**Event Description**
This is a social event where people have the chance to have a one-to-one conversation with someone they may or may not have met before using a 'conversation menu' (picture attached). A conversation menu is a list of pre-written conversation starter questions which participants use to have a conversation by discussing the different questions. The questions are generally about some of life's big questions and lead to some interesting conversations about important, fundamental topics which we certainly don't get the opportunity to discuss every day. Some might consider our events to be 'small-talk free zones'.
The event brings people together and invites people to discuss topics and answer questions they don't get to discuss on a daily basis, especially with people they don't know. The idea is that the more we talk about topics we don't normally talk about, to people we don't normally talk to in our habitual social circles, the more opportunities, connections and possibilities we create for ourselves. If we discuss different topics with different people, then we achieve different results.
Testimonials for the events held so far include:
'For me it was a brilliant success and hopefully it will be for many others.
It is a simple idea simply executed, asking people to pair up and discuss a number of questions on a list. And it works! Although I vaguely knew my partner, the questions allowed us time to touch on areas that I think we would have been otherwise unlikely to ever discuss e.g. which parts of your life have been a waste of time?'
'Surprisingly good and thoroughly worthwhile. Suggested questions excellent.'
‘I can heartily recommend coming along to a conversation event. The questions were really thought provoking and led to some fascinating conversations. I really enjoyed the evening and I came away with feeling I’d learned a lot from my conversation partner.”
‘I thought it was a very interesting meeting. I thought it was interesting to try to answer personal questions and listen to the other person.’

A Celebration of English Sparkling Wine Dinner at Surveyors House
To celebrate English Wine Week, Searcys are hosting a Dinner in the elegant surroundings of Surveyors House, in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. **The menu will be paired with sparkling wine from Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and Surrey**.
**This dinner brings together four well known English houses, and each Brand Ambassador will present their cuvée and talk about their approach and style**. We will also have an introduction from a representative of GB Wines.
Alongside this, Searcys chef has created a British menu designed to work with the wines and highlight seasonal ingredients. Each course has been paired to show how English sparkling wine can sit across a full meal, not just as an aperitif.
**Sample Menu**
**Canapés** – *Served with Digby Leander Club Rosé*
Seared salmon and Oscietra caviar nori roll
Wild mushroom and pumpkin seed bon bon
**Starter** – *Served with Silverhand Blanc de Blancs*
Charred asparagus, broad bean pesto, potato and onion seed tuile, sunflower
**Main** – *Served with an Old Vintage of Greyfriars*
Lacquered halibut fillet, black rice, Jerusalem artichoke, shellfish sauce
**Dessert** – *Served with Louis Pommery Rosé*
“Strawberries and cream”
So join us as we raise a glass to the great success of our English Wine producers.
**DIETARY ISSUES:** This event is suited to 'flexible' diners but if you have a dietary issue which requires a minor change to the menu please let me know.
**COST:** The ticket price of this event is £90 (+ £4 meetup/paypal fees) to include the canapes and 3 course menu with 4 matching sparkling wines, and service charge. I have reserved 10 places for the group.
**Please note that Meetup now charge an additional fee to attendees on top of the price which the Organiser sets. This fee is paid direct to Meetup and is beyond our control.**
**REFUND POLICY:** If you cancel your place by Thursday 18th latest you will get a refund of £90 but, IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE, only if there is someone on the 'waitlist' who books and pays for your place.

Join us for a night at the theatre as we check out Some Masterchef Sht* — a dark comedy that blends queer storytelling, uncomfortable laughs, and one of the most shocking true crime inspirations in modern memory.
Two men meet after only speaking online. Coffee is ordered. Small talk flows. The tension builds.
Is it a date?
A hook-up?
An interview?
Not quite.
Using a queer lens to reimagine one of the most infamous crimes in recent history, Some Masterchef Sht *explores loneliness, connection, mental health, people-pleasing, and how far someone might go in the name of “doing something nice”.
Expect:
✨ Dark comedy
🌈 Queer storytelling
😳 Taboo topics handled with humour
🎭 Award-winning writing
☕ Post-show chats (optional!)
Winner of the audience-voted favourite play at OffCut Manchester and following successful runs in Manchester and Edinburgh Fringe, this is the London debut production.

