However, the lower mind can obstruct this wakeful and alert state if we are not aware of this instrument – our mind – and its place in our lives. Without this awareness, we allow it to be driven by lower impulses and the (collective) unconscious, leading us away from our true potential. The time around the new moon favors the stillness of the lower mind, allowing access to a higher state of pure perception. This state enables us to connect our consciousness to the universal mind (Shiva) and uncover the essential truth behind every experience. As meditating together in a group amplifies the effects, we gather monthly for the „Night of Shiva“ to experience this collective energy. Beforehand, an experienced astrologer will present the astrological quality of the moment of Shivaratri, including an outlook on the time quality of the upcoming month. Becoming aware of the astrological quality of time helps align our lives with the „Big Picture,“ bringing us closer to harmony with the cosmos and the divine will. It also helps to create an awareness of subtle nuances that can be absorbed and felt during the subsequent meditation. Afterward, there will be an introduction to the question: „What is Shivaratri, and why is it especially valuable to meditate at this moment?“ We will gain valuable insights from an experienced yoga teacher on the role of Shiva in our personal lives. Addiction isn’t limited to substances. It can show up in the everyday things we crave: technology, exercise, social media, work, and even the constant pursuit of achievement. This session explores the roots of addiction and why quick hits from doom scrolling, overworking, technology, or seeking attention never truly satisfy. Together, we’ll discuss what it means to live as our authentic selves in a culture wired for dopamine hits, instant gratification, and the fear of missing out – and how spiritual practices and community can help us reclaim balance and wholeness.

He leads kirtans throughout the world and has recorded a wide variety of acclaimed CDs, including his latest releases, 3 Prayers and Radio Nada. In 2012, Devadas collaborated with indie-rock icon J Mascis to produce and record the film score for the feature documentary One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das.
