Bridging the Implementation Gap in AI for Stroke Interventions
Bridging the Implementation Gap in AI for Stroke Interventions
**Join us for our next Machine Learning in Healthcare meetup in Berlin — proudly sponsored by the QUEST Centre!** Pizza is still back! We are very happy to announce our speaker **Frank te Nijenhuis**, who is a PhD candidate at the ICAI Stroke Lab at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. With a background in medicine and computer science, he develops deep‑learning models to support real‑time clinical decision-making during stroke treatment. **His talk´s title is:** **Bridging the Implementation Gap in AI for Stroke Interventions: Challenges and Opportunities** **Abstract:** In recent years, rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have led to a proliferation of AI models in medical imaging. However, despite promising performance in research settings, many of these models have yet to translate into meaningful clinical impact. In this talk, Frank will highlight several AI models developed for stroke imaging and examine the barriers that hinder their implementation in clinical practice. He will explore potential pathways to overcome these challenges and conclude with an interactive discussion on co-creation as a strategy to bridge the gap between innovation and real-world adoption. *** 📍 **Location:** “Atrium” conference room, 5th floor, Spreepalais, Anna-Louisa-Karsch-Straße 2, 10178 Berlin 🕕 **Doors open at 6:00 pm** — Talks start **at 7:00 pm!** * 6:00–7:00 pm — Arrival, food, and networking * 7:00 pm — Welcome by the hosts, followed by the talk + Q&A * 8:00 pm — More networking (and possibly more pizza) ⚠️ *Pro tip:* Sometimes only one of the four elevators is working! 📢 **IMPORTANT:** If you RSVP but later realize you can’t make it, *please release your spot* so others can join. *** This meetup is made possible with the kind support of the **QUEST Centre for Responsible Research at BIH**, who are providing both the venue and the delicious refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there!x

Berlin Color Hunt Photo Challenge
Berlin Color Hunt Photo Challenge
Hello challengers, For those who missed last month’s incredibly popular Trend Color Hunt Challenge, I’ll be hosting the workshop again due to high demand. In this workshop, we’ll go beyond simply taking photos, we’ll train your eye to see color with intention and use it as a powerful storytelling tool. Instead of focusing on subjects alone, this challenge invites you to explore Berlin through a single lens: **color**. You’ll be split into small groups and assigned a specific color. Your mission is to hunt for it, frame it, and bring it to life through a series of images. By the end, each group will become the storyteller of their color across the city. Along the way, you’ll learn how to use color not just as an aesthetic, but as a way to guide attention, create emotion, and build stronger compositions. Learn to see, compose, and tell stories through color using contrast, simplicity, and creative interpretation. 🧠 **How the Challenge Works** * You’ll be split into groups of **2–3 people** * Each group is assigned **one color** * You’ll have **\~60 minutes** to explore and shoot * Your goal: capture a small series of images that represent your color in Berlin **A Social Experience** As much as this is a photography group, it’s about connection and community. Within your group, you’ll collaborate, explore, and share perspectives. Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, this is a space to meet creatives that can learn from each other. 🎒 **What to Bring** • Your Camera – DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphones are allowed • Comfortable Clothing – We’ll be walking and exploring • Curiosity and open mindedness – Be ready to observe differently and go out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself! I’ll also compile the results into curated series like: **“Berlin in Red” \| “Berlin in Green” \| “Berlin in Blue”** Selected photos will be featured on our Instagram community. 💸 **Cost** **€10** – collected after the session or pre-pay via PayPal to secure your spot. Maximum limit of 55 participants. 🌱 **Why Join?** ✅ Experience Berlin in a completely new way ✅ Learn how to use color as a storytelling tool ✅ Build confidence shooting in real environments ✅ Meet and connect with creatives in Berlin ✅ Get featured in our growing photography community 🎁 **Exclusive Benefits for Donors** • Private WhatsApp Group Access • Instagram Features • Personalized Feedback • Bonus Meetups • Resource Library (tips, recaps, guides) 📷 WhatsApp Group: [https://chat.whatsapp.com/LxEb41NmxyK4oRJeM9o2KW](https://chat.whatsapp.com/LxEb41NmxyK4oRJeM9o2KW) 💸 Donate: [https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=W77YS88G5W8ZL](https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=W77YS88G5W8ZL) 📸 Instagram: [https://www.instagram.com/berlinphotochallenge](https://www.instagram.com/berlinphotochallenge)

Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈 - Edition 014
Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈 - Edition 014
**Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈** is a new, informal in-person Rust meetup group in Berlin. We are a interactive meetup format interested in mob coding, deep diving and problem solving together. We build toy projects, share experiences, discuss technology and learn new cool stuff. And you are welcome to join! No matter if you are writing Rust production code every day, if you already contribute to Open Source projects or want to start doing so, if you use Rust in hobby projects or if you are just curious what the hype and buzz is all about, you are very welcome! To coordinate and plan activities, please join our **[Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/)**[ Zulip chat](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/)! **Planned programme** Being an informal meetup, we are open to anything between just meet and talk, explore nerd snipes and rabbit holes, mob code together, plan and build fun projects, tinker with electronics, and presentations with Q&A. With the [introduction](https://berline.rs/2026/04/01/berlin-talks.html) of the new [Rust Berlin Talks](https://berline.rs/about#rust-berlin-talks) meetup series, **[Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈](https://berline.rs/about#rust-berlin-on-location)** strengthens its focus on social community experience, the exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives, and the joy of spontaneity. This time, Florian Gilcher will give a small **workshop on structured and safe usage of *\`unsafe\`***. We will look at some common use-cases and how common hazards can be avoided. Anyone is invited to bring their projects and questions, show something, ask something, or explore a topic together. The best conversations and deepest rabbit holes can emerge out of seemingly nowhere. **Projected upcoming meetups** We schedule regular meetups on Thursday evening every four weeks, using the slot between the Berlin Rust Hack and Learn online meetup (every two weeks), and the Rust Nuremberg online meetup (every four weeks). 11 June 2026 is our fourteenth meeting Our next projected meetings are going to occur on the following dates: * 9 Jul 2026 * 6 Aug 2026 * 3 Sep 2026 * 1 Oct 2026 * 29 Oct 2026 * 26 Nov 2026 **Location** Our meetup location is the new shared office community space of Ferrous Systems, Slint and KDAB in Berlin Mitte, for up to 25 people. We are expecting to use this space as our default location for the time being, with the IN-Berlin e.V. community space in Moabit as backup. Regardless, as our group might eventually outgrow the locations' size limit, we are low-key looking for bigger locations. If you know a fitting location, then please let us know in our Signal group! Another workable way might be to split the meetup into smaller, interest-specific sub-groups instead. As the no-show rate on Meetup.com is rather high, consider showing up even if you are on the waiting list. We can't promise that there is any space left, but usually there is. So give it a shot! **Accessibility** The location has an elevator and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Please note that the bathroom is two floors down from the meetup space. On our quest for a bigger location, we are going to pay special attention to accessibility. **Community** We aim to create a safe place for everyone and adhere to the [Berlin Code of Conduct](https://berlincodeofconduct.org/). Inclusivity is very important to us. If you are curious about Rust, but unsure if you are welcome to join: Yes, yes you are. Please come to the meetup! If you have special needs, please get in contact, we will try to accommodate you as best we can. We are part of [https://berline.rs/](https://berline.rs/) and like to hang out in the **[Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/)**[ Zulip chat](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/). AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat. But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review. In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity. We’ll cover: * What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot * How agents break tasks into steps * Where agents are genuinely useful today * Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review * How to design simple AI workflows for your own work * A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration! This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired. **New to electronics or curious about tinkering?** You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building. While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.

Since then, we’ve built a suite of AI‑driven solutions that transform this data into real, measurable outcomes—accelerating benefits decisions for our Nation’s Veterans. Join us for a focused conversation on how an outcome‑driven approach to AI is helping us boost accuracy, streamline workflows, and deliver faster results for those who have served. This is a follow up to the AWS re:Invent 2023 "Intelligent Document Processing with Gen AI for Public Sector" presentation.
