Vibe Sanctuary | Journey Across Waterfalls of Angola
On the coast of West Africa to the north of Namibia along the Atlantic Ocean, packed with diamonds, and oil, spread across green savannahs, tropical jungles, and coastal deserts, beating to the rhythms of semba, rivet, and kizomba, and **thundering waterfalls from Luanda to Cabo Ledo**, **Angola is where the bold go to dance and seekers of adventure find the final frontier of African discovery!**

With only Portugal and Brazil having more Portuguese speakers, Angola’s capital is like taking a walk down the streets of Lisbon with the beats of Brazil around every corner café and the Fortaleza de Miguel and the Iron Palace to remind you of a colonial legacy dating to the 16th century.
One of the **largest waterfalls in Africa**, fed by the Cassoco Hills and the Catumbela and Lucala Rivers at the, the Kalandula Falls drop 105 meters down with **570m3/s of water** raging over the rocks. We’ll earn our views from above and below, getting sprayed at the foot of the falls and taking in the enormity of the drop from the trails above.
The Black Rocks of Pungo Andongo, a mystical place full of myths and legends, according to the locals this was once the capital of the Kingdom of Ndongo, with the footprints of her monarch Queen Ginga, carved into the rocks. These **extensive monolithic formations, millions of years old**, jut out of the savannah in black towers, with the commune of Pungo-Andongo all that remains of this ancient kingdom and the ruins of the Fortress of Pungo-Angongo from the days of Portuguese colonialism still haunting this mysterious place.
With Kuduro, Kizomba, Semba, and Tarrachinha beats from the high savannahs to the beaches of Cabo Ledo, Angolan safari in Kissama, and **rapids and waterfalls along raging rivers all the way to the Atlantic, it’s a little Brazil, a dash of Portugal,** **and a lot of African Angola!**
**Let’s go!!**
**Day 1 // Arrival to Luanda**
After arrival and immigration formalities, check in to hotel before looking around Luanda, one of the oldest Portuguese colonial cities in Africa! We’ll pass by a few monuments and other curiosities before we head to hotel for check-in, dinner, and rest.
**Day 2 // Malanje and Kalandula Falls**
After early breakfast of fuba bread and funge, we’ll hit the road to small community of Cacuso before we reach Malanje and nearby Kallandula Falls. We’ll check-in to hotel and take a quick break before heading to the foot of the falls and few other viewpoints. We’ll finish the day at sunset with dinner view of the falls!
**Day 3 // Pedras Negras do Pungo Andongo**
With the sound of the falls as our alarm clock, we’ll get up for early breakfast and head to the Black Rocks at Pungo Andongo, millions of years in the making and spread over the wide savannahs of western Angola, we’ll explore these mesmerizing formations before lunch and then onwards to Musseleje Falls, a rare sight as it’s rather difficult to access. After a few treks and trails, we’ll head back to hotel for dinner and rest.
**Day 4 // Sumbe to Cabo Ledo**
After breakfast and check-out, we hit the road to Sumbe, along the way we’ll explore the rapids of Binga Falls and stop at few villages nearby. Visit Kumbira Forest reserve community and continue to spectacular Sassa Cave. We’ll reach Cabo Ledo beach resort a the time for sunset.
**Day 5 // Kissama Park to Mussulo**
We make an early start to Kissama National Park for safari across Baobab savannah! We’ll take quick boat trip before lunch in Calumbo, a destination for many pilgrims. We’ll continue on to Mussulo island for yet another sunset on the beach and check-in to hotel for dinner and rest.
**Day 6 // Mussulo Island**
Today we ll take a relaxing boat trip to explore this wonderful, tropical island, followed by visit in iconic Kazunga Church and Flamigo Bay. Accomodation at Mussulo Beach Resort.
**Day 7 // Moon Rocks + Ships Graveyard - Departure**
We’ll make a quick stop at Moon Rocks view point with short walk inside, followed by famous Ships Graveyard and last minute souvenirs before transfer to airport for flight home.

**Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎**
**Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.**
**The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌**
**📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?**
**Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the** [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CdjwVxcf2EO6vcLWUhaIdk?mode=ems_copy_c)**, along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.**
**General Meeting Agenda**
**Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline:**
* **3:30-3:45- People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the official start.**
* **3:45-3:55 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines.**
* **3:55-5:20 - Participants share their general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them.**
* **5:20-5:30 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions, organizer then concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo.**
* **5:30 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other.**

* **Do I need to study or read anything to attend?**
**No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required.**
* **Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?**
**The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school.**
* **Is it mostly men that attend?**
**Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms.**
* **Can I come alone?**
**Of course you can, we encourage it :)**
* **Can I be late?**
**Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation.**

Drunken Philosophy: Are you really who you think you are? What is the "self"?
I have been studying the question of "self" online with Prof. Ellie Anderson and so I thought a prompt on the "self" might be interesting. Full confession: I had Claude create this prompt and I like it, so here goes:
Imagine a thought experiment that merges two classic puzzles:
> You undergo a procedure, performed neuron by neuron, in which every biological component of your brain is replaced with a functionally identical synthetic substitute. At each step, your behavior, memories, and personality remain unchanged. When the last neuron is swapped, is the consciousness experiencing the world still you? And — more pressingly — was there ever a continuous "you" to begin with?
### Questions to Wrestle With
* If consciousness is purely physical, does the *gradual* nature of the replacement matter, or is it equivalent to being destroyed and rebuilt?
* Could there be a "self" without continuity of experience — even moment to moment, while you sleep?
On a more practical level, consider the simpler case first: **hemispherectomy** patients — people who have had an entire cerebral hemisphere surgically removed — often retain a strong sense of personal identity and continuity. This suggests "you" are not rigidly tied to specific physical material. But does that vindicate the synthetic neuron case, or merely show that identity is more *flexible* than we thought — not that it can survive *complete* substrate replacement?
