome!
Sunday Service 10:45am
You are welcome to join Sunday services at our church location.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Find the Essential Story of Your Family Tree! (First Steps in Metagenealogy)
Please join us at New Pages to take your first steps in discovering the essential story of your family tree.
Using the book *Metagenealogy: Self-Discovery through Psychomagic and the Family Tree* (Jodorowsky and Costa) as a guiding text, the hosts will help you put together the initial draft of your family tree so that you might learn the essential story you tell and live out in your life. You will then learn the next steps you should take to more fully fill out this story and to make the family tree your ally rather than your enemy.
Metageneaology seeks to combine art and science in order to help people create for themselves a meaningful life.
Why is this important? We all are in the process of living out some type of story we tell ourselves. Often, this story isn't something we created completely on our own, but is passed down to us via the family tree. It is important that we not only become aware of this story, but that we feel i*n control of it* rather than *being* *controlled by it*.
Please join us for the first ever session in this work that we have found immensely help for our own selves.
A note: please complete no preparatory work on your tree before the event. You need only bring yourself and perhaps your favorite pen.
Attendance is limited to 9 people to allow for adequate time to focus on the discovery and building of each person's tree. Please, if you RSVP and then change your mind, change your status so that another person might be able to join.
*The event is free, but a modest donation helps us continue to offer events in the future.*
Coffee and Brunch for Like-Minded People
At [Pressecafe am Alexanderplatz](https://share.google/fQVEHlVOdOq1pV7FX) we’re gathering seekers and believers who resonate with the Law of Attraction, the teachings of Abraham-Hicks, Joe Dispenza, and the idea that we consciously create our own reality.✨ Over coffee and good food, we’ll share experiences, insights, and practical ways to manifest our desires in daily life.
Whether you’re new to these ideas but deeply interested in this topic and want to start practicing, or you’re already a seasoned practitioner, this is a relaxed, supportive space to connect with like-minded people. Let’s inspire each other and co-create joy, abundance, and purposeful living together! ☕🥐
We will meet at the entrance
⚠️⚠️⚠️**Please note:** After 2 no-shows or cancellations less than 24 hours before the event, you will be removed from the group and will not be able to participate in future events.

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
