Stammtisch @ FLAX
**The Stammtisch will be at “FLAX”** in Prenzlauer Berg.
We don't have an agenda for this event. Instead, it's just an opportunity to meet other members in a nice social atmosphere, and to take a mid-week break. We try to watch out for new people, but if no one greets you, please just ask someone. We're quite a large group, so usually make up most of the people at the Bar. Don't be shy, we're a friendly group!
This event repeats every two weeks.

**Our website**: [Kenjutsu Berlin - Official school of Katori Shinto-ryu in Berlin (katoriberlin.org)](https://katoriberlin.org/)
**Katori Shintō-ryū** is one of the oldest Japanese sword fighting traditions (koryū) still practised today and is recognized by the Japanese government as a cultural intangeable asset. The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingū) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history.
The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects.
**The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha.
**Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

Hike from Lübben (Spreewald) to Schlepzig
Join us for our second hike of the summer!
We will start by meeting at (or at least boarding) the **10.40 RE2 (3112)** at **Ostkreuz** station, **Platform 1**. We will arrive at Lübben (Spreewald) at 11.25. *Note that if you miss this train, then the next one does not arrive until 11.56, so you will certainly miss us and won't be able to catch up!*
The hike will go from Lübben to Schlepzig, along the canals and lakes of the beautiful Spreewald region. *(See photos for a rough route -- this is not necessarily accurate!)*
The walk will be about 15 km and take about 4-5 hours.
Bring lunch, snacks & water, comfortable walking shoes, and maybe even some sunglasses. We will stop a couple of places along the way, but will not stop long enough to order food, so bring your lunch!
At the end of the walk, in Schlepzig, there is a Whisky brewery and a Biergarten. We will visit one or both. You can also get food at both.
Then, we will take the 18:57 bus back to the starting point of Lübben Bahnhof. From there, we will catch the 19.34 RE2 (3129) back to Ostkreuz, arriving at 20.23.
*(If you really want to, and if we get to Schlepzig in time, then you can also take the 16.52 bus to Lübben, then the 17.34 RE2 back to Berlin.)*
**Note: We will reschedule this if the weather is too rainy. So definitely check back here before going!**

ENGLISH
The Nudes of Istanbul is a group exhibition and accompanying English-language photobook presenting a fourteen-year collective fine-art nude photography practice developed in Istanbul and brought into public view in Berlin.
Curated by Berlin-based photographer and curator Burak Bulut Yıldırım, the project brings together 14 Turkish photographers selected from a sustained curator-directed studio practice in Istanbul. Five of the participating photographers are women. The accompanying book includes texts by three model-authors writing from inside the practice: Zeynep Renda, Su Yeşil and Marmelat.
The works were made in Istanbul over the last fourteen years through real bodies, real light, constructed sets, physical materials, model presence and explicit consent. The exhibition is not presented as a general exhibition about Turkey, but as a public record of a long-term collective photographic practice from Istanbul.

**Running K8s with AI: Automating** **the SRE Lifecycle with Grafana MCP and GitLab**
What does it look like to run 30+ microservices, 8 databases, and a Kafka cluster almost entirely through AI agents? This talk walks through a practical demo of automating the full SRE lifecycle: from incident investigation to deployment validation, using Grafana MCP and the GitLab Agent Platform, and where humans still need to stay in the loop.
*Serhii Vasylenko*
**The Pipeline Was Green — AI Agents and CI Trust**
We’ve spent years building CI/CD pipelines that tell us when code is "technically correct," but are they capable of telling an autonomous AI agent if a change is safe to apply? This talk explores a real-world incident where an AI-powered automation -- pairing Renovate with Claude Code -- successfully executed a "green" pipeline that broke a critical QA cluster for three days, how the team reacted, and how we evolved our vision toward the future of human-agentic collaboration with code.
*Frithjof Hoffmann*
**Managing Uninvited Guests: Securing Open Source Dependencies**
Open source software is the ultimate neighborhood party, but what happens when an uninvited guest slips through the door? This talk digs into the messy reality of dependency hell and its role in software supply chain security: from typosquatting attacks to maintainer account takeovers, and the abandoned projects with known CVEs quietly living in your codebase rent-free.
Women’s Book Club: Childhood, Youth, Dependency (Trilogy) by Tove Ditlevsen
This week we are discussing **Tove Ditlevsen:** Childhood, Youth, Dependency (The whole trilogy).
We look forward to seeing you!

Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on.
That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable.
In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork.
This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it.
We’ll cover:
* Why “it looks good” is not enough
* How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints
* How to compare LLM outputs more systematically
* Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness
* How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results
* Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop
By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
