Climbing and the Pub: A vertical social adventure with đ„ food and đ·drink
**đ§Climbing, onwards and upwards to the Pub: A Vertical Social Adventure**
Eat Drink Dance Melbourne â Social Rock Climbing Night
Hardrock Climbing, Swanston St (CBD)
Thursday 8 January 2026
****### Before considering going on this event make sure you read the group rules section at the end ###****
**Venue information** inc costs.
[Hard Rock Climbing](https://www.hardrock.com.au/prices/)
You will need to purchase entry and at a minimum also a rock climbing harness, you also have the option to hire climbing shoes (for a better experience) and chalk although these are not exactly necessary if you are new to the sport.
Ready to swap the dance floor for a climbing wall and flirt with gravity for a couple of hours? Join us for Climbing to Pub, a fun, social, slightly chaotic vertical adventure right in the heart of Melbourne.
Weâll spend around 2 hours at Hardrock Melbourne (CBD) scaling colourful walls, cheering each other on, and discovering which muscles we forgot existed. Afterwards, for those who want to keep the good vibes rolling, weâll wander over to a Pub for dinner and drinks from around 8.30pm or earlieâbecause nothing says âI conquered a wallâ like a cold beverage and a hearty feed.
**What to Bring**
- Water (hydration = happiness)
- Small towel
- Comfortable, stretchy clothes
- Runners (or hire climbing shoes for a much better grip-and-zip experience)
- A big carbohydrate snack to keep the energy flowing
- Your best âI swear Iâm not afraid of heightsâ attitude
**For FirstâTimers & New Gym Climbers**
If youâve never climbed beforeâor youâre new to Hardrockâyouâll need to complete a compulsory safety induction. The friendly staff will outfit you with a harness and teach you how to belay safely (aka: how to hold your climbing partnerâs life in your hands with confidence and charm). Weâll be doing roped climbing, so teamwork is part of the fun.
**A Note from Your (Very Rusty) Host**
Once upon a time I was a climbing and mountaineering instructor⊠and then came lockdowns, injuries, hand surgeries, and a long break from the vertical arts. So Iâll be right there with you on the baby beginner climbs, laughing, wobbling, and rediscovering my forearms. No pressure, no egoâjust a group of friendly humans having a go.
**What to Expect**
- A fun, flirty, lowâstakes social atmosphere
- Lots of cheering, laughing, and âwait, how do I get down?â moments
- A guaranteed dose of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) if you havenât exercised in a while
- A perfect warmâup for the groupâs cycling rides if you want to get those muscles activated
Climbing is one of the best social sports aroundâshared challenge, shared triumph, and plenty of opportunities to chat between climbs. Whether youâre a seasoned wallâscrambler or a total newbie, youâre welcome.
Letâs climb, laugh, flirt with gravity⊠and then wander to the pub.
If you do not get there on time ask at reception for the Meetup group run by Mark
**Group Rules and Event Etiquette**
**Fitness Requirements**:
As this is a beginner event I don't have expectations, but it is a physical sport so having some basic strength would be good.
**If people have time constraints**
Best to give yourself some wiggle room, Things rarely go to time due to various factors especially in big groups and when you're having fun. But for climbing this is relaxed, exit at will.
**+++VERY IMPORTANT+++**
**People who do a No Show**.
This is unfortunately too common for small group events, there may be people in a waitlist wanting to come on the event and is very inconsiderate. Remove yourself from the going list at least 24 hours before the event to give people on the waitlist an opportunity. **If you do a No Show you will be removed and blocked from the group**.
If you remove yourself from the event an hour or two before the event (flaking) you may also be blocked and removed from the group, this is also unfair to people on the waitlist.
Please communicate with me if you do not want to be blocked and removed from the group.
**People who turn up without registering**
This is a major security concern, **DO NOT DO THIS**.You will be asked to leave the event unless you have made arrangements with the organiser **PRIOR** to the event.
**People Who Are Late**
You will be left behind and or removed and blocked from the group as a **No Show**. It is your responsibility to communicate with me if to think you will be late.. It"s up to you to catch up. This may not be possible on some events.

Inclusive Grief Circle: Honouring Loss Through Ceremony, Community & Creativity
Read reviews from past participants [here](https://www.greenhousecreativesanctuary.com/inclusivegrief)
âGrief has never been private, it has always been communal.
Subconsciously, we are awaiting the presence of others, before we can feel safe enough to drop to our knees on the holy ground of sorrow. For the most part, grief is not a problem to be solved, not a condition to be medicated, but a deep encounter with an essential experience of being human. Grief becomes problematic when the conditions needed to help us work with grief are absent.â - Francis Weller
Our primary association with grief is the loss of a loved one but there are so many kinds of losses that don't have formal ceremonies that are important to honour. Unprocessed grief can accumulate in weight, dulling our senses and capacity for aliveness.
This is a safe, supportive space for all shapes, sizes and textures of grief- for the loss of our loved ones, for the childhood we did not get to have, for the parts of ourselves that have been rejected and exiled, for friendships and relationships with ambiguous endings, for homes and communities we are distanced from and miss, for the suffering of the world and our fellow beings.
This inclusive grief circle is also an advocacy for compassionate and attentive grief work, for reshaping our understanding of and relationship with grief. It is a holding space, a container, a time and a deep permission to acknowledge our emotions, our connections, the ways we have been touched and transformed, and our humanity.
We will make art in response to the Grief Deck, share and witness each otherâs stories and journeys, and co-create a group nature mandala together.
**Please bring a jar and 8-10 similar natural objects (8 flowers or 8 sticks or 8 stones).**
If you are facing financial hardship, please key in CONCESSION as a promo code for a discounted price of $25. If that is still difficult, please email me at greenhouse.arttherapy@gmail.com. No one will be turned away.

