Day of Arts - Making your own sistrum (30 minutes, mini-workshop)
Day of Arts - Making your own sistrum (30 minutes, mini-workshop)
The sistrum is an ancient, ceremonial instrument used in Egypt and even before that. Plutarch said. “The sistrum makes it clear that all things in existence need to be shaken, or rattled about, and never to cease from motion but, as it were, to be woken up and agitated when they grow drowsy and torpid.” Join in to make this mysterious instrument and take it home with you. *This is an ongoing workshop, from 3pm to 5pm. Creating your sistrum takes around 30mins.*

Day of Arts - workshops & artistic presentations
Day of Arts - workshops & artistic presentations
Art has long been a means to express and perceive universal values of beauty and harmony by finding an expression to unite opposites, like light and darkness, sounds and silences or movement and stillness. And the artist, like the philosopher, finds a way to make the invisible visible or perceivable, whether in paintings, sculptures, music, dance, poetry and so much more. Join us for an afternoon in the search for Wisdom through Philosophy & Art. **2pm Introduction ‘The Muses’ (Free)** Introduction to the day, with a short talk on the ‘The Muses’, inspiring poetry and dramatic readings. **Ongoing workshop – “Making a shared mosaic” (Free)** From all the individual pieces of tiles there emerges a beautiful unity, each piece is different and contributes to the collective. This is one of the key principles in Mosaic art. Learn more about this and the fundamentals of creating mosaics and how to create simple designs using colourful tiles. ***All are welcome! No experience necessary for any of the activities.*** There are also 2 other workshops running on the day, please click the links below to find out more. **From 2.30pm - Bodypercussions & Vocals (€7, 1.5 hours)** https://www.meetup.com/philosophy-in-rathmines/events/314398224/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events **From 3pm - Making your own sistrum (€5, 30 mins)** https://www.meetup.com/philosophy-in-rathmines/events/314398170/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events00

reviving gardans, Growing community
reviving gardans, Growing community
**Hands in the Soil: Community Growing, Learning & Craic** This first gathering will be a relaxed mix of **hands-on garden work, shared learning, and good conversation**. It’s about getting together in a real space, doing something practical, and seeing what ideas and connections might grow from there. On the day, we’ll: * Get our **hands dirty** with some light garden work and soil prep * Do some **seed sowing** and talk about what grows well locally * **Make kombucha together** and chat about fermentation, food, and simple home practices * Share knowledge, questions, and experiences around growing food * Enjoy some **fellowship, chats, and a bit of craic** along the way.Alongside the practical side, we’ll also have an open, informal discussion about a bigger idea: * The possibility of **small community “park farms” or gardens** in underused green spaces around Dublin * What that might look like, what’s realistic, and whether others feel drawn to exploring it further There’s no pressure, no expertise required, and no expectation beyond showing up with curiosity and a willingness to pitch in. Whether you’re experienced with gardening or completely new, you’re very welcome. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting muddy, and if you have them, gloves. Everything else will be very low-key. This is just a **first step** — a chance to meet, work, talk, and see if there’s a shared appetite to keep growing something together.
Let’s play… Monster of the Week / The Quiet Year
Let’s play… Monster of the Week / The Quiet Year
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games - you will choose which game you play on the day. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination. 🎭 **This week's facilitators:** * 🧛**Antonia** with *[Monster of the Week](https://evilhat.com/product/monster-of-the-week/)*. You are part of a ragtag group of hunters who investigate the strange, the supernatural, and the terrifying. Think *Buffy*, *Supernatural*, or *The X-Files*. Ordinary people (or mostly ordinary) who know that the darkness is real, that every fairytale and folk story contains some truth. As a hunter, you've decided to do something about it. This week, your group hears of a series of murders happening in Allberg. Four bodies in six weeks. All lost more blood than their wounds suggest. In addition, weird symbols have been found around each victim. Can you find the culprit and prevent further tragedy? * 🏘️ **Adam** with *[The Quiet Year](https://buriedwithoutceremony.itch.io/the-quiet-year)*, a GM-less, map-making game. You define the struggles of a community living after the collapse of civilisation, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern. The game is played using a deck of cards – each of the 52 cards corresponds to a week during the quiet year. Each card triggers certain events – bringing bad news, good omens, project delays and sudden changes in luck. At the end of the quiet year, the Frost Shepherds will come, ending the game. *** Feel free to ask the organisers any questions you have (here or on our [Discord server](https://tinyurl.com/indie-rpgs-dublin)).

Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen. Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have. We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too. Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best. We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you. Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop). You are very welcome to our dojo!

Columbus: Luke 3
Columbus: Luke 3
"Do as I say, not as I do." Children tend to have a built-in ability to recognize hypocrisy quicker than many adults, and there are few children who will respect an adult whose actions do not match his or her words. John the Baptizer wanted to make it clear that God himself is in NO way pleased by people who claim to follow Him and whose lives in NO way reflect His character. In fact, the Greek word for "actor" that people used in the first century is *"hypokrites"*. John called out the truth to any and all who would listen--from peasants to the king, even at peril of his own life and freedom--and insisted God does not judge by words alone, but by actions and in truth. Luke Chapter 3 concludes with making it clear to the Jewish and Greek readers of the day that Jesus was not only the rightful King of Israel, but also the true Son of Man--the Son of Adam, Who came to provide a way for those who had followed Adam into sin to return to fellowship with God. Take a look at Luke Chapter 3 and join us at **10 am,** **Sunday, June 28,** at **True Food Kitchen at Easton Town Center.** We'd love to see you there! Christ The Healer, Columbus, Ohio
Christ The Healer, Columbus, Ohio
From the moment sin entered the world, death began. Adam and Eve were not stricken dead immediately, but the process by which none of us lives forever in health and wholeness in these earthly bodies started its inexorable march to the inevitable end—death. The Bible makes it clear that by one man’s sin, death came to all mankind, but that by the obedience of One Perfect Man, Jesus, many are made righteous (Romans 5:19). F.F. Bosworth recognized this truth; he also would have people consider that the God Who provided for our greatest need—salvation from eternal death—would also provide healing for the lesser, but still great needs, of health and healing from sickness, disease, and the consequences of sin that we encounter before we die. Join us as we examine the case for biblical healing in the book first published in 1924, ***Christ The Healer*. We meet at True Food Kitchen, Easton Town Center on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 6:30 pm.** Get your tickets on [EventBrite](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/christ-the-healer-columbus-ohio-tickets-1989133215995)!
