Maki-e is a traditional Japanese lacquer decoration technique. Techiniques are involved drawing pictures, patterns, and letters on the surface of lacquerware using lacquer, and then sprinkling and fixing metal powder, such as gold or silver, onto the surface. In our workshop, you have the opportunity to create maki-e designs using traditional Japanese patterns (wagara) or your own original designs. Peter Constant nemen je mee op een muzikale reis over zee en land, met als kloppend hart het indrukwekkende tweeluik *Tales of Wind and Sail*. De rijke klanken van het Schütz Ensemble en het warme, gelaagde gitaargeluid van Gitaarorkest Guitarrísimo smelten samen tot een muzikale vertelling. *Tales of Wind and Sail* is een ode aan de zee, de wind, de vrijheid en de menselijke daadkracht, in 2021 geschreven door de Australische componist Richard Charlton. This month we will be discussing **Frank Santoro**, an American cartoonist, painter, and comics critic known for his expressive lines, experimental page layouts, and vibrant use of color. His graphic novels—including *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*—blend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists. Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.