* If you are comfortable with me taking photos of you and/or your artwork for learning and supervision purposes, and to offer others a sense of what the workshop is like, please let me know at the start of the session. Your participation would be greatly appreciated!

Recruiting Virtual Mental Health Group Leaders!
We are recruiting new group leaders for virtual men's groups! Our primary groups are outdoor movement groups, but we are launching virtual groups for the state of Ohio and beyond and the groups will move outside in the spring, creating room for men's groups, women's groups and coed groups all over the country.
Read below to learn about our groups and click the links at the bottom to apply.
### **What is an Outdoor Empowerment Group?**
Our Outdoor Movement & Community Empowerment Groups are simple, guided experiences designed to help people reconnect with nature, themselves, and others. We combine some form of movement (hike, walk, run, bike, yoga, workout) and meaningful conversation within a simple community circle to create a space where individuals can support each other while prioritizing mental and physical well-being.
Whether youâre seeking stress relief, personal growth, or community, our groups offer everyone a unique and welcoming environment.
## **Why Join?**
* **Improve Mental & Physical Well-Being** â Movement, nature, and supportive conversations reduce stress and promote balance.
* **Feel Less Alone** â Build genuine connections with like-minded people in a safe, welcoming space.
* **Gain Clarity & Perspective** â Step outside daily routines and into a space designed for personal growth and reflection.
## **The Ideal Group Leader**
The ideal group leader
* Has a born-in passion for mental health, movement, connecting with nature and building community.
* Has 5 extra hours per week to dedicate to a meaningful cause for at least one year. Yes, you can leave any organization at any time and we can also ask you to leave, but we are building with legacy in mind and we need people who can commit and be ALL IN on this mission to build with us.
* Is independently financially stable with the ability to volunteer with no expectation of pay. This is a deeply beautiful journey of service that all participants commit to at Speak Your Mind.
* An ability to manage groups with high emotional intelligence and desire for human connection.
* An ability to self-motivate and market/promote their group on Facebook and other social platforms.
* Nature informed therapy or clinical therapists/psychologists a plus.
## **Our Impact**

Since launching, we have helped thousands find support, connection, and healing through our Outdoor Movement Groups. 100% of participants surveyed have reported:
* A noticeable improvement in mental clarity and emotional well-being.
* An increase in social connection and a sense of belonging.
* Said they would return again.
We believe mental health should be accessible, community-driven, and rooted in nature. Join us and take the first step toward a more connected, grounded, and supported version of yourself.
### **Why Our Groups are Donation-Based**
Our Outdoor Movement Groups are made possible through a donation-based model. This approach allows us to keep our events accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, while also ensuring that we can continue expanding our reach. Itâs a great way to pay it forward and support the growth of this beautiful mission!
Every contribution helps us:
* **Cover Essential Costs** â Donations allow us to pay essential legal, marketing, insurance, and admin costs as well as nourish the important people who run the organization.
* **Grow Our Mission** â With your support, we can bring these healing experiences to thousands more people in the future and execute our long term plan to expand across the USA, affecting up to 500,000 people per year.
By choosing to contribute, youâre not just leading an eventâyouâre helping build a mental health movement that supports long-term well-being and connection for all during a severe mental health epidemic.

Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
This is a free, in person meeting.
Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to âpin the blameâ on someone or something. If you donât find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, donât know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe youâve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
âą How to âeraseâ the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isnât always repeating past mistakes.
âą Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
âą Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
âą Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
âą Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
âą What underlies âcorrosive criticismâ or the need to invalidate self or others?
âą How one can stably change oneâs outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
âą Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
âą How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
âą How to enhance oneâs own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or oneâs career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are âstoredâ and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can âeraseâ those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become âtoxicâ personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you wonât be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Doing KPIs Right
**Doing KPIs Right: a KEY to Analytics (and AI!) Impact!**
On the one hand, KPIs are such a Business 101 concept that it may seem a little silly to dedicate an entire session to the topic. On the other hand, KPIs get handled so poorly so often that a case could be made that this meetup could just be one of the most impactful sessions of the entire year!
Weâre starting off the year at a new location: [COhatch Upper Arlington](https://www.cohatch.com/locations/columbus/upper-arlington/) but with a familiar speaker, Tim Wilson! Weâll be back at Rev1 in February, when the speaker will presumably not be Tim.
Tim will make the case that effectively measuring performance of projects, campaigns, and initiatives (and even meetups!) should be a foundation for any data analytics program. Topics covered will include: the âtwo magic questionsâ of performance measurement, how to help business partners distinguish between outcomes and outputs, and effective tactics for collaboratively establishing KPI targets.
He will also stick his neck out by demonstrating some of these techniques in real-time by measuring whether his talk lives up to the promise of this description!
All CBUSDAW events are free thanks to our 2026 Sponsors: Clarivoy, Conductrics, What Box Consulting Group, and Piwik PRO.
