Talks:
* **[Seija Sirkiä](https://www.linkedin.com/in/seija/)**: *NPS - Not Proper (data) Science?*
Everybody agrees that Net Promoter Score is not quite as magical as it's made to sound like, but there's still plenty you can do with that data. In this talk I will show what I learned about that while working at HappySignals, including a model that cleans the scores of subgroup effects, such as culture/country.
* **[Touko Väänänen](https://www.linkedin.com/in/touko-v%C3%A4%C3%A4n%C3%A4nen-89150114a)**: *Choosing projects under uncertain preferences for impacts*
Many choice situations involve choosing a subset of possible projects with several types of impacts. Choosing between the projects introduces trade-offs between the impacts that decision makers disagree about. I present a framework which helps in assessing robust projects that would be chosen with many preferences over the impacts.
* **[Alexander Kevin Gilbert](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexander-kevin-gilbert-2449b5237/)**: *Learning Data Engineering (not) from scratch*
A PhD in physics and big data analysis experience at CERN might seem irrelevant when applying for a data engineering job, as the tools are completely different. But the two worlds are more connected than they appear. Join me as I explore those connections and share what I've learned along the way.

What Do We Owe Animals?
Most people agree that causing unnecessary suffering to animals is wrong. But beyond that, there is surprisingly little agreement.
Do animals have rights, or only interests that humans should consider? Is it acceptable to eat animals? Use them in medical research? Keep them as pets? What, if anything, gives humans a higher moral status than other animals?
Among other questions, we will consider:
* Why is it wrong to kick a dog for fun?
* If a trait gives humans a higher moral status than animals, what should we say about humans who lack that trait?
* Should we intervene in nature to reduce animal suffering, or should we leave nature alone?
* Is the capacity to suffer enough for moral consideration?
* Would it be wrong to painlessly kill an animal that had a good life?
* Do we owe more to our pets than to wild animals?
Join us for an open and respectful discussion of one of the most enduring and challenging questions in ethics: what do we owe animals?

**Upcoming Dates: 5/1, 5/29, 6/26, 7/24, 8/28, 9/25, 10/23, 11/27, 12/18**
A monthly healing space where we gather to tend the pieces of ourselves and weave them back into wholeness that we are. Each session opens with a Soulbits oracle image setting the tone for the gathering we will move through. We will come together to honor the natural rhythms of rooting, rising, releasing, and receiving; the cycles that shape the soul’s journey.
Through the four pillars of being: mindset, movement, connection & nourishment, we will create a space where imagery, sensation, and community weave together. Where the body becomes the guide, images act as mirrors, and the soul speaks. This circle is about noticing what rises, honoring what’s true, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself ready to be seen.
This is a space to gather your scattered pieces, soften your body, and return to your truth with community by your side. Soulbits Circle is a reminder that every fragment of your story, every soulbit, belongs. Together we weave them into the blooming wholeness that you are.
*Energy Exchange: 1-group $20-40 or 6-group $115*
