The Six menu at the second last day of IDES.
The Six menu at the second last day of IDES.
Hi all, Note: ensure to read the RSVP rules below on how to secure your spot for this event (Ides restaurant closing) after placing your name on the waitlist. Some may have heard of the news that IDES’ last day is on the 14th March 2026 and the early session times were quickly taken on this day after their closure announcement. https://www.broadsheet.com.au/melbourne/food-and-drink/article/peter-gunn-to-close-ides-in-march, https://www.theage.com.au/goodfood/melbourne-eating-out/it-may-have-dropped-the-degustation-and-a-hat-but-this-fine-diner-is-still-a-winner-20260119-p5nv5k.html I managed to reserve a table of 6 for The Six sample menu at 6:30pm, Friday 13th March 2026. Those members who attended the farewell dinner at ides 2 years ago marking the founder’s (also group organizer) resignation from her Fine Diners group, would appreciate how nice Ides restaurant was/is. On this day the new organiser/s was/were also appointed for our group…the drum rolled and coronation was officially announced. Anyways, back to the dinner at Ides- Steps required to secure your seat to attend this event: •Payment is required in order of RSVP. (Click on the waitlist to view the number in the queue next to your name) •The first 6 members on the waitlist have 48 hours to make payment in full after placing your name on waitlist •If payment is not made within this timeframe, you will have to give up your sport to the next member in line (eg member on queue number 7th) or you will be removed to "not going list" and if you wish to attend, feel free to re-place your name on the going list to re-queue •Once payment is received I will move your name across to the going list. •Cost of dinner: The Six set menu and the Black Box is $188.70/person including card surcharge for food only. Drinks not included and can be purchased on the evening. >>>>If you change your mind or cancel and are not attending in less than 48 hours' notice before the scheduled event or you are at risk of a cancellation fee of the full price of the reserved menu per person. Time etiquette: A strict 3-hour dining time has been allocated for us. Please arrive early or on time. (I have reserved a table for 6 - please read the RSVP rules above to lock in your spot) (Most likely I won't be able to make it, but I will be meeting you there to finalise the bill for food that you paid me once everyone is arrived and seated. It’s similar to what I have done for the members for the Duck event at Aru last year I hope you can make it. Cheers, LeAnn More about Ides: https://www.timeout.com/melbourne/restaurants/i

CREATING and IMPROVING ABILITY! Free Meetup!
CREATING and IMPROVING ABILITY! Free Meetup!
Your ability to work and live with others is crucial to your survival. To survive well one needs ability. Today meetup topic: Creating and Improving Ability And if you think you already have all the ability one needs to survive well then it is important for you to learn how to KEEP IT FROM GOING AWAY. Attend our Free Meetup! Definition for Ability: One's power to observe, to make decisions and to act. A man is as free, as well-off, as he is able. A family is as happy as it has ability. A business is as well-off as it has able people in it. A country is as well-off as it has able workers, foremen and executives. At today's meetup learn what constitutes ability and more importantly how to develop and improve it so that it does not go away. Fact's are that one's ability is never the same. It either goes up or it will go down. Your natural as well as learned abilities are constantly subject to many of life's pressures. One can therefore simply not rest on one's laurels regarding your current abilities and simply assume they will always be available for use. The time to protect and enhance ability is when you are still able. Any loss of ability will result in less confidence followed by problems resulting in unhappiness. This is called the dwindling spiral. Not just for you, it will impact all others you associate with as well. Today's topic applies to all aspects of life but will focus on how your abilities or lack of abilities or a sudden or gradual lowering of ability relates to work and family life. On your arrival you will be asked to complete a Oxford Personality Test. From this you will learn what ability it is that needs attention and improving. Whilst at our meetup you will also learn about some of the different technologies are that you find here which actively create, protect or enhance ability in key areas of life. The world cries out for better people (More Able People) that will lead happier life's with better better jobs, stronger families as well as community and businesses groups. Get The Know-How for life, attend our meetup or ask me for a time that is better suited to your schedule.
Monthly Social in the Northern Suburbs - Moon Dog - Preston
Monthly Social in the Northern Suburbs - Moon Dog - Preston
Our monthly Northern social is held at Moon Dog World in Preston. Moon Dog World is a brewery, restaurant and bar with a lagoon, waterfall, hidden tiki bar and much more! Atmosphere is on the family restaurant side (dogs and kids a plenty!) but still a fun tropical style environment. Food is better than standard pub fare with exotic flavours and generous serves. Fun for pretty much everyone, so come along and enjoy it with us. Do you live in the Northern or perhaps even the Western suburbs and are interested in catching-up with like minded people? Come along for dinner and meet some friendly people. Our group is informal and open to all. We pay for own food and drinks individually and there is no charge for the organisation of the events. It is a great opportunity to meet others with an emphasis on fun and supporting each other. So whether you choose to come at the start for dinner or later on for drinks, we hope to see you. If something comes up and you can no longer make it, then you can easy change your RSVP to not going. I am looking forward to catching up with those who can make it, Chris

Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!

SOLD OUT- Adventures in Ecological Horticulture

SOLD OUT- Adventures in Ecological Horticulture w Rebecca McMackin
Free at Bexley Library Adventures in Ecological Horticulture with Rebecca McMackin Wednesday, March 18 1:00pm - 2:30pm Gone are the days when a garden could be ornamental alone. We now recognize the impact that our land care practices have on the ecosystems around us, and can see the importance of encouraging biodiversity. Thankfully, we do not need to sacrifice beauty when we invite butterflies and songbirds into our gardens. Rebecca McMackin has cultivated gorgeous landscapes in the toughest environments possible: urban parks, school playgrounds, and the sidewalks of New York City. She will take lessons from her work at Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Museum, and decades of research to share how those of us who are fortunate enough to care for land, can do it beautifully and ecologically. Rebecca McMackin is an ecologically obsessed horticulturist and garden designer. She writes, lectures, and teaches on ecological landscape management and pollination ecology, as well as designs the rare public garden. She is currently Lead Horticulturist for the American Horticultural Society, an Associate with the Harvard Divinity School’s Thinking with Plants and Fungi Initiative, and Consulting Arboretum Curator for Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY. Rebecca spent a decade as Director of Horticulture of Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she managed 85 acres of diverse parkland organically. Their research into cultivating urban biodiversity and ethical management strategies has influenced thousands of people and entire urban parks systems to adopt similar approaches. She has been published by and featured in the New York Times, Gardens Illustrated, on NPR and PBS. Her garden for the Brooklyn Museum recently won the PPA’s Award of Excellence and her TED Talk has been viewed over a million times. She holds M.Sc. from Columbia University and University of Victoria in landscape design and biology and recently completed the Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. This program is presented in partnership with Rooted in Bexley and generously funded by the Bexley Community Foundation and Bexley Community Author Series Fund.
