Take a moment for yourself by the lake. This lakeside mindfulness session is created to help you slow down, breathe, and reconnect in a calm outdoor setting. We’ll start with a short 5-minute introduction round, followed by 10 minutes of guided breathing exercises to help you relax and reset. Then we’ll move into a 10-minute body scan to bring awareness to the body. We’ll finish with a 10-minute group reflection, where we take a moment to gently connect with our feelings in a safe and relaxed space. Afterwards, we’ll stay a bit longer for a casual social moment to chat, connect, and enjoy the lakeside together 🤍 It might get a bit cooler during the evening, Please bring warm clothing and maybe a blanket so you can stay comfortable ✨ I will be teaching the Pilates session until 20:00. Ownership types are what give Rust its memory safety guarantees: the compiler statically rules out entire classes of bugs (use-after-free, data races, dangling pointers) with no garbage collector and no runtime cost. Through worked examples, the talk builds a working understanding of ownership in practice, drawing on the conceptual model of "[A Grounded Conceptual Model for Ownership Types in Rust](https://arxiv.org/abs/2309.04134)" and its accompanying Aquascope tool. **Why care?** * ***For systems programmers***: ownership types are a general approach to resource management that shows up across many languages, with Rust being the most prominent industrial example. The intuition you build means finally making sense of borrow checker errors when they matter most, both in Rust and beyond it. * ***For PL and type-theory enthusiasts***: ownership types have deep connections to linear and affine type theory.
