You have gone out for coffee before, but have you tried bringing your furry friend? Let’s socialize with other cat lovers and cats in a relaxing atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to socialize your kitties and provide them with stimulation. Wheneverer you arrive, feel free to grab a coffee or sandwhich from Coffee Republic and then meet us at the little park just across the way in King Farms’s Village Center. It is just Northwest of the cafe. Make sure you bring a collar for your cat! A leash/harness, backpack, cat carrier, or stroller is required to make sure our furry friends are safe. All cats should also be up-to-date on their vaccinations. You are welcome to join us if you do not have a cat or want to leave your baby at home to nap 💤 🅿️ Parking: There is plenty of free parking in front of the cafe. Tons of space to run and chase. Most if not all dogs are off leash. Occasional runners and kids (there is a playground), so keep that in mind. There is also a trail inside with a stream that the dogs love to play in.

Speaker: Michelle Kleinhans is an avid native-plant gardener and nature lover who has transformed her conventional yard into a haven for wildlife. She will share with us fascinating facts about backyard fauna, explain why native plants are key to animal wellbeing and biodiversity, and steps you can take to protect local wildlife, even if you don't have a yard of your own. Finally, she will discuss how native-plant gardening relates to veganism and how one can practice animal-rights activism within the gardening community. Join your fellow animal lovers and DC Animal Protection to discuss what’s happening in the animal advocacy scene in DC! This series is a weekly meetup, with guest speakers from all of the major animals rights orgs. We’ll host non-profits such as Pro-Animal Future, International Council for Animal Welfare, DC Voters for Animals, The Humane League, Mercy for Animals and Direct Action Everywhere as well as local grassroots groups like the DC Coalition Against Foie Gras and sanctuaries. We’ll also have special sessions related to health, nutrition and mindfulness! We encourage anyone who is interested in helping animals to attend- no need to be vegan! Join us for a volunteer day helping the animals at Rosie's Farm Sanctuary in Potomac, MD. Before attending this event, you must sign a liability waiver. You will be working on big projects that require many volunteers like removing old bedding, sanitizing stals and replacing with new bedding, along with the daily clean up chores. Wear boots and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Feel free to bring a filled water bottle. On sunny days a brimmed hat and sunglasses may be helpful. Sunscreen is also suggested. Please do not bring any food or yummy-smelling items on your body or in your bag as our animals love to eat and are on special diets. Out of respect for the animals, we do not allow any food with animal products to be consumed at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary. Please ensure that all edible items are plant-based (no dairy, no cheese, no cow’s milk ice cream, no meat, no fish, no eggs). Thank you for your cooperation and respect for this. Our regular Sunday meetup at the Shirlington Dog Park -- members start arriving around 10:15 a.m. You'll always find an Aussie to play with. There are 3 entrances, so wander the park -- the dogs will find each other! For puppies, Shirlington has a small dog park within the larger dog park. It's the prefect place for your puppy to gain confidence and socialize with others. There is also plenty of room to run. Just a reminder, the Dog Park is under attack by the Arlington County Board of Commissioners. While early plans to decrease the size of the park by 50% has been tabled, it's important to remind Arlington County how important this park is to dogs and owners.
