Layoffs, longer job searches, and rapid shifts driven by AI are leaving many professionals wondering about their next move. In this interactive AMA session, Valentina Scipione will answer your questions about careers in tech. Bring anything you have been wondering about, for example: * navigating the current job market * what hiring managers actually look for * career transitions within tech * job search strategy * how AI may reshape roles in data and engineering No slides. Just your questions and an open conversation. **Speaker:** Valentina Scipione **Bio:** Valentina Scipione is a Career and Leadership Coach, Engineering Manager, and hiring manager with a background in Astrophysics and more than a decade of experience in software engineering and quality. Based in Berlin and co-organiser of the PyData Berlin community, she brings together leadership experience and professional coaching to help tech professionals build more fulfilling careers with strategy, not autopilot. **Talk 2: Solving real life problems with basic Python** **Abstract:** 2 years ago I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting an amazing person who invited me to join the Python en Español community. This community is mainly aimed at people who have 0 to no knowledge about the language and they want to learn. The recurring problem for many of these practitioner is to find good real life examples to practice their skills. Did you know that you can solve 90% of business problems with only prints and inputs? well, maybe that was a lie but not far off from the truth. In this talk I want to guide you on how you can solve a real life case scenario of a business wanting to adjust the prices of their articles base on real time demand. Starting with a few variables an input and a print and slowly grow into a real time system consuming from different sources, to answer the hardest question there is. Was it worth it? or should we have stopped at reading from files 7 iterations ago? **Speaker:** Eric Rishmüller **Bio:** Eric works as a Lead Data Engineer at Thomann Musikhaus. He has been living in Berlin for the past five years and is originally from Argentina. Eric started sharing his passion for Python seven years ago and is quite active in Spanish-speaking Python communities. **Lightning talks** There will be slots for 2-3 Lightning Talks (3-5 Minutes for each). Kindly let us know if you would like to present something at the start of the meetup :) \*\*\* NumFOCUS **Code of Conduct** THE SHORT VERSION Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down others. The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingū) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history. The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.
BitDevs Bitcoin Socratic Seminar Berlin
BitDevs Bitcoin Socratic Seminar Berlin
**BitDevs Bitcoin Socratic Seminar Berlin @ c-base Raumstation** Join us for our monthly interactive **[Bitcoin Socratic Seminar](https://bitdevs.berlin)** in Berlin! We’ll start with pizza and beer (sponsored by [Ordimint.com](https://ordimint.com)), followed by deep-dive discussions on the most interesting *technical* developments in Bitcoin from the past month. Participation by everyone is highly encouraged! Our goal is to foster lively discussion, knowledge sharing, and debate. In the weeks leading up to the event, participants gather topics such as: * New research papers * New BIPs and BOLTs * Network statistics * Technical blog posts * Mailing list and Delving Bitcoin threads * Pull requests and updates from key repos (Bitcoin Core, LND, Core Lightning, Eclair, BDK, rust-bitcoin, LDK, Electrum, …) Each topic is briefly introduced by our moderators and then discussed before moving on. The full list of links will be published at [bitdevs.berlin](https://bitdevs.berlin) 1–2 days before the event — please review them in advance to get the most out of the discussion. **Important details:** * This event is highly technical — best suited for those with a solid grasp of Bitcoin internals. Curious newcomers are always very welcome, but expect in-depth conversations (see the former topics at [bitdevs.berlin](https://bitdevs.berlin)). * Chatham House Rule applies: you may share what was discussed, but not who said it. No livestream, no photos, no recordings. * The evening begins with food and networking; people often stay after the seminar to keep talking. **Co-hosted by:** * [Felix](https://x.com/FelixWeis) * [Freerk](https://x.com/freerko) * [Fabian](https://x.com/fjahr) For background on the idea of BitDevs Socratic Seminars, see [this article](https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/op-ed-want-to-learn-about-bitcoin-try-a-local-socratic-seminar).
Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Hello! I’m organising a coworking + socialising session for all of us who are working on projects (e.g. our own creations, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. 🙂 To ensure that we have time for both socialising AND working, we will be using the so-called “Pomodoro” technique: **50 mins deep work** (silent), followed by **10 mins break** to socialise. And then repeat! You are welcome to join whatever your personal background is, and whatever project you are working on. I (the host) speak English and German, so either language is fine. ——————————————————- AGENDA: * **Short Intro** Tell us who you are and share something about what you will be working on today * **Pomodoro Session** \- 3x \(3h\) Each Pomodoro session consists of 50 mins focused “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, **phones on silent mode**) -> then 10 mins break: a chance to share your progress with others -> Repeat * **15 mins Wrap Up** Celebrate what you achieved and get to know others 😊 ———— The location is **Espresso House near Checkpoint Charlie** (they have multiple outlets - so be sure to go to the correct one!) Wifi + power plugs are available - but best to bring a fully charged laptop, just in case 🙃 You **do not** have to pay anything. But since we are using the café space, it is common courtesy to buy at least one drink (coffee costs roughly **4 Euros**).

