Almere Tech #35
Almere Tech #35
**The human side of data: systems thinking before AI** Many data and AI initiatives struggle not because of technology, but because of unclear questions, missing structure, and overlooked human behavior behind the data. In this Almere Tech Meetup, [Lauren Haan-Gilbert](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lauren-haan-gilbert/) explores why many data problems are not really data problems at all. Using systems thinking and human centered analysis, Lauren shows how teams can ask better questions before applying analytics or AI. This leads to more reliable insights, better decisions, and solutions that actually work in practice. This talk is for anyone working with data, AI, products, or decision making, and for those curious why AI succeeds in some organizations and quietly fails in others. **Almere Tech** is the meetup for the larger Almere area for startups, entrepreneurs, developers and those interested to discuss new technology. Everybody can join in for a drink and hopefully interesting and inspiring conversations. The program is as follows: * **17.30** Door open, welcome drinks * **17.45**: Word of welcome by [Wouter ten Brink](https://www.linkedin.com/in/woutertenbrink/), serving of snacks * **18.15** Talk of [Lauren Haan-Gilbert](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lauren-haan-gilbert/) * **18.45** Q&A, discussion * **19.00** Drinks and talks * **20:00** End Just show up, bring your curiosity, and join the conversation.
Nourishing the Professional Self: Working from Essence
Nourishing the Professional Self: Working from Essence
**A Genuine Contact Exploration** As professionals who help people to organize getting things done in better ways, it can sometimes be pretty tough to keep going. Almost inevitably, at some point, we will all experience a ā€˜dark night of the soul’, where nothing we’re doing seems to be working, nothing is changing, and we’re finding it hard to even still care... And yet, we continue to find ways to show up again and again with the energy to inspire others, the patience to step back and see what emerges, the wisdom to understand what’s happening, and the strength to continue learning - and helping others to learn - truly valuable lessons from the whole experience. One of the things that can nourish and restore us in these moments is uncovering, connecting to, and exploring the essence of our work, and drawing from the deep well of what really matters to us. At this meetup, you will be offered an opportunity to experience how some of the methods and tools of the Genuine Contact approach can add value to your professional and personal life, by explicitly working on the ā€˜essence’ that drives you: your deeper perspectives, beliefs, and principles; and the conduct and attitudes that they require. You will come away with: * An understanding of Genuine Contact as an approach * Experience of a participatory meeting method * Experience of working with one Genuine Contact tool applied to your own situation * The potential to adapt pieces of what you are learning into your own practice * Information on how to learn more about the Genuine Contact approach. Schedule: 17:00 Walk‑in 18:00 Dinner & Start of the workshop (please let us know if you have any allergies) 21:00 Drinks Main language: English

šŸŗšŸ›• Pyramid of Austerlitz Loop via Groote Heidestein (20 km)
šŸŗšŸ›• Pyramid of Austerlitz Loop via Groote Heidestein (20 km)
We’re heading into the heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug for a beautiful loop hike starting and ending at station Driebergen Zeist. From the station we quickly enter the wide open heather fields of Groote Heidestein, with heather fields, sandy paths, and a wonderfull spacious feeling. We follow these open landscapes all the way to the forests surrounding the Pyramid of Austerlitz. After about 10 kilometers we take a well deserved break at the pyramid. You can grab a snack or drink there, or enjoy your own packed lunch. This is the area where the famous wolf Bram once roamed and made the news. The situation has since settled, so the coast is clear again, but it adds a touch of wild history to the landscape. From here we loop back towards Driebergen Zeist through landgoed Heidestein. This section is full of surprises, including narrow passages and small tunnels that make the walk feel playful and slightly adventurous. We finish back at station Driebergen Zeist, completing a varied and scenic hike through one of the most beautiful parts of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. **šŸ“When and where to meet?** We’ll meet at 10h30 under the tracks of train station Driebergen Zeist. https://maps.app.goo.gl/JdRccArNqxzvFb6U8 ā° We **start walking a few minutes after meeting up** — we don’t wait for latecomers, as the forest calls and daylight is short this time of year. **šŸš— Coming by car?