**\*\*\*Tickets to this event are now sold out\*\*\*** Join us at AFI Silver Theatre March 13th for the first night of the New African American Film Festival where they'll be showing the highly acclaimed film My Father's Shadow by Nigerian director Akinola Davies. This film is Nigeria’s first-ever Cannes selection and winner of the Caméra d’Or Special Mention. **🖥️ *It wants to be heard… so be afraid of the silence this Friday the 13th.*** **👋 What’s up guys**! Watching a horror movie on **Friday the 13th** sounds pretty perfect to me. This new film premiered at the **Fantasia Film Festival** to positive reviews from critics, though of course we’ll decide for ourselves if we agree. The movie has now been picked up by **A24** and is being released exclusively here in the U.S. This Canadian horror film is written and directed by **Ian Tuason** in his directorial debut. It centres on a paranormal podcaster who becomes haunted after receiving mysterious audio recordings from a couple plagued by a supernatural entity. From what I understand, the film is a **sound-driven, slow-burn thriller**, leaning heavily into audio-based immersive horror and a strong sense of isolation. If you’re a horror aficionado like myself, meet me at the **Look Dine-In Bar at 6:30 PM** for a quick catch-up before the film. ***🚀 In a world full of uncertainties, sometimes a leap of faith is the only move left.*** 👋**Alright you guys!** Let’s diving into this curious sci-fi tale produced and directed by **Phil Lord** and **Christopher Miller**. Definitely something to chat about over drinks and bring to life in a nutshell. We’ll keep things easygoing with a **casual pre-social** before heading into the screening together.