*This event is a collaboration with our friends from Domain Driven Design Berlin, check out their Meetup page [here](https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/domain-driven-design-berlin/) and sign up there!* \-\-\-\-\- **About the evening** He's back! The inventor of EventStorming is once again joining the Berlin Collaborative Modeling Meetup for an evening of massive learning, massive laughter, and no doubt a massive number of sticky notes. This is a rare opportunity to spend time with a true thought leader in the DDD community and the person who contributed to the world the whole premise of our meetup. He's full of insights and stories, wit and wisdom, and we are lucky to have him drop by to share them with us. Don't miss this one! **Please do not RSVP if you do not intend to come. For this event only, we have to limit attendance.** As always, everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a software engineer to participate. In fact, it would be great to have more people who aren't software engineers. We're here to solve problems cross-functionally, not get into implementation details. As long as you care passionately about getting things right, then you belong here! This is a hands-on workshop. Be prepared to participate fully and add to the energy of the room. Looking forward to seeing you there! **RSVPS:** **Please sing up on the event page from [Domain Driven Design Berlin](https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/domain-driven-design-berlin/)!** \-\-\-\-\-\- **Code of Conduct** We adhere to the [Berlin Code of Conduct](https://berlincodeofconduct.org/) to ensure a welcoming and respectful environment for all participants. Breathe Free - Consious Breathwork Session in Berlin
Breathe Free - Consious Breathwork Session in Berlin
\#\#\# Was ist Breathwork? Conscious Breathwork bedeutet bewusstes atmen. 12MIN.ME | BERLIN | STARTUP #1.2 🚀
12MIN.ME | BERLIN | STARTUP #1.2 🚀
**🚨🚨🚨 ATTENTION: we moved to luma. please RVSP [HERE](https://luma.com/12min.me_Berlin)🚨🚨🚨** # [12min.me](https://12min.me/) START UP is a brand new morning format for bold ideas and fresh perspectives Berlin Startup Community, we’re launching something new. Together with betahaus, we’re bringing the [12min.me](http://12min.me/) spirit into the morning. [12min.me](http://12min.me/) STARTUP is a three-part breakfast series, embedded in the well-known betabreakfast format. Instead of three speakers in one evening, we do things differently. One morning. One speaker. One focused impulse. 12 minutes. One voice. Zero fluff. Join us for the first edition of [12min.me](http://12min.me/) STARTUP, a compact morning session for founders, operators, creatives and everyone building things that matter. **✔️ What to expect** * One inspiring startup-related talk * 12 minutes of sharp insight * Curated exchange over breakfast * The familiar [12min.me](http://12min.me/) energy, just earlier in the day# 🚀 **The formula stays the same** * 12 minutes talk * 12 minutes of Q&A * 12 minutes of networking The familiar [12min.me](http://12min.me/) energy, just earlier in the day **🎤 Our speakers** **Speaker 1 @March 5** **[Jonathan Hegel](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-beisiegel) from [FW Systems](https://www.linkedin.com/company/frachtwerk/)** Jonathan is the CEO of FW Systems, a specialized system house for open source solutions and IT services with a fixed-price model. After years in traditional IT, where he regularly had to work night shifts due to emergencies, he decided to do things better—for customers and for IT professionals. Today, he help SMEs transform their IT from a constant work in progress to a reliable infrastructure they can depend on. **Jonathan\`s talk: "How we are completely rethinking system administration as a service for your company"** Companies cannot possibly do everything themselves. So things like accounting, logistics, and IT are outsourced to external service providers. In the IT sector, system houses have been doing very well for themselves in recent decades! Every little thing is charged for, and if there are any errors, the customer is expected to open a ticket. We are rethinking this! We are applying the “as-a-service” concept from Airbnb, Uber, and Everstox to system administration and taking responsibility. Jonathan will show how this works in his talk. **Speaker 2 @March 12** **[Anne Biedermann](https://www.linkedin.com/in/anne-biedermann/), independent wealth partner for women** Anne has extensive experience across venture capital, single-family-office & HNWI investing, and