**Time: 19:30-21:15** **Venue**: **Oscailt**, **8 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4**. See map and directions [here](https://oscailt.com/contact/). The schedule consists of meditation (first 15 minutes guided, then 25 minutes non-guided), recorded Dhamma talk (30 minutes) and a discussion based on the Dhamma talk. This session is for the sake of cultivating spiritual friendship amongst practitioners and supporting each other on the Path. There is **no registration** \- this event operates on a drop\-in basis\. There is **no charge**, donations are welcome to cover the place. Please bring a bottle of water along as there will be no tea/snack breaks to allow more time for practice. You may wish to bring a blanket if it is cold. Meditation cushions/chairs will be provided. Guided Tour Of Leixlip Castle & Gardens. Date: 12th of June Tour start time 12:15pm, please be at the front gates from 11:50am-12.05pm where I will collect €10 per person. Do not go up to the castle if early please. The guided tour starts at 12.15pm and finishes at 1.20pm. Please be on time. This is an enchanting tour. It is my favourite place of all the Meet-ups I have organised to date. The garden is amazing. We will see it after the Castle tour. Public Transport: The following bus numbers go to Main Street, Leixlip: 52, C2,C3 C2 and C3 stop on Pearse Street. On getting off the bus, go straight on where you see a yellow house (landmark) at the top of the road, take a sharp left. We will meet at the entrance gates of the castle Leixlip Castle was built around 1172 by the Norman Knight Adam de Hereford. This castle is one of Ireland's oldest continuously inhabited buildings. Perched above the River Liffey and the Rye Water in County Kildare, the castle has served as a royal hunting base, a fortress, and the 20th-century epicenter of Ireland's architectural heritage revival. It has passed through many hands and has been in the ownership of the late Mr. Desmond Guinness and his family since 1958. Among the many aspects of the castle that will be shown to visitors is the large 18th Century Dolls House, Drawings of the Mitford sisters and 17th Century Brussels tapestry depicting Theodotus offering the head of Pompey to Caesar. It is a fifteen minute walk from the main street to the castle. It is a twenty minute walk from the train station to the castle. Drivers: Free parking at Our Lady’s’ Nativity Church in the town. Please note: Drivers must take the responsibility for their own cars, It is not part of my role to provide car parking spaces or advise you where to park for any of the meetups you attend. It's up to you to check the location several days in advance re road works and on road parking facilities. We will be going for a cuppa in the village afterwards, this is optional. Everyone is responsible for their own Health & Safety at Meetups. Please take note if you have mobility issues, there are a lot of narrow stairwells in the castle. The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen. Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have. We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too. Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best. We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you. Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop). You are very welcome to our dojo!

The emotional pain from past bad experiences easily lingers in the present, making it hard to enjoy life and create your future. Even when you think you've moved on, the negative emotions can be triggered, sending you back into the pain of that experience. And we are talking about pain; emotions such as grief, depression, anxiety, fear (or terror), boiling anger, simmering resentment, feelings of shame, blaming and regret can leave you incapacitated to a greater or lesser degree. In this local event we will be discussing the reasons why these past bad experiences have the power to affect you long after they occurred. We'll go over why the emotional pain can be so strong. We'll also discuss some simple solutions to overcome your emotional pain and be free to fully enjoy your life again. Examples of painful experiences include: * A broken relationship or divorce. * Death or loss of a loved one. * Death of a pet. * A sudden shock or bad news. * A betrayal. * Being part of an abusive relationship. * A bad injustice. * Loss of a job, position or business. * A grave illness or injury. The negative emotions from these experiences don't just go away on their own. But the good news is there is a way to clear them out of your way.
