Agentic Coding in the Wild
In collaboration with **Zalando Switzerland**, we explore how AI agents are transforming software engineering.
**Note:** These two talks will be held in **English**.
**1st Talk:**
Title: **Agentic Coding in the Wild**
**Ole Wendland** shares hands-on experience on delegating technical tasks while maintaining human oversight.
**The Core Concept:** Tasks like boilerplate, tests, and glue code are delegable, but **business logic and architecture** remain a human responsibility. The developer’s role shifts to a steering authority: **"Trust, but verify."**
**Key Takeaways:**
* **Precision Matters:** Agents execute what is explicitly described, not what is implicitly meant.
* **Real-World Challenges:** From complex debugging (symptom vs. cause) to potential knowledge loss through over-delegation.
* **The Shift:** Teams and organizations must adapt to a new, accelerated pace of development.
Discover how **Agentic Coding** drives massive efficiency when combined with clear control and structured processes.
**2nd Talk:**
Title: **Data Engineering with Codex**
**Andy Bloechliger**, Backend Engineer at Zalando
This talk offers a practical look at how a Zalando data engineer uses the Codex AI agent to automate daily workflows,
providing actionable tips for mastering agentic tools and a glimpse into the road ahead for AI-powered teams.

Sapere aude! – Immanuel Kant
You cannot speak about Enlightenment in Europe without naming Immanuel Kant. In his 1784 essay **Was ist Aufklärung?** he offered a definition, which was was bold in its simplicity: it is the human being's emergence from self-incurred immaturity — the failure to think for oneself, not from lack of capacity, but lack of resolve. His shorthand for this was **sapere aude!** : dare to know (or to think).
The essay raises questions that haven't settled with time. What does it mean to think for oneself, and how free are we to do so? How does his vision hold up in an age of algorithmic feeds, institutional inertia, Artificial Intelligence, and information overload? This evening takes the essay as a starting point for a broader conversation about autonomous thinking, critical expression, and what remains of the Enlightenment idea today. Prior reading is useful but not required.
**Preparation:**
For the aficionados and fans of Kant, join our [premier reading session](https://www.meetup.com/philosophical_minds_zurich/events/314198793/?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=share-btn_savedevents_share_modal&utm_source=link&utm_version=v2&member_id=292237378) in April. Other preparation material:
* The first 6 minutes of [this podcast](https://historyofphilosophy.net/introduction-early-modern)
* A 10-minutes [introduction video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ev_W_V7r8kU)
* The [original text](http://www.zeno.org/Philosophie/M/Kant,+Immanuel/Beantwortung+der+Frage:+Was+ist+Aufkl%C3%A4rung) or [English translation](https://www.marxists.org/reference/subject/ethics/kant/enlightenment.htm)
**For Philosophical Minds Zurich theme events in general:**
At our theme events, we begin with a brief topic introduction, followed by engaging discussions in small groups. It’s all about conversation, not just listening. Also, please note, we keep the atmosphere relaxed and informal—**there’s** **no pressure to speak in front of anyone**.
**Important:** When you register for the event, please commit to it and don't be a NO SHOW. Presumably, when the ancient philosophers decided to go to an event, they kept to it.
We look forward to seeing you.
**Payment:** You can pay at the venue (Twint/Revolut/Cash). Thus, if you want to register at Meetup just click attend - no more needed ;).
We look forward to seeing you.

Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs.
This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context.
We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing.
