**Are you someone who hasn't painted for a long time and you'd like to try it out once again?** We are an international group of people who come together every Thursday evening after a long workday to learn painting and spend quality time together with drinks and snacks. **It doesn't matter why or what you want to make here. You are welcome!** Everyone works on different paintings. Your art lesson will be personalised to your level. Most of us are beginners with also people more experienced in mixed age group above 16 years old. Our teacher Secil will guide you at every step of your painting. There are many art lessons consisting of paintings of famous artists and artworks also different subjects from landscapes to portraiture, still life etc. You can consult with the teacher about what to paint or paint from the pictures you select. You can also bring your own tablet and photographs. **Available art mediums:** Acrylics, oil colours, soft pastels, painting additives, all the materials for drawing and their equipment such as easels, brushes, and palettes. **Pricing of your first trial class:** The trial class costs €37,50 including VAT, with all art materials, canvases (24x30 cm), colours, brushes, aprons, gloves, and refreshments (wine, tea, and bites) provided. 📍 Meeting point: **Nijmegen Lent Station** (⚠️ not Nijmegen Centraal!) 🗓 **Saturday, March 28th, 2026** 🕑 **14:00** After starting our journey through Dutch history with **Prehistory**, it’s time to move forward to the **Roman era**. And when we talk about Romans in the Netherlands, there is one unavoidable place to go: **Nijmegen**, the oldest city in the country, founded by the Romans as **Noviomagus**. We’ll start from the other side of the river Waal and walk towards the historic city centre, combining **river landscapes, green parks and urban history**. Along the way we’ll explore how the Romans conquered large parts of what is now the Netherlands, built forts and military camps along the Rhine (the *limes*), and established their first real city here. This walk is about **stories, traces and layers of history**—and about seeing Nijmegen through Roman eyes. 🥾 **The walk is about 5 km** and will take us through nature, parks and the city while discovering the Roman past of Nijmegen and the Netherlands. *** 🍺 **Post-walk drinks at Cafe De Zon** After the walk we’ll stop at **Cafe De Zon** to relax and have a drink together. It’s a perfect moment to chat, share impressions from the walk and wind down. 🏔️ Everest Update for the Veluwe Power Hikers We were preparing for a classic VPH high altitude expedition on top of the world. Unfortunately there is some disappointing news. Starting in 2026, Nepal is introducing strict new regulations for climbing Mount Everest. Climbers will now need to have previously summited a 7,000 meter peak in Nepal and must also submit mandatory health certificates. Because we cannot realistically summit a 7,000 meter peak and then climb Everest on the same day during our hike, I am unfortunately obliged to change the program. There is also another small complication. 1 April falls on a Wednesday, which makes organizing the expedition a bit difficult. After a poll in the WhatsApp group, we decided to move the date to **28 March** and climb the highest point of the Veluwe, **Signaal Imbosch (110 m)**. Even if it’s not Everest, don’t underestimate this hike: we will cover **22 km with about 350 metres of elevation gain** at a brisk pace. At this altitude, however, oxygen bottles are no longer recommended. Hey! So yeah the idea is to meet up make some art and have a good time! It doesnt really matter what medium you choose or how good you think you are. The point is to be encouraged to take some time out of the week to make art, for whatever reason you do it for. Im not associated to the restaurant Elixer by the way, its just my favorite one so I thought about doing it there. I think its a quirky and happy place. The address is Batjanstraat 1a. His graphic novels—including *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*—blend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists. Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.

A fun way to compare wines from two different countries at a time. House Wine is squaring off two countries' wines against each other each Thursday in March. In subsequent classes we will verify and hone our talents with activities and discussion. These are hands-on workshops and participation is expected. The goal of our series will be to develop expertise in areas of particular interest such as mediumship, channeling, divination, healing and, etc.. We’ll begin with a short grounding moment, followed by a brief reading from spiritual or philosophical traditions, and an open reflection circle where participants can share (or simply listen). Libera Animae is an interfaith community focused on inner growth, creativity, and authentic connection. All backgrounds are welcome.
