Free Argentine Tango fundamentals classes weekly for OneLife McLean (Regency) members in McLean Virginia! Nonmembers may pay for the health club entrance at the door ($30) and use the club for the day, which includes the dance classes, use of the pool, weights, tennis, etc . . This series runs from 12 April through mid-June every Sunday 230-330. Following the tango class, there is a dance workout class from 330-430, also included. We play a variety of games with a focus on high interaction Euros. Events will start with quick games while people arrive and eat lunch. We will start longer games between 1:30pm and 2pm. While the official end time is 5pm, people are welcome to continue playing games afterwards. Western Market closes at 7pm on Sundays. Join us for a classic summer night of swing dancing at the beautiful Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park! On May 30, the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra brings live big band music to one of the most iconic dance venues in the DMV. Expect an evening full of swing, jazz, dancing, and vintage energy. A Traditional Curanderismo Cross Over Ceremony it’s also a celebration of life and the love that transcends to the afterlife. On Sunday, May 31st, we will hold a Crossover Ceremony designed to honor the lives of our loved ones, including our precious pets who have passed. This respectful heartfelt ceremony is a beautiful way to celebrate their lives and the love we shared. Please note this is a sacred ceremony with individuals who may be grieving and anyone who is not respectful will be kicked out without a refund. Ceremony Details: Time: Doors open at 9 AM, Cacao Meditation at 12pm-12:30pm. Crossover will officially start at 2pm and we will finish approximately at 6pm. Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO.