early-stage operations. She works with investors who are building, inheriting, or stewarding wealth on how to allocate capital with clarity — particularly where venture capital intersects with long-term wealth strategy. Anne also invests personally, giving her a practitioner’s perspective on capital allocation decisions. **Anna\`s talk: "Not All Capital Is the Same: Decoding Investor Behavior"** Founders often assume all investors evaluate risk, timelines, and returns the same way and that assumption is costly. This session breaks down how funds, family offices, and individual investors actually make decisions, where founder–investor misalignment typically begins, and how founders can better position themselves for the right kind of capital, not just any capital. **Speaker 3 @March 19** **[Immo Ait Stapelfeld](https://www.linkedin.com/in/immoaitstapelfeld/), Co-Founder & CEO at [913.ai](https://913.ai)** **"From Legal Complexity to Practical AI. How We Help Regulated Industries Use AI Without Losing Control"** This presentation tells the story of Immo’s transition from a trained lawyer working in mass proceedings to an entrepreneur building AI products for regulated industries. His legal background, combined with hands-on experience as a founder, shaped a pragmatic view on AI. not as a disruptive replacement, but as a controlled and compliant tool. At[ ](http://913.ai)[913.ai](https://913.ai), this perspective enables conservative organizations such as insurers to enter the AI era in a way that respects regulation, responsibility, and existing teams while still unlocking real efficiency gains. 📅 **The series at a glance** [12min.me](http://12min.me/) STARTUP consists of three independent sessions. Please follow the luma link for registration: * [March 5, 2025](https://luma.com/yo32qaud) * [March 12, 2025](https://luma.com/y0wytmck) * [March 19, 2025](https://luma.com/cucrx8is) Each session has its own Luma page and can be attended individually. 📍**Event details for the whole series** * **Location**: betahaus Kreuzberg, Rudi-Dutschke-Straße 23, 10969 Berlin * **Time**: Doors open 9:30, Start 10:00, End 11:00 * **Entry**: Free entry including breakfast and drinks * **RSVP:** via [Lu.ma](http://lu.ma/) to save your spot as spots are limited **Why mornings** Because good ideas don’t only happen after work. LM: Off the Beaten Track in SNP (Oventop)
LM: Off the Beaten Track in SNP (Oventop)
Time for something different! This is a repeat of a trip we did in 2019 to explore one of Shenandoah’s many bushwhacks. This one will lead us to Oventop, which should yield great views of the park and the surrounding valley. The credit for this trip goes to Russ Evans, a long-time DC UL member, who was incredibly knowledgeable about these abandoned trails and shared that knowledge. We wanted to do something in tribute to him--so join us for what should be a nice outing. (You can read the original trip report [here](https://dculbackpacking.com/2019/03/11/a-thru-hiker-a-family-and-dc-ul-walk-into-a-shelter-oventop-snp-trip-report/).) The overall distance is short (I think 15 miles in total for the trip), but bushwhacking can be slow and difficult -- you'll want to be comfortable with doing an off-trail route. The plan: gather at Vienna at 8:30 a.m. and head out. We’ll drop off cars at the Buck Hollow trailhead along 211 and then proceed to the Pass Mountain trailhead. We'll make our way along Pass Mountain and depart the main trail to head towards Oventop. We'll aim to keep the group close for this section, as this is our off-trail portion of the trip. We'll enjoy the views and then make our way back to Pass Mountain trail. We'll follow it up to the AT--our home away from home will be the Pass Mountain Hut for Saturday night. Sunday, we'll hop on the AT and take it south up and over Mary's Rock. From there, we'll take Meadow Spring to either the Buck Hollow or the Buck Ridge trails and follow that back to the cars. Weather-wise, anticipate cold conditions—it’s March, so we could see anything from sun to snow up in Shenandoah. I'll update with the forecast closer to the trip. We’ll have GPS tracks for the trip--look for those to be shared closer to the trip. Group size is limited to 10. The Fine Print \- Total round\-trip distance is roughly 140 miles\. Per DC UL recommended guidelines of about $0\.10 per mile\, expect to chip in about $14 to your driver if you're catching a ride\. \- Members and above\, don't forget to pay your annual dues\. MO: “Our Neighborhood” (Shenandoahs; Thornton + Gravel Springs Gaps) (36 miles)
