Beginner's Swimming Workshop
Dive into the world of swimming with our exciting meetup group! Join us for a beginner-friendly workshop as we cover essential skills and techniques to feel confident swimming. Our experienced instructors will provide tips on breathing, sighting, and navigation to help you conquer any body of water. Don't miss out on this chance to explore the excitement of swimming with our welcoming community of swimmers.
Admission includes a 1 hour swimming lesson, group or individual, depending on your comfort level and ability. All lessons will begin at the start of each hour (i.e. 6 pm, 7 pm). You are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get acquainted, as well as change & set up.
This is a BYOE workshop (Bring Your Own Equipment), so bathing suits, bathing caps, goggles, and ear/nose plugs are your responsibility. All other equipment, such as floatation devices, are available on site.
I will be on site to guide you through the process and answer any questions you might have, as well as collect admission fees. You are welcome to hang back after your lesson to observe (a large viewing gallery above the pool is available, however please be respectful of participants & instructors that are in session). Bruce Peninsula Winter Escape
**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/bruce-2026-winter)**
***Escape into winter’s beauty with a journey to the Grotto, a hiking jewel on the famed Bruce Peninsula.***
The area is full of unique, dramatic landscapes with stark cliffs and views over the enormous Georgian Bay. We'll be tackling a moderately difficult 8.5km hike through some of the most incredible winter scenery this province has to offer.
We'll hike through the forest and along the beach, ending up at the incredible rock formations and crystal clear waters of the Grotto. Here we'll stop for lunch, taking in the incredible views and the untouched snow covering before hiking on to the backcountry Stormhaven Campsite. On the way we'll cross pebble beaches, forest trails and unreal views of Lake Huron before coming back the way we came.
You're strongly recommended to choose transportation for this trip due to the popularity of this location. Self drivers will need to purchase a permit for parking well in advance. Precise instructions are shared in the trip plan received upon registration.
**Depending on snow levels we may be required to use snowshoes or ice spikes. We have a limited quantity available that you can grab at check-out. Ice spikes are free to borrow and snow shoes can be rented for a small fee.**
**Highlights**
**Visit the Grotto:** *Explore Ontario’s most famous natural landmark, where striking limestone cliffs meet crystal-clear turquoise waters.*
**Hike Pebble Beaches:** *Walk across rugged, snow-dusted lake shores and forested trails that lead to the remote Stormhaven backcountry campsite.*
**Views of Georgian Bay:** *Take in sweeping panoramas of cliffs and open water, with the quiet snowy solitude adding extra drama to this mesmerizing landscape.*
**Event cost: $70+HST - optional transport available.**
