Data Architecture, Databases & Pipelines: Malta Tech Talks #11
Data Architecture, Databases & Pipelines: Malta Tech Talks #11
Join us for an evening dedicated to the architecture and engineering of modern data systems with production-ready and open-source solutions. ## Agenda: ***6:35***-7:05 PM **CDC — Till Failover Do Us Part** *By Irina Lager, Senior Database Architect, Altenar* CDC looks like the answer to everything: real-time data, clean integrations, simple architecture. In practice, it’s not that simple. We’ll go through how log-based CDC actually works, when it makes sense, and what can go wrong — including real-world lessons from running it in production. ***7:20***-8:00 PM **The Race to Zero Latency: Next-Gen Data Streaming** *By Matthew Aquilina, Big Data Architect, Altenar* Introducing a paradigm shift: decoupling storage from compute and bringing computation directly to the data stream to solve message queue overload and high compute costs. ***8:10***-8:40 PM **Taking Full Control of the Data Stack: No DBT Cloud, No Lock-In** *By Evgeny Ermakov, Founder iJKos & Partners ltd, ex-Toloka.ai* Let's assemble a flexible and fully open-source data stack using dbt OSS with Airflow in production. Systemic Constellations in Support of Your Personal-Professional Growth Journey
Systemic Constellations in Support of Your Personal-Professional Growth Journey
**Showing Up in the World** *Systemic Constellations for Personal & Professional Growth* A full weekend workshop (Saturday & Sunday) exploring the place where your professional path meets your life story. Many of the challenges we face in our work lives don’t actually begin at work. They emerge from unseen loyalties, inherited patterns, lingering anxieties, and unfinished movements in our personal and family histories. When these forces remain out of view, they quietly shape our choices—and limit how fully we can bring our gifts into the world. Through Systemic and Family Constellation processes, this workshop offers a grounded, experiential space to explore the deeper dynamics influencing your professional journey. Together, we will work with themes of visibility, confidence, purpose, success, and belonging—not by fixing what’s ā€œwrong,ā€ but by restoring order, connection, and natural movement. This weekend supports you in: \- Gently uncovering hidden blocks and underlying anxieties \- Releasing limitations that no longer serve your growth \- Finding your rightful place in your work and in the world \- Standing more fully behind your gifts\, voice\, and contributions When inner and outer paths come back into alignment, showing up in the world becomes simpler—more embodied, more authentic, and more true. About the host: Illi Adato is an innovator in the constellations field, having researched and developed several new techniques for applying Systemic Constellations, including HypnoConstellationsā„¢ and Distant Healing Constellationsā„¢. These methods offer simple ways to harness resources which are often unseen and support personal strength, resilience and growth. Cost: 175 Euros You can also have the option to join as a representative only. As a representative you can experience a depth of compassion for others you may have never known existed. You can open to a depth and breadth of equanimity which can allow you to experience the most difficult situations and emotions with an open heart and open mind; while avoiding fight, flight or freeze reactions. Representatives can process a lot of their own issues while representing, it is one of the most profound aspects of this work. 'Representative' ticket cost: 99 Euros You can read comments and testimonials about Illi’s work from previous workshop participants here: [https://g.page/LondonConstellations/review](https://g.page/LondonConstellations/review) To secure your spot to either have your own constellation done (175 Euros) or join as a representative (99 Euros), kindly book through this link: [https://rb.gy/8yur5x](https://rb.gy/8yur5x?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHghWfdCWVp5A35Wf43MKAZggaC0jxrHD7UlrRrJmk0bvx-pEbCmwQI77QWnK_aem_wmnfyFzH5zGS3lDJSbmdMA)

Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs. This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context. We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing. **SPEAKER BIO** Mosaic Syed is a Senior Data Engineering and Cloud Solutions Architect with over 20 years of experience designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions across global enterprise environments. https://www.linkedin.com/in/mosaic-basha-syed-92300856 **CALL FOR SPEAKERS** Learn more: [https://www.awscolumbus.com/get-involved/](https://www.awscolumbus.com/get-involved/) **THANK YOU** *VEEAM* for hosting our meetup! Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * There's a restroom along the route at [Tuttle Park Community Center](https://maps.app.goo.gl/KTZJgLE1CrrbRNmJ7), which is about two‑thirds of the way from [Clinton-Como Park](https://maps.app.goo.gl/z8Cx8evwLiWundMe8) to our [turnback point](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZXk7qUVszLQ8EJxHA). * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. šŸ¤ šŸ‘‹ **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).
