Khao Bird (Thai/SoHo)
Join us for a lively London Foodies dinner at **Khao Bird**, a Northern Thai barbecue restaurant in the heart of Soho, serving bold, smoky, spicy dishes designed for sharing.
Khao Bird has quickly become one of London’s most talked-about Thai openings, with critics praising its punchy flavours, fun Soho setting and inventive take on Northern Thai and Burmese-influenced cooking. Time Out describes the vibe as “a rowdy crowd getting stuck into big BBQ flavours,” while Giles Coren in The Times called it “fiery, sexy and absolutely brilliant.”
Expect a sociable, flavour-packed evening with plenty of dishes to share across the table. Popular and much-praised dishes include:
* **Mutton loaded fries** — described by Time Out as a “non-negotiable order” and “a hero dish”
* **Shan BBQ meatballs** — cola-glazed, spicy and one of the standout dishes mentioned by several reviewers
* **Khao soi with barbecued chicken thighs**
* **Prawns KJ / prawn khanon jeen**
* **Onglet steak with white curry**
* **Whole fried seabass**, if available as a special
* **Doughnut bao with ice cream** to finish
Hot Dinners called Khao Bird a “fantastic new Soho gem” and said the food is “excellent throughout,” while Michelin highlights dishes such as the “moreish” prawns and khao soi with barbecued chicken thighs.
This should be a great one for anyone who enjoys Thai food, smoky barbecue flavours, spicy dishes, sharing plates and a buzzy Soho atmosphere.
As always with London Foodies, the idea is simple: good food, good conversation and a relaxed evening with people who enjoy discovering interesting restaurants.
Please only RSVP if you are confident you can attend, as the booking numbers matter for the restaurant.
Please note there will be a £10 deposit payable for this event. As there is a no-show charge of this amount being charged by the restaurant we are doing this to cover any potential cancellations without advance notice. Once you have signed up for the event you will be contacted by the organiser to arrange payment. If payment is not made within 24 hours of the payment request we may have to remove your name from the attendees list.

Hi lovely people! 👋
No walking this time 🤭
We'll have a table booked at this cosy little Uzbek restaurant and enjoy an evening of good food and conversation.
For a while now we've been thinking about introducing an International Food Tasting series. Once a month (alongside our regular bakery crawls and walking meetups), we'll be exploring a different cuisine and discovering flavours from around the world — no plane ticket required ✈️
This time we're starting with Uzbek cuisine 🇺🇿
Often described as one of Central Asia's best-kept culinary secrets, Uzbek food combines influences from East and West to create rich, aromatic and incredibly comforting dishes. Expect *freshly* baked bread, flavourful rice dishes, grilled meats, warming soups and a culture where food is at the heart of bringing people together 🍵✨

**Bookable via our website ➡️** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/intro-to-woodturning-120/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/intro-to-woodturning-120/)
**⋆⋆⋆**
If you have ever seen wood turned on a lathe and been intrigued by the bowls and forms made on it, this one-day workshop will demystify the technique and teach you basic techniques to make a simple bowl and a hardwood barreled pen.
You will be led by expert, Nathan Cardwell who is a passionate woodworker and a patient tutor. When not with us, he teaches woodwork in a London boy’s school. Nathan will introduce the parts of the lathe and explain how to safely secure your work, the methods to use with each chisel and how to sand and finish your projects.
During the day you will learn the ’Headstock method’ to make a small bowl in hardwood and ‘Spindle turning’ to make a wooden tube that fits into a metal pen mechanism.
We will supply everything so come with curiosity and enthusiasm and leave with satisfaction, a bowl and a ready-to-use rollerball pen.
We will also advise you on how to continue this fascinating hobby with guidance on buying your own lathe, tools and timber.

Ramen Rendezvous at Kyuramen (Herndon)!
Join us for a ramen rendezvous and Japanese comfort food at the VERY recently lopened (4/15/26) **Kyuramen** in Herndon!
***FFX Now:***
National ramen chain Kyuramen opened Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 2330 Silver Arrow Way and is currently offering a limited “soft service” menu of the brand’s popular dishes. The opening marks the Kyuramen’s second location in Northern Virginia and first outpost in Fairfax County.
“We saw an opportunity to bring something unique to the Herndon community and look forward to sharing a new experience with our guests, alongside the signature dishes they know and love,” founder Gary Lin told FFXnow.
Later this month, “the restaurant will transition into [an] elevated yet fun concept, debuting new creative menu offerings that build on Kyuramen’s signature approach to Japanese cuisine,” according to a press release.
For now, the opening menu includes items like Tokyo tonkotsu shoyu ramen, with chashu pork, marinated soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, corn, seaweed and scallions, as well as a Korean-inspired kimchi ramen.
These are joined by a “Yin-Yang Bowl,” which offers both tonkotsu shoyu ramen and sapporo miso ramen in one divided dish.
“Beyond ramen, the menu features Japanese comfort food staples such as fluffy omurice served with curry or demi-glace, takoyaki octopus balls, dumplings, steamed bao buns, and other signature dishes reflecting the brand’s broader vision of Japanese comfort cuisine for American diners,” the release reads.
The new restaurant was designed with the brand’s signature “honeycomb-style” private booths, an open kitchen and signature “wishing tree” decor, where guests may write and hang their wishes. It can seat about 130 guests.
Lin founded the chain in New York City in 2014, aiming to make ramen “a more affordable daily cuisine” in the United States, according to previous reporting. In 2022, Lin told Gotham magazine he intended to create “the Starbucks of ramen in the U.S.”
Today, Kyuramen has more than 126 locations worldwide, including over 70 nationwide outposts. The new Herndon restaurant is part of the brand’s expansion into the D.C. area, which so far includes one location in Falls Church in Falls Church that opened last October.

BreadBreakers Community Dinner: Special 250th Anniversary Edition
**In a time of division and isolation, come be part of the community that's rebuilding the town square, one table at a time.**
**This dinner in particular will be very special as we celebrate America's 250th birthday. How better to honor a semiquincentennial of democracy that spending an evening practicing it?**
In BreadBreakers, we use the common space of the dining table to have conversations where neighbors can **hear, be heard, and know one another.** If you're hungry for good conversation and deeper community, join us for a Community Dinner in Reston and help blaze the trail to a healthier, more connected society and democracy.
Here’s how it works: For just two hours, multiple tables of people set aside the need to "win" and instead focus on sharing, listening, and connecting. Guided by experienced table hosts, we'll tell our stories, try to understand each other, and practice being in community with those with different views or backgrounds.
**At this dinner, participants will get to choose between three different topics, including some current events.** Topics range from the political, to the "slice of life", to the spiritual, to the philosophical, to the off-the-wall - but no matter which table you choose to sit at, you can be sure it'll be like no dinner conversation you've had before! You can also **suggest a topic** by emailing us at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com.
Food will be provided for free. For those who wish to provide a donation to help fund BreadBreakers, you can [give here](https://pushpay.com/g/restorationrestonumc?fnd=pO6G-N7oO7FH7Mp1u-x6mA&fndv=Lock&r=No&lang=en&src=pcgl) or at the event.
We'll have vegetarian and gluten-free options available. If you have any additional dietary restrictions (Celiac Disease, vegan, etc.) please let us know at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com so that we can implement the appropriate food handling procedures.
**Join us, invite a friend, and be a part of the movement to mend our fractured society and normalize a better way of talking with one another.**