MO: “Our Neighborhood” (Shenandoahs; Thornton + Gravel Springs Gaps) (36 miles)
UPDATE: Here is the CalTopo track (thanks, Vinay!): https://caltopo.com/m/PD2AAFC/SSC7R007HN4A781U Let’s just stay in the “neighborhood” next month. I considered backpacking another segment of West Virginia’s Allegheny Trail, but it is too far to drive and set up a shuttle for an ordinary weekend. I’ll save it for Memorial Day weekend in May. But don’t let the “neighborhood" tag fool you. This 36 mile loop features 3,700 feet of climbing Saturday and 2,400 Sunday. If you’ve been getting soft during these cold winter weeks, you’ll feel this one! (I’ve given this trip the “neighborhood” title because it is in our “backyard” and because it goes over Neighbor Mountain. Ok. I’ve had funnier trip titles . . .) **FRIDAY**: We’ll meet at the Vienna Metro at 5:00 p.m. to park at Thornton Gap. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1wd8gzfJnYSXh2v87DC We’ll hike 1.5 miles north on the Appalachian Trail to camp at the Pass Mtn. Hut. It will be 1.5 miles. **SATURDAY**: We’ll hike north on the AT, turn left on the Neighbor Mtn Trail, turn right on the Jeremy’s Run Trail back to the AT, continuing north to the Gravel Springs Hut. It will be 22 miles. **SUNDAY:** We’ll hike south on the AT to Keyser Run Rd to Pole Link Bridge Trail to Piney Branch Trail to Hull School Trail to Rocky Branch Trail back to the AT south to Thornton Gap. It will be 15 miles. **DC ULers have maps!:** https://store.avenza.com/products/shenandoah-national-park-north-district-patc-map-9-edition-20-potomac-appalachian-trail-club-inc-map?queryID=undefined&objectID=44993907359900 I can also email you a .gpx track if you request. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-**THE IMPORTANT WARNINGS**\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- I’m just a co-participant on this trip, not a guide or an expert. I’ve been hiking with DCUL since 2017 but have no special training, such as organizational, medical, or navigational.
You are officially on the trip if you both RSVP on Meetup, we engage by email, text, or the app, and you meet me at the Metro. Otherwise, you are doing your own trip until you make physical contact with me and I recognize you as a co-participant. I’m open to questions. By RSVPing to this trip or any other DCUL trip, you agree to these guidelines and to DCUL's waiver liability terms (https://dculbackpacking.com/about/liability-waiver/) COVID-19 policy: https://dculbackpacking.com/about/covid-19-guidelines/ Dues: Members and above, don't forget to pay your annual dues. DC Service Jam 2026
DC Service Jam 2026
**DC Service Jam is back.** This March, SD:DC is hosting the DC edition of Global Service Jam 2026 week. We are part of a worldwide movement of designers, strategists, and curious minds who come together to build real service concepts from scratch. From **Saturday March 14 to Sunday March 15**, you'll work in a small team around a secret theme revealed at kick-off. No briefs, no client. Just hands-on design, rapid prototyping, and plenty of Post-its. This year we're bringing AI into the mix. Throughout the weekend we'll look at how AI tools can support service design work, as a sensemaking tool, to build artifacts faster, and to push prototypes further. **WHAT TO EXPECT** **Saturday March 14th** * **9 - 10am:** social / breakfast (theme reveal + team formation) * **10am - 6pm:** full day of research, ideation, and prototyping (meals provided) * **6:30pm (optional):** social / happy hour (nearby bar) **Sunday March 15th** * **9 - 10am:** social / breakfast * **10am - 12pm:** finalize prototyping & storytelling * **12pm - 2pm:** present your work and share what DC made with the world **WHO SHOULD COME** You don't need to be a service designer. If you're a UX or product designer, strategist, public servant, researcher, or just someone curious about how services actually work, you're welcome here. **LOGISTICS** * **Dates:** Saturday March 14th & Sunday 15th (ending at 2pm) * **Venue:** SteamPunk, McLean, VA * **Capacity:** 50 spots only (first come, first served) * **Attendee fee:** $60\* (covers meals, materials, and space) *\* If the fee is a barrier for you, we have a limited number of discounted tickets available, just reach out to Sergio Venegas directly for a code.* **WHAT TO BRING** ✔️ An open mind and a willingness to make things ✔️ Laptop and charger ✔️ Curiosity about Service Design (no experience needed) **Follow SD:DC on LinkedIn and @DCServiceJam on Instagram for updates!** \*\*\* Many thanks to our host and sponsor, **SteamPunk** *Design.