Sunshine & Silliness | The ADHDers Picnic | Holborn | Everyone Welcome
We are back again for another day of fun, silly laughs and making new friends!
The event is a picnic in London for ADHDers, neurodivergent people, and friendly chaotic sorts. You don't need ADHD, or a diagnosis. Cool, nice people are welcome.
We’ll be in **Lincoln's Inn Fields** from 3pm ([The women only picnic starts at 1pm)](https://meetu.ps/e/Q29Wk/YBzrR/i) and finish at... whenever. A loose ending feels on brand.
Expect:
*snacks, chats, and fresh air
- wandering conversations and abrupt topic changes
*people arriving late, leaving early, and forgetting what they were saying
- a friendly mix of regulars and new people
Bring:
*something to sit on
- food and drinks
*water
- layers / suncream / emergency crisps
Lincol's Inn Fields is central, easy to get to, and near cafés, pubs and toilets, which is all very helpful for a picnic and for being alive.
Come for twenty minutes or all day. Lurk gently. Overshare magnificently. Get distracted by a dog. Plenty of people come alone, so solo arrivals are very normal. If you are a feeling
a bit shy or awkward, please ask for
Kieran, (that's me) and we can have a chat.
A nice, low-pressure London ADHD social meetup where you overstimulated folks can touch grass for a few hours.
**Directions:**
Come into Lincoln's Inn Field, look for a tree where a bright yellow blanket will be hanging. It's not a big space, we'll be easy to find.
**A note: This is a consent-led space. Please consider not everyone wants to be asked for their phone number on meeting for the first time or to go out on a date. This is a strictly not a dating event. People come here to connect and build community. If anyone has any concerns, please speak to Kieran, (me) directly**

INTRO TO WOODWORK – BASIC WOOD JOINTS - 2 SUNDAYS
**Bookable via our website ➡️** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/intro-to-woodwork-basic-wood-joints-2-sundays-2/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/intro-to-woodwork-basic-wood-joints-2-sundays-2/)
⋆⋆⋆
A beginner's course that goes straight to the heart of woodworking.
This five-week evening course will focus on timeless variations of wood joints that can be used for an endless amount of woodwork projects. Develop your skills with a saw, chisel and plane so that you can measure and mark out your work, cut, fit and glue joints accurately, ensuring your woodwork is strong, durable and darn good-looking.
Learn these classic wood joints while you hone your making ability, and set free your ideas for furniture, box-making and all things fabulous. During the course, you will learn the uses and advantages of each joint as you construct a framework of sample joints. This project is a classic learning method.
The **half-lap joint** can be used to make frames for pictures, perimeter door frames for panel or glass doors, dust dividers in cabinets and in many other situations. Because the half-lap does not add any thickness to the pieces of wood being joined, there are virtually no limitations for using it.
The **mitred half** lap is an elegant yet strong corner joint, with its diagonal cut constructed with an internal half lap,
The **tee halving** is a versatile joint which is often used in internal cabinet frames and simple framing and bracing.
The **half dovetail** is a very strong type of joint because of the way the ‘tails’ and ‘pins’ are shaped. This shape makes it difficult to pull the joint apart and virtually impossible when glue is added. This type of joint is used in box constructions such as draws, jewellery boxes, cabinets and other pieces of furniture where strength is required.
All use of tools and materials included.
Perfect for beginners.
ADHD Picnic for Women & NB people ☀️🥂
Summer. The season when neurotypicals frolic effortlessly in parks while the rest of us spend 45 minutes deciding which bag to bring, arrive having forgotten to eat, and then can't find the group because we didn't think to ask where exactly in the park everyone would be.
Good news: neither did anyone else. We'll find each other eventually.
1PM–3PM: WOMEN ONLY
Women is an inclusive term and those who feels they fit into women, femme presenting, gender queer or NB are welcome to attend.
The first two hours are a women-only space. This means you can talk about your ADHD without anyone interjecting to say their nephew is "a bit like that."
You can also talk about literally anything else, we're not going to make you do sharing circles or fill in a worksheet about your feelings. It's a picnic. Sit on the grass. Eat something. Talk to someone or don't.
3PM ONWARDS: OPEN TO ALL
https://meetu.ps/e/Q2clW/YBzrR/i
Partners, friends, allies, and ADHDers of every variety are welcome from 3pm. The more the merrier, in a low-key way that doesn't actually require anyone to be merry if that's not where they're at.
What to expect:
Grass. Possibly some pigeons.
People who will understand if you need to leave suddenly, or sit slightly away from the group, or talk for forty minutes about one specific thing
Conversations that start mid-thought and end unresolved. This is fine. This is us.
Someone who brought too many snacks. Someone who brought no snacks and forgot they were hungry until just now.
What not to expect:
A schedule. A host who has everything under control.
Anyone arriving exactly on time (including us).
Organised activities, name badges, or any pressure whatsoever to socialise in a way that doesn't suit you.
Bring: something to sit on, something to eat and drink, sunscreen if you remember, a book you probably won't read, and whatever version of yourself turns up on the day. That one is fine.
Getting there: [Map link here.](https://maps.app.goo.gl/m47CfNPgTuKnMtFC6?g_st=ic) Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A. It's a smallish square park. We'll be in it. We will attach a bright coloured blanket to a tree.
Look for the group that seems to be having a good time in a slightly disorganised way.
