**Christian & Bella Volen Galerie**

Shut Up & Write!® Thursdays @Café Pierre
Shut Up & Write!® Thursdays @Café Pierre
Join us for a writing session! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 18:00 on Thursdays at Café Pierre. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 18:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 18:15- timer starts 20:00 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing / discussion group meeting. Café Pierre closes at 24:00 OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens when we're finished and before the writing session starts. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and join us! Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at Café Pierre! What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Other Important Details: INTERNET: There is WLAN in the café. The staff will tell you the password if you ask them, or just ask me. TRAVEL / PARKING: U3 Neubaugasse, U4 Kettenbrückengasse. If you drive there, remember that Kurzparkzone applies. SEATING INFORMATION: plenty of seats available. It's the big oval table inside, but if the weather is nice in the summertime, we may be found outside. GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something. Other information: There is no registration process for this meetup. Just click on the meetup you want to attend and then click on the red button "Teilnehmen" or "attend". If that doesn't work, you can attend the writing session anyway.

First event: The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas
For our very first book club meeting, we’re heading to 19th-century Brazil with ***The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas*** by **Machado de Assis!** First published in 1881, this novel turns the idea of a memoir upside down. Its narrator, Brás Cubas, begins his story after his death, freed from reputation, consequence, and social expectation. From beyond the grave, he recounts his life with wit, irony, and sharp self-awareness. **Location: Plutzer Bräu Vienna.** €2 kindly requested on the night to help cover Meetup costs.

Im Mittelpunkt der Ausstellung steht Fanny Harlfinger-Zakucka (1873–1954), eine Künstlerin, Illustratorin, Designerin und Verfechterin der Gleichberechtigung der Frau im frühen 20. Jahrhundert.
