Bratislava Discovery: Old & New (from Vienna)
Meet global expats and internationally-minded locals at this open networking night in the heart of Bratislava, Slovakia, conveniently starting and ending at Vienna Main Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof).
After arriving in Bratislava by direct train, we first take a leisurely stroll through its medieval city center *StarĂŠ Mesto*, passing St. Michael's Gate, the 17th-century main square and revolutionary *Hviezdoslavovo nĂĄmestie*. Obviously there's a shared history, so what kind of similarities and differences to Vienna will you come to notice in the Slovak capital?
But Bratislava is more than just its Old Town. After admiring the iconic Blue Church, we take in in wide angled views of the Zaha Hadid-designed *Sky Park* before having early dinner at Nivy Mall food court with plenty of local and international choices at your own taste and budget.
Full and satisfied, we then head over to the [International Night Bratislava](https://bratislava.ixpat.com/internationalnight) for networking, games and fun. Right after the event, we'll hop on our train back to Vienna, arriving shortly before midnight.
Total time: Half-day
Language: English
Bring: Valid Passport/Visa or EU-National ID Card
(driver's license doesn't count as travel ID)
Wear: Seasonal outfit, rain gear depending on weather
**Value and booking**

Meet New Friends at Viennaâs Hidden Park

The weather changed our plans a bit â so instead of the Easter meetup 10.04., weâre going to Hirschstetten:
đ

đ Time: 2:00 pm
đ Location: (Iâll share the exact location in the WA group https://chat.whatsapp.com/GqWhKBUCR5RAhI6WUguIcR?mode=wwt)
Join us for a spring meetup in one of Viennaâs most charming and underrated places đ¸â¨
Blumengärten Hirschstetten is such a beautiful spot â with blooming trees, little ponds, a labyrinth, cute ground squirrels, and even small houses like in a little Austrian village đżđˇ
Even though itâs still inside Vienna, being there feels like youâve left the city for a while and escaped somewhere in the countryside.
Iâm pretty sure many people in Vienna still havenât been there â which makes it even more special to discover together.
Weâll take a relaxed walk through the park, enjoy the spring atmosphere, chat, and simply spend a nice time đż
Come join us â whether youâre new in the city or have lived here for years, itâs a nice way to spend an afternoon and meet friendly people.

Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows,
Whether youâre a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us!
Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent SchĂśnbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast.
Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too.
What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the SchĂśnbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit GrĂźnbergstraĂe). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the ârunningâ part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :)
We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, weâre off to breakfast!
Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in SchĂśnbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45.
We are a fun group of runners who donât take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier.
Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup.
Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a âŹ6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