** You can park here but please also do your own research: https://maps.app.goo.gl/WSMa4XaaP7U5awwf8 **āøļø Planned Breaks** After 10 km: Lunch break at Pyramid of Austerlitz (Speeltuin & Restaurant) https://maps.app.goo.gl/XKazfvaa24VvWrq66 **šŸ’ø Payment** Please pay as soon as you sign up: To keep things fair for everyone, if we don’t receive your payment within 48 hours, we will need to remove you from the participant list. If there’s a waiting list, this will happen sooner (in less than 48 hours). If that happens, no worries — you’re always welcome to sign up again if there’s space. 🌟 Early Bird Deal! Join now for just €4 — available for 3 days (72h). After that, the price will be €5. The event is full, so the payment link has been removed. **šŸ‘Ÿ Good to know** * Refund policy: Cancellations are fully refundable up to 1 week before the event (This is Friday 13 January at 23h59). After this period, the fee becomes non-refundable. * Hike difficulty: Our hikes are moderately challenging. Please only join if you’re confident you can keep up with the group’s pace (5 km/ h)— it’s more fun for everyone when we can walk together without long waits. * If the pace is too challenging: We may kindly suggest you continue at your own pace. We’ll give you clear directions to the nearest bus or train so you can return comfortably. * At your own risk: You participate at your own risk, so please make sure you have appropriate insurance coverage for outdoor activities. * Payment note: With Tikkie we only see initials (e.g., J. Doe instead of John Doe). Please include your Meetup name in the payment note so we can match it easily. * Friends joining: If you bring a friend, make sure they also register and pay. * What to bring: Snacks, lunch, and water/ or hot thee/ coffee. * Stay connected: Join our WhatsApp group to be the first to hear about future hikes — ask for the QR code during the hike. * T-shirts: Fairwear-certified organic cotton, eco-friendly inks — €25. Read below to learn about our groups and click the links at the bottom to apply. ### **What is an Outdoor Empowerment Group?** Our Outdoor Movement & Community Empowerment Groups are simple, guided experiences designed to help people reconnect with nature, themselves, and others. We combine some form of movement (hike, walk, run, bike, yoga, workout) and meaningful conversation within a simple community circle to create a space where individuals can support each other while prioritizing mental and physical well-being. Whether you’re seeking stress relief, personal growth, or community, our groups offer everyone a unique and welcoming environment. ## **Why Join?** * **Improve Mental & Physical Well-Being** – Movement, nature, and supportive conversations reduce stress and promote balance. * **Feel Less Alone** – Build genuine connections with like-minded people in a safe, welcoming space. * **Gain Clarity & Perspective** – Step outside daily routines and into a space designed for personal growth and reflection. ## **The Ideal Group Leader** The ideal group leader * Has a born-in passion for mental health, movement, connecting with nature and building community. * Has 5 extra hours per week to dedicate to a meaningful cause for at least one year. In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
Mental Health, how do you understand it? How can you improve it? How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp. This group is hosted by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Free In-Person Events: How to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward
Free In-Person Events: How to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward
The emotional pain from past bad experiences easily lingers in the present, making it hard to enjoy life and create your future. Even when you think you've moved on, the negative emotions can be triggered, sending you back into the pain of that experience. And we are talking about pain; emotions such as grief, depression, anxiety, fear (or terror), boiling anger, simmering resentment, feelings of shame, blaming and regret can leave you incapacitated to a greater or lesser degree. In this local event we will be discussing the reasons why these past bad experiences have the power to affect you long after they occurred. We'll go over why the emotional pain can be so strong. We'll also discuss some simple solutions to overcome your emotional pain and be free to fully enjoy your life again. Examples of painful experiences include: * A broken relationship or divorce. * Death or loss of a loved one. * Death of a pet. * A sudden shock or bad news. * A betrayal. * Being part of an abusive relationship. * A bad injustice. * Loss of a job, position or business. * A grave illness or injury. The negative emotions from these experiences don't just go away on their own. But the good news is there is a way to clear them out of your way. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is sponsored the Dianetics & Scientology Self-Improvement Center.
