š **Hey everyone!** Is **DC** worried about **Marvel**, or is **Marvel** worried about how hard **DC** is hitting back? One thingās for sure: 2026 is shaping up to be the year of superhero rivalry. After the success of **[James Gunnās Superman](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox8ZLF6cGM0)**, of course **DC** was going to swing big again, and now **Supergirl** is ready to soar.
This one is directed by **Craig Gillespie** and marks the second film in the **[brand-new DC-EU](https://www.dc.com/blog/2023/01/31/the-next-generation-of-dc-movies-and-tv-has-arrived)**. The story follows **Kara Zor-El** as she celebrates her 21st birthday while travelling across the galaxy, until a tragedy sends her on a relentless quest for revenge. Expect some mythology shake ups and a bold new direction for the character. Looking back, a **Supergirl film in the DC-EU** has been highly anticipated by fans for years, and it should be great fun experiencing it on IMAX.
On that note we'll **meet-and-greet** at **iMax BFI Cafe-Bar** at **5:00 pm** where we''ll be discussing our predictions and superhero lore. **The movie** is at **6:15 pm** where you'll find us in **row M9 -M10,** but you can choose, which ever seats you like.
**After the film** around **8:25 pm** we will reconvene back at the **cafe bar foyer area**, where we'll begin our **social, commentary** and **[Letterboxd Review](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse)**.
Letās make the battle of the superheroes one to remember. **And if youāre feeling a little fancy-pants, feel free to bring your own goofy superhero T-shirts.**
**Looking forward to seeing you there!**

Hi there āØ
Whoever you are, youāre warmly invited to join us for a full-day writing workshop exploring the themes of Love & Desire on Saturday 27th June in Old Street, London š
Weāll spend the day reading excerpts and poems about love and desire, then writing to prompts, with food & drink, space to think, and time to write something honest, strange, or quietly intense āš·
Together, weāll be exploring love in a variety of forms: tenderness, lust, queer desire, and heartbreak š
Weāll be drawing inspiration from poets such as Sappho, Audre Lorde, Pablo Neruda, Adrienne Rich, John Donne, Ocean Vuong, Carol Ann Duffy, Natalie Diaz, and Richard Siken š
Alongside short readings and extracts, weāll be writing throughout the day using guided prompts and exercises šæ
**What do we mean by Love & Desire?**
Tenderness: affection, intimacy, and the quiet ways love shows up in everyday life š¤
Desire: attraction, lust, obsession, and the intensity of wanting or being wanted š„
Heartbreak: endings, longing, memory, and what lingers after love changes shape š
Weāll move through these themes using poems as sparks rather than rules, letting language unfold naturally š
**So, whatās the plan? šļø**
* Arrive at the venue for tea or coffee and a gentle warm-up writing session ā
* Settle into reading, conversation, supported exploration, and lots of writing āļø
* Break for lunch together nearby š„
* Head back in for an afternoon of deeper writing and creative experiments šæ
* End the day with a drink and optional sharing of work in a relaxed space š·
**Whatās included? š**
* A full-day poetry workshop with guided writing exercises āØ
* Tea or coffee on arrival ā
* Brunch included š„
* A drink in the afternoon š·
* Literary handouts and prompts to take home š
* A small book gift to continue your writing beyond the day š
**What do you need to bring? š**
* Yourself, and your attention š
* A notebook and pen, or a laptop if you prefer šļø
* Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to write without pressure š±
**Our style šæ**
We create a friendly, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere, and everyone is welcome š
No prior experience with writing is needed š
There is no pressure to share your writing unless you want to š
You can participate quietly, actively, or somewhere in between, at your own pace āØ
Warm wishes for now,
Sean

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to āpin the blameā on someone or something. If you donāt find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, donāt know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe youāve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
⢠How to āeraseā the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isnāt always repeating past mistakes.
⢠Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
⢠Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
⢠Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
⢠Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
⢠What underlies ācorrosive criticismā or the need to invalidate self or others?
⢠How one can stably change oneās outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
⢠Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
⢠How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
⢠How to enhance oneās own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or oneās career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are āstoredā and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can āeraseā those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become ātoxicā personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you wonāt be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!
This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

June Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our June read is ***Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible*** ***Voyage***
**by Alfred Lansing.**
A work of nonfiction, and one of the most astonishing survival stories in history, we follow Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew after their ship is crushed by Antarctic ice. Stranded in one of the harshest environments on Earth, the men endure months of isolation, freezing temperatures, and near starvationāyet refuse to give up hope. Lansing brings their ordeal to life through vivid detail and firsthand accounts, capturing both the brutality of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. At its core, the story is a powerful testament to leadership, perseverance, and the unbreakable will to survive against impossible odds.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **all** **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! š
