Dharma Talk & Meditation
Join us at 11:30 a.m. for a meditation class led by Khenpo Karze, followed by a public talk and Q&A.
The meditation focus varies from class to class. We are currently learning how to meditate on the Four Immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.
The class begins with 30 minutes of meditation instruction, followed by 5-10 minutes of meditation practice, and then continues with discussion and Q&A. Each session concludes with a brief Chenrezig practice in which we recite Om Mani Padme Hung (a prayer of compassion), and a dedication prayer that our efforts benefit all beings.
This class offers a strong foundation in meditation, helping cultivate inner peace and compassion amidst busy lives.
All are welcome!
This program is open to anyone with an interest in Buddhism and you can come to all or any part of the program. Families are welcome. There is no fee, but donations are encouraged.

We Were Made for These Times (hybrid)
We all go through times when it feels like the ground is being pulled out from under us. What we relied on as steady and solid may change or even appear to vanish. In this era of global disruption, threats to our individual, social, and planetary safety abound, and at times life can feel overwhelming. Not only are loss and separation painful, but even positive changes can cause great stress.
Yet life is full of change: birth, death, marriage, divorce; a new relationship; losing or starting a job; beginning a new phase in life or ending one. Change is stressful, even when it is much desired or anticipated—the unknown can feel scary and threatening. In We Were Made for These Times, the extraordinary mindfulness teacher Kaira Jewel Lingo imparts accessible advice on navigating difficult times of transition, drawing on Buddhist teachings on impermanence to help you establish equanimity and resilience.

Discovering Your Inner "Aha"
Have you ever had a moment where everything suddenly *clicked*?
An unexpected realization… a quiet inner knowing… a simple insight that changed how you see yourself or your life.
These are epiphanies—powerful “wake-up calls” that reveal our gifts, illuminate new possibilities, and gently uncover what may be holding us back.
Join us this Sunday with **Rev. Sandra Butler** as we explore the transformative power of epiphany moments. Through a Unity lens, we’ll reflect on how these flashes of insight can guide us toward greater clarity, purpose, and spiritual growth.
You may even begin to recognize (or rediscover) your own epiphany story.
Whether you’re on a spiritual path or simply curious about personal growth, you are warmly welcome.

QiGong Level 1 Healing Form
Qigong literally means life energy cultivation. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, it is a moving meditation practice that balances and activates the Qi (chi) or life force in the body. Qigong combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intentions. The practices can be classified as martial, medical, or spiritual. It is a highly effective health care practice, many report improvements in physical or mental ailments as well as connecting to their true inner nature. Blood and Qi have a very close relationship. Blood is said to be a denser form of Qi, and more Yin in nature. Qi generates, moves and holds the blood, while Blood nourishes the Qi.
The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions. One of the more important long-term effects is that Qigong reestablishes the body/mind/soul connection. When these three aspects of our being are integrated, it encourages a positive outlook on life and helps eliminate harmful attitudes and behaviors. It also creates a balanced life style, which brings greater harmony, stability, and enjoyment!
“If you want to LIVE TO BE 100, learn Qigong!”
– Dr. Mehmet Oz, Contributor to Oprah Show
And, speaking of age, anyone can do Qigong, from 5 year olds to 95 year olds! Any body shape or condition as well can be improved. If you can’t stand for very long, you can see results from doing Qigong while sitting. There was even a case of a person who made great improvements doing Qigong while lying in their bed!
Jacqui has been practicing diligently, and is now a Certified Instructor by the Supreme Science Qigong Center in the Level One Healing Form. Come join us at Rising Phoenix. Only $15.00 a class! We are so excited to show you how to follow the Qi!
Please RSVP by 8 AM on the day of class. You can RSVP here on Meetup,
or call us at 703-257-7522.

A unique musical experience called a "Sound Bath"
Sound bath! What's that?
According to sonic specialist Monte Hansen from Annapolis MD, "A sound bath is an immersion in sound frequency that cleans your soul."
Leave your rubber ducky at home.
Bring your blankey instead, for this super relaxing immersion!
According to cutting-edge doctors from Harvard, some of the deepest most profound healing in the body are accomplished with sound frequency.
That's old news though.
A 2nd century stone relief in the Himalayan mountains shows us that Buddha and his entourage knew this before Christ walked the earth.
The stone relief depicts the Buddha and his buddies playing ancient Tibetan singing bowls.
A sound frequency specialist from the [Human Activation School](https://humanactivation.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d88b4fea1b0f4ceaeb58f0e82&id=d6674b4603&e=465ba11f44), will be playing several of these rare Singing Bowls, some of which are over 200 years old.
A magical alchemy of 7-12 different metals rings in the past, present, and future for our relaxing enchantment. Even modern doctors are using these old metal bowls for healing, and they are not practicing Buddhists!
As a matter of fact, modern Buddhists no longer use the bowls in their practice.
Come experience these gifts from the past in this NON-religious practice of our present. Come be rejuvenated or just captivated by this unique musical performance. Bring your pillows, blankeys, and yoga mats and snuggle into the comfort of the tranquil sounds. Feel free to sit, lay, or even stand!
